Location was great. Spacious and facilities great. Lovely kept garden area. Bedrooms had enough space and two bathrooms. Plenty of hallway space for our bikes. Kitchen had everything you needed, lots of choice. Plenty of parking.

Could not find a way of turning the heating off, maybe just us. Two of the beds had head and foot boards, the foot boards made the beds a little small. However they were comfortable. Happy I am small. One large frying pan or Wok as we were cooking for 6 people would have been the icing on the cake, and then kitchen was outstanding.

the beds were too small and your felt quite squashed in especially as we had 3 people 5ft 9 to 6ft 3 but we managed so all good!

Good location close to cafes, galleries, shops. Parking was easy either on street or in a nearby free car park. There was a nice little garden at the back of the property. The furnishings are quirky, with a lot of books to read and interesting art work. Plenty of space and generally well equipped kitchen.

A bit old fashioned but suited us. A few too many steps if you have any mobility problems. Towels not provided.

Not suitable for people with mobility problems as on three stories and you also have to go down steep step through cellar to garden. Very bad old musty smell through whole house. Reminded me of my old grandma’s bedroom in attic in the 1950’s. Continuous noise could be heard in bedrooms from commercial air condition units above Co-op shop next door all day and night!

Set up didn’t look like photos in living room. Way too much clutter making the place claustrophobic and dirty. so much stuff that it can’t be cleaned. even files going up the stairs!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mackenzie House and it was in a lovely location in the heart of Kirkcudbright. The house was cosy and well-equipped, especially in the kitchen, and the beds were comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend.
