This rental was perfect for our monthlong stay in Barbizon. Right in the middle of main street through town, close to the market, bakery, cheese shop, butcher, cafes, restaurants, bakery-- basically, everywhere you'd need to go. The forest is at the end of the street-- perfect location for climbers -- and there's even a vegetarian cafe a few doors down that rents crash pads! The apartment is even more spacious and charming than it looks in the pictures. It's easy to get to Fontainebleau by bus, though reserving a taxi to get to Paris can be tricky. Fortunately for us, Mme. and M. Chabert were very helpful hosts, not only finding us an Uber driver but even calling him for us to make sure there was no miscommunication! We'd definitely rent with them next time we come to climb!

The village of Barbizon is lovely and has all the shops you could need, including an excellent pâtisserie. It also has many galleries and a good choice of restaurants. Well located for Paris and Fontainebleau. The owners are extremely obliging and appear to be well-liked members of the local community. I would definitely recommend staying here for a truly French experience.

Parfait pied à terre pour venir explorer la forêt de Barbizon; hôtes très accueillants et conciliants.

We spent a week in Barbizon. Of course, bouldering was on the agenda (not for me, I hike, but for the other family members), and some days of work in Paris. Barbizon is downright a bit too idyllic, but I won't complain of course. It can easily be reached via train from Paris (to Melun( then take a bus (if you don't want to use a car). Very nice shops that provide all that's necessary (no need to somewhere else to shop): Butcher, baker, groceries super friendly and always singing store operator), cheese, coffee place , superb ice-cream!!!... The forest starts right at the end of the village, max. 5 min. walk. There's a cool bike shop in the village as well, where you can rent quality bikes (reserve online ahead of time). One of the key boulder places is close by, gorges d'apremont. Because there are so many choices to boulder, good to have a book with you. The hosts of the apartment are very friendly, they awaited us outside though we were a bit late, and gave us valuable tips. They live across the yard, so any need can be communicated easily. One bedroom has a double bed, which is super comfy, the other has 2 individual beds. The apartment is on the first floor, below is a place with a waching machine and dryer, very practical. Kitchen and living room are seperated, which is nice. Kitchen has a table with chairs and a bench that easily fits 4, a new and functioning induction stove, and all other things one might like to have in a kitchen. Prior guests leave food items behind, which is practical, cause you don't start from zero (especially when arriving late), olive oil, coffee, spices, some tea, salt and such useful items were there. Bathroom is big and practical. Heaters work great and fast if you need to warm up after a day outside, very much appreciated. Afternoon sun warms up the kitchen, you can sit on the stairway, read, relax or work. Super plus point: Fast and reliable internet! Which explains why there isn't a TV (which I liked). You can easily stream. Suggestion: One or 2 additional lights (like a floor lamp for reading) would make the living room even more cozy. In summation: I slept well, ate well, relaxed, did sports and hiked, in a beautiful environment with respectful and friendly people around. Not much more one can ask for. Thanx Marie-Ange

Marie-Ange et Jacques Chabert sont très accueillants et d'une grande gentillesse,ils nous ont très bien reçus. Nous avons passé un bon séjour dans ce joli appartement rempli d'histoire et très bien placé pour visiter Barbizon et la région. Je recommande vivement. Merci encore.

Wir waren 4 Tage zu Bouldern in Barbizon und haben alles sehr genossen. Die Vermieter sind superfreundlich. Das Appartment groß und voll eingerichtet. Warm und gemütlich. Zum Einkaufen in der schönen malerischen Künstlerstrasse alles vorhanden. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Vielen Dank

Wirklich eine schöne Unterkunft, pittoresk gelegen und nur wenige Gehminuten vom Wald von Fontainebleau entfernt. Die Vermieter sind wahnsinnig nett und alles lief problemlos und freundlich ab. Jederzeit wieder.
