The bed was super comfy, the location was very quiet but close to everything and the owner was lovely.
Loved everything but unfortunately there was no water (problem across port Barton) but the lovely staff provided me with a bucket so I still had water to shower. Please keep in mind there’s been little rain in PB lately so it’s not an issue specific to this hotel.

Fijne ligging, aardige eigenaar, heel redelijk geprijsd en lekker bed. We zouden hier opnieuw verblijven als we Port Barton nog eens zouden bezoeken.

very small rooms, only one shower with hot water in the whole place( and was promised hot water) the hot water machine start burn with fire when we used it first time, we left the first morning after ( and paid fir 3 nights) and didn't get any money back or sorry but it was very dangerous

Thanks for taking care Mike!
Beautiful little place in the beautiful, laidback town Port Barton
Basic, but very good and comfortable huts. Few steps from the beach, really great bed!
Would have liked to stay much longer!

Very basic but I think everywhere in port Barton is like this! Nice location next to everything, and comfy (firm) bed. The bathroom is nice, but the shower head was a trickle and you get more pressure from the bloody toilet gun! Even though it’s cute that you’ve put the shower head through a sea shell, it’s not practical. Id rather a proper shower head so I can have a proper shower
I’ve read alot about the host mike but we didn’t even see him the first 2 days we were there! We waited an hour just to be checked in by a Phillipino local. The wifi was very weak. I also didn’t like that there was a flat sheet on the bed coz it always moves when you sleep and you end up sleeping directly on mattress- use a fitted sheet please!

Mike was great - so helpful with tips for where to eat/things to do, as well as organising tours and buses for us! Also really flexible and allowed us to stay two extra nights at late notice.

Great accommodation, near to the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The host was nice so were the staff aswell, but the last day we overheard one of the staff members, loudly complaining to the host about the working conditions. of course we don’t know exactly what’s going on but we thought it was something you should take into consideration when booking.

I’m a bit surprised by some of the reviews on this listing. If you are even a small bit familiar with other stays in Palawan and specifically Port Barton, you know it to be a good and comfortable stay. The huts are very well maintained, as is the garden pathway to them. It is a welcome change of scenery in dry and dusty Port Barton. My hut had storage racks for my backpack and belongings, which makes the place more tidy. The owner is very chill and kind, we had a good talk. Thanks for having me!

Port Barton is our favorite destination in the philippines! The hotel is not even 1min walking from the sea and everything you need is on walking distance. ).
Very nice eggs with the breakfast and complimentary coffee/tea/water (however it was finished a few times and not replaced in a short notice so you cant count on the availability).
It is a big hut with mosquito screens in the open windows (enough fresh air so we even didnt need to use the fan!), it is clean and has a nice big balcony.
The owner informs you well about all things you can do here.
The reception is not always occupied while our key was there, didnt feel so safe.
Be aware: only the luxury huts are around a little garden, while the standards are not (and as they are close to each other they are also darker. Luckily we had an upgrade, thank you for that! And be aware there is only cold water in the shower, except for the 2 superieur huts in the back.
The wifi is offered but not working here. There are a few other places in Port Barton with working wifi (although still not the best speed) and our philipine sim (Smart) also worked!

staff was ok, that s it. It was the host birthday, they shared food with everyone and sing karaoke. Everyone is frendly and it gives you a nice feeling of home.
rooms are bad(bad smell and small), no hot water for 3 days and the water pressure is bad you take a shower in 5 minutes, location far away from the bus station. Roads with no lights. The most annoying thing was a lot of sounds at night that kept us awake, lizards, roaster singing all night, we even had a cow in the yard in the morning making sounds 🤣. The value for what you pay doesn t make sense, way to expensive for what you get.

Friendly and welcoming vibe. I felt at home and super comfortable here. One stop shop - if you want to book island hopping trips, scooters etc then they can help you with all of that.
My bicycle needed repairs so one of the staff took me to a local bike mechanic and he let me know it needed to be taken back to where I got it to be fixed (dodgy part). Unfortunatley for me.. this was all the way back in Puerto Princesa (3 hours away). The owner happened to be going there the next day to run errands so he took the bike with him, took it to the bike shop and brought it back for me. Above and beyond!!!
Couldn't say enough! Would 100% recommend anyone to Castaway if heading to Port Barton.
Nothing.

The property is charming and appears new, perhaps due to rebuilding after the December 2021 typhoon. The front porch is convenient for leaving wet/ sandy beach gear. There is a large mirror in the room and two big windows for cross ventilation. The bed was large and comfortable. There were some large shelves and a rod for hanging clothes. Tina was great booking our boat trip and bus tickets. There is no AC but the fan is strong and we were very comfortable. Also we thought power would go off at night but it stayed on.
A shelf is needed by the bed for putting eyeglasses, phone, water etc. The shower is cold water only, brrrr. Only one electrical outlet in the room so bring a power strip if you have multiple items to charge.

Simple huts very close to the beach. Lovely staff that made me feel home from the first moment. Good recommendations for restaurants in Port Barton. If you are looking for an affordable but nice place, I can only recommend to stay here. Great value for money!
P.S. Having only a fan at night is no problem at all. No AC needed to sleep well.

The grounds of Castaway are cute, with lots of plants and we enjoyed sitting on the little balcony attached to the room. We booked a tour through Tina and it was good. They have a water refill station and free coffee. This room doesn't have AC and it was quite warm to sleep, even with the fan on. There's also no hot water in the shower. This hotel is a short walk to the beach, which was very nice! Close to many restaurants and bars. We also walked to Coconut beach - it's quite the adventure to get to, but if you go early enough you may have the whole beach to yourself like we did!

I utterly love this place. I mean the location as well as the property. The bungalos are traditional native built of wickerwork and fitted with a good strong fan which keeps the place cool and well ventilated. The gardens are wonderful, thanks mainly to the work of Tina who runs the place. Little touches such a s big conch shell mounted on a hand made wooden bracket which forms the shower unit adds to the ambiance of this lovely place. The beach is a minutes walk along the dirt track road outside. Sari sari are right by and places to eat are close.. May I recommend a place about a 10 minute walk along the beach. I was told the name but forget. Tina recommended it and will tell you when you stay. An American breakfst of crispy bacon , srcambled eggs , watermelon , banana and fresh pineapple with complementary coffee will set you back all of 180 pesos ( £ 2.60 ) An evening meal chicken in a lovely creamy mushroom sauce with french fries costs the same. Tina the host of "Casterways" is ever helpful, friendly and charming. She will do your laundry for you at a very reasonable fee. This place is so laid back and non touristy. Do an island hopping trip on one of the local boats Again, Tina will arrange. Great fun, snorkle to your hearts desire and a great BBQ for 1,200 pesos. A bargain ! I will return ( As Douglas MacArthur said )
Nothing to dislike.

We had a wonderful stay in Castaway. Traditional style bungalows, very clean, water and coffee for free the whole day. Breakfast is also an option for a good price. Some rooms have the option of hot water, but is not really a need with the weather there. The location is great, just 100mts from the beach. We booked first 2 nights and then we extended another 4. Mike & Tina were open to talk with us and give us all the tips needed to take the best of Port Barton without wasting our money, you can definitely trust them for any questions you have. 100% recommended

We absolutely loved our stay at castaway!
The place itself is beautiful, with really awesome art and decor (seriously everywhere you look there is something to see).
The room was very comfortable, it was cool at night, great shower.
The bed is MASSIVE, so much so I forgot I was sharing a bed :)
Location is brilliant, 30 second walk from the beach (and incidentally the best swimming spot. Walking distance to all shops and restaurants.
Great wifi.
Brilliant breakfast available!
Thanks so much to Tina, Mike (and of course both the boys) for giving us such an amazing stay and start to our trip, you guys are seriously awesome!
If you are staying in Port Barton you need to stay here :)
There is nothing that we didnt like!

Loved the artistic and creative design details regarding the general building scheme. The proximity to the beach, a mere 30 second walk, was very positive. The location is perfect, situated in a quiet sector of Port Barton Village. Great food right next door and within minutes walk of restaurants, bars and transport.
I especially enjoyed interacting with Mike and his family, staff, and friends. Well managed, well organized, and well positioned.
The fact that I couldn't stay longer.
