Great location near the centre of Frikes

Firstly, we were not allowed into the apartment until 1700. The apartment is old and run down. The shower enclosure is inadequate, causing flooding when used. The facilities were basic. There was an overwhelming stench of damp in the kitchen cabinets, probably caused by the broken seal on the tap.The A/C doesn't function correctly. The coffee machine had old grounds and filter paper left in it. But the worst aspect was the incredibly noisy external water pump, which disrupted the peace. These issues have been reported before but not addressed by the host. Indeed, I reported the noisy pump to the host but they ignored me. This could be a fabulous apartment with a little effort, but I get the impression that the host doesn't care as long as they have your money.

Location

We stayed in apartment number 1. The apartment is spacious and well located in the village. The view from the front balcony is very picturesque overlooking the church towards the mountains, capturing the last of the evening sun. Unfortunately this experience was soundtracked throughout our 3 night stay by the constant loud noise of, what we believed to be, a faulty water pump with air in the system. This wasn’t just when the water was being used; it randomly fired up at all hours. We messaged via booking.com after a terrible night’s sleep to be told by the booking agent that the owner had been informed (only when prompted by a second message at the end of the day). Even with the use of ear plugs and all 3 of us sleeping in the back bedroom (the pump was in the shared courtyard at the front) with a double bed and a single mattress on the floor…we were still kept awake by the pump. After two more nights of awfully interrupted sleep we were informed (again after multiple igniter messages that the owner was struggling to find a technician and finally received a “sorry”. We don’t think for a minute the owner had even tried. If it hadn’t been peak season with limited accommodation options we wouldn’t have stayed here in the first place. Again with it been peak season given the issues we would have sought an alternative to facilitate the bare essentials from accommodation…some sleep. The rock hard pillows didn’t help either. In addition to only one out of the two bedrooms being utilised, we were not able to make use of the self catering facilities either. The noise didn’t facilitate a very relaxing atmosphere so we had to pay to eat out…as did all the other disgruntled guests also having a pathetic experience. Frikes is a nice little town. The appartments (there are 4, we were in no. 1) are conviniently located just accross the bakery and a few meters from the waterside restaurants. Our appartment was well equipped and there ws enough room for 5 of us (one sleept on a couch). Washing machine comes very handy when travelling with a family. There are several gorgeus beaches with shade and quiet nearby.

The appartment would need a little love. There are mosquito nets on all doors and windows, but they were thorn on three of them. The kitchen is slightly underequipped: some cereal bowls, a salad bowl, some more plates and maybe an extra chair (there were 4) would be appreciated. Showet door missed a wheel, so it was difficult to close it. All tiny little things, which would make the whole experience better. Water pump is quite loud and at night one of the restaurants has loud music, but it is not too bad. If it rains (unlikely, but does happen), water flows underneath the door in the childrens bedroom, so you need to put some towels.

Nothing! Thankfully Fani from the management company was absolutely brilliant and helped us to move to a much nicer location into a lovely quiet apartment in Vathy!

Frikes is not a quiet fishing village at night it comes to life until about 3.30am to 4.00am in the morning with constant music booming from a bar a few doors down every night. The accommodation would have been ok other than the fact the sleep quality is non existent! We cut our stay short due to this noise, we should have been there 2 weeks and only stayed for 6 nights, we even moved to the rear apartment but this made no difference. Frikes caters for the Flotilla sailing holidays and at night is more like Club 18-30’s not a sleepy fishing village!

The location is beautiful, right next to the harbour, and all amenities. The place was very clean and all fascilities were as described. The view from the windows is very nice, green cliffs surrounding the village. Very happy with my stay.

Location was good, close to the little port and restaurants.

The apartments need to be renovated. The toilet in one of the apartments wouldn’t flush, the plumbing was old and barely functional. The mattresses were uncomfortable and you could feel the springs in your back. The bathroom door was stuck at locked which means you couldn’t even close it and have privacy. I don’t think it’s a good value for money. I believe that the property has potential if it gets the attention it deserves from the host. Last but not least they mention parking but you need to find a spot curbside at the relatively busy port, which can be challenging during peak hours.

The property was spacey with very nice patio. The beds were comforatble and the location was very convenient. Very clean also.

- There were no welcome goods, not even some bottled water in the fridge, since tap water is non-drinkable. - All the closets had an odeur of mould.
