Zero complaints! The home was everything that is advertised. We will stay again!

We were there for only two days for a wedding. Wish we had more time to enjoy the house.

Despite the inclement weather, we loved our stay. The owners have thought of everything one might need including a lovely gift of coffee, and other mementoes. You just need to show up with your clothes! Easy drive to beaches, BHI club, and more. Our kids came alone, but they wished they had brought friends t take advantage of the bunk beds. 2 carts is such a great perk, too!

As a mom of young kids, we typically read reviews closely, hoping for some insight about if a home would meet the current needs of our family. I’m writing this review for families like ours! Shrimp N’ Grits is an absolutely perfect home for families - especially if you have younger kids (ours are 4 & 6). The most important thing to us in renting is: great sleep & a clean home. This one met both hopes and then some. The way the house is laid out (reverse floor plan) puts the two queen bed/bunk rooms off to the side with no one over them. In other words: when you put the kids to bed, you do not have to tiptoe around or worry about noise! PRAISE! There are baby gates, box fans, and wonderfully comfortable beds. Amy is an absolute delight to communicate with, you can see how much of her heart has gone into their home. Added plus: the home is *very* close to Bald Head Island Club, beach accesses and our beloved Old Baldy. As a parent, you’ll be thrilled to find toys inside & a closet full of anything you’d want for a great beach day. And THE BIKES! Our 6 year old learned to ride for the first time to the delight of everyone watching on the cul-de-sac & it’s a forever memory. This home - and the family who owns it - is a gem. Highly recommend!

We had a nice time at Shrimp and Grits. The house is well stocked and updated. The owner was very responsive with answering questions and fixing the issue we had with the AC within 1 hour of contacting them. The porches are great, the bikes worked (rare on BHI as I find they are usually rusted), beds were very comfortable, and the house is nicely and recently updated. Also can join BHI Club which is very close by and we spent a lot of time there. We found lots of toys and books for the Kids to use which they loved. Kitchen had all we needed and more. Really enjoyed the screen porch and other porches especially in the morning. Even though this backs up to the road you barely notice it due to the trees on the property . Only negatives were that the carts were slow. We had to pull over and allow others to pass just about every trip. Not a big deal but did get kind of annoying. Again very nice place. I would say it is probably best suited for a single Family rather than 2 (or more). I would stay again for sure with a smaller group.

Vacationing at this property exceeded all our expectations! After many visits to the island we found the house that’s perfect in every way, we wish we never had to leave!!! The layout of the house suited our needs above and beyond! Living room flows into the dining space and into the kitchen. Kitchen had absolutely everything we needed to prepare our meals. We enjoyed many beautiful evenings at the dining room table and as we cooked or cleaned the kitchen we enjoyed a spectacular Moon rise out of the window! The wrap around porch offered a tranquil space for anyone who needed it:) The location of the house was perfect, too, as it was walking distance to the restaurants (we drove the golf carts;) or rode our bikes:) Also, the house is right across the beach where one can enjoy the beautiful sunsets every evening. We took full advantage of this and enjoyed the spectacular views at the end of each day. We are a very active family and I must say this property had the most selection of bikes for all ages and what was especially notable is that all bikes were VERY VERY well maintained! The owners are attentive to details not only inside the house but also outside. Everything is welcoming and done with style and comfort in mind. We look forward to staying here again and feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to enjoy this property while at the island this summer. Thank you!!!

We have stayed in a good number of rentals on BHI and this was by far the best house so far! We had a large group and it had everything we could possibly need. The kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms had room for a large group of people, the living area had plenty of comfortable seating, lots of dining seating and outdoor seating, and best of all indoor and outdoor toys for all ages. The house was immaculate, no expense was spared on remodeling and furnishings, and every last detail was well thought out. Absolute perfection!

Our family had not been on vacation since before COVID. This was exactly what we all needed. Clean, great communication, everything was exactly as stated. We had a membership to Shoals for the week, it was about 15 minutes from the house. BHI Club would be closer if that’s important to you. Would highly recommend this property.

Great overall experience - always enjoy returning to BHI. The property is conveniently located near the marina and the BHI Club - a bit of hike to the Shoals. The house is well appointed and clean. It was the perfect fit for the four of us.

Beautiful, well appointed house. Everything was easy from check in to finding things we needed in the kitchen. It was a little too chilly for us to enjoy the gorgeous porches but they are plentiful and well kept.

We loved staying here. We have been to BHI many, many times and can honestly say this is one of the most accommodating and thoughtfully put together properties we’ve stayed at. We really felt welcome and at home. Great location, really nice layout, and just an overall wonderful experience.

Great house and Amy was wonderful to deal with. The house had everything we needed and beautiful details. The games and toys were a hit for my son!

It's a wonderful property that is great for families. We had a great stay at Shrimp and Grits! Super cozy and a nice getaway!

We just spent the week at Shrimp 'N Grits and had a wonderful time. The house is beautifully decorated and stocked with toys for kiddos, games, and high end appliances. There are also many bikes, beach toys, and beach chairs that you can take to the shore. BHI is always amazing and gorgeous, but this house took our trip to the next level. The owners are very considerate and prompt communicators. This is an excellent BHI rental.

Bottom line: This is a wonderful house. My wife, three kids and I loved it. It's exactly as advertised, comfortable with a modern, updated decor and everything you need on BHI. There's plenty of room for games and relaxing, the kids have their own space and the eight-person dinner table and screened-in porches were great when we had family staying at another house over. There were also little surprises, like a welcome gift from the owners that included a shrimp & grits recipe that's going in our family recipe book. My wife loved that the updated outdoor shower is more or less sealed off to keep Bald Head critters out. The kids loved that the two golf carts are named "Shrimp" and "Grits". From the moment we booked, Amy was responsive, communicative and flexible with little requests. We also had one of those minor plumbing issues that always seem to happen on vacation and she handled it quickly and kept us in the loop, all while (unnecessarily) apologizing profusely. These things happen, but it was taken care of ASAP as she got a plumber on the ferry and to the house as quickly as she could. Highly recommend!

Typically with a beach rental home, the kitchen amenities are low end, not in this home. This home fit 6 adults and 4 kids with ease, never felt overcrowded. The location was great, beach access was a short walk across the street. We obtained temporary membership to The Shoals club this year and are so glad we did. Overall, a great week spent in BHI. Prompt responses, thorough answers, and they were very accommodating. The house was perfect for us. We have a family of 5 and brought the grandparents with us. We had plenty of room and were able to hang out together, or space out, as needed. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable.
