The property was beautiful. The house was immaculate and had everything you would need. The owners were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The house is a little off the beaten path, but perfect for our stay.

This is probably one of the most well appointed vacation homes we’ve ever stayed in! It’s beautifully decorated with tons of personality and charm. The owners go the extra mile to make your stay special. Our kids (ranging from 4-15) had fun in the game room every day. The adults loved hanging in the hot tub at night and listening to the cicadas. We visited Mammoth Cave, Barren River Lake State Park, and Dinosaur World during our trip. We’ll be back!

Melissa was so amazing to work with! She gave us all the information we needed ahead of time and was super helpful answering all of our questions as we planned our stay! Their home is so cozy, warm and relaxing! We had a great time!

Just spent a week with my grown family in this secluded, very comfortable and well stocked cabin (really a fully functional home) in southern Kentucky. Had a great time using this as a central base to visit the area - including a day in Nashville. The place is spacious, gorgeous and comes with everything you could possibly need - from a fully stocked kitchen, to all the necessary electronic gadgets including hi-speed internet as well as having plenty of towels, blankets and other incidentals. Beds are very comfortable, as is the living area seating. Loved having morning coffee reading a book on the deck while sitting in the hot tub listening to nature. Later ending the day in the game room downstairs with a game of ping pong - or sipping bourbon acquired from one of the visited distilleries as we played one of the many provided board games around the ginormous, live edge dining table. Really hated to say goodbye - had an awesome time staying here. I would add that the owners are super responsive and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Definitely a 5 star location and one everyone should strongly consider if you find yourself in the area.

Great location with lots to do to connect with family. Awesome game room, spacious deck with lake view, BBQ and hot tub. Spacious kitchen and dining room for family meals.

I loved everything about The Shady Pine. My family and I enjoyed it so much that the day we checked out was bittersweet! The beds were comfortable- better than any hotel we could have stayed at. It was clean, beautifully prepared and designed. The attention to detail was amazing. All of the amenities are amazing. Melissa was always prompt with communication and any questions I had. She left a personalized note with the house manual when we arrived. We can’t wait to book our stay for next year and hope to start making the Shady Pine a family tradition!

The house was amazing, very clean, lots of space for our group. Owners were very easy to communicate with, provided tons of info for stuff to do locally along with detailed accommodations and house lists so we knew exactly what to bring with us (not much because the house had everything)! Would recommend The Shady Pine to anyone (and have)!

Where should I start…this cabin is by far the best we’ve ever stayed in. The location was awesome, best place to escape the hustle and bustle. Surrounded by tall trees, close access to the lake, the jacuzzi, outdoor sitting area and dinning and also the fire pit with chairs and blankets! There is even a guitar in the house! The decor of the cabin is just perfect: cozy, warm, comfortable, with lots of small touch that makes the cabin so special. Big table to eat inside and a very well stocked kitchen with a big fridge. Washer and dryer, 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms were awesome too, everyone of our family felt at home instantly. Entertainment?more than you can wish for : lots of board games, and the basement: ping pong, air hockey, corn hole and an xbox, Nintendo and lots of dvd! The wifi is great too, in case you don’t want to totally disconnect with the world. And you can find tiny notes everywhere to explain this or that, very special touch. Cherry on top, the owner gift us a s’more basket with marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate!What a thoughtful attention.

I loved staying in this house with my family and good friend. We had everything we needed to prepare great meals in the kitchen. Everyone loved gathering around the large dining table surrounded by windows and all appreciated the nice coffee bar with mini fridges, which we stocked full of adult beverages. The outdoor sitting areas were comfortable and relaxing, and we spent a great deal of time utilizing the areas. Although we didn't kayak, we did walk the stairs and walkway for exercise. Very nice, quiet neighborhood. 4 crazy women had so much fun playing Ping-Pong. One afternoon we rented a pontoon from Narrows Marina to venture out on the lake. It was a great time for everyone, and although the boat was very nice and comfortable we all jumped into the lake and floated around in the freshing summer pool.

We’ve stayed here twice and love this property! Beautiful scenery, well stocked kitchen, and lots of thoughtful little touches everywhere. Our kids love exploring in the woods and down by the water, and when they are tired of nature they love the game room downstairs.

This place is exactly like the pictures show! So beautifully decorated and very clean. They really think of everything! The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen has everything. The hot tub worked great! So much fun playing ping pong and some video games. If I could have one suggestion I’d say maybe put some bean bags in the basement area for more space to sit. But that did not hinder any fun. I will definitely come back again and recommend this place.

Easy to find and check in, very nice high end bedding at least as good as We have at home was a nice surprise. Helpful notes explained the few things that needed them and things were right where you’d expect them

Beautiful cabin, fully stocked and all the amenities, very well kept and decorated. My family enjoyed the hot tub, walking down the boardwalk to the cove, and proximity to our tours. Perfect stay for visiting Mammoth Cave NP, Kentucky Down Under and the National Corvette Museum.

Another perfect stay at The Shady Pine. We just love this cabin. This was our second trip here and we will be back. I just love all the cozy spaces, the beautiful surroundings, etc. We love all the special touches like towels for the hot-tub, coffee bar, blankets for cuddling on the couch and blankets for the campfire. The basement was such a fun place to hang out too - especially for my preteen son who found the XBOX! Perfect spot for kids/teenagers. We will be back!

We love this place so much! It’s our second time staying here because it’s so lovely. The hosts are super helpful, responsive, and thoughtful. This place has everything you need with so many really thoughtful touches. It’s a cabin, but they’ve made it so cozy and warm. We love walking around the area—it’s beautiful! We’re already thinking of our next trip to get back here!

Our group had 6 adults staying here, this was a wonderful cabin very clean and well thought out. They had everything that we needed and even gave ideas where to eat and where to get things from. You can stay active outside especially in summer months or you can relax all day inside in the winter months like we did.

We love coming here for Christmas. It’s a beautiful property with all the amenities you could think of. It’s very clean and cozy, with plenty of room for the whole family. Melissa was so kind to work with us, due to the snow coming in. I absolutely love coming here!

Gorgeous cabin in a scenic, quiet area with a couple other cabins on the path. Cabin was beautifully decorated and filled with all the amenities. Coffee bar was fully stocked, along with water. We made our Thanksgiving meal there and had no trouble, everything you need was there. Beds were more comfortable than my own at home. Bathrooms clean. Living room very comfortable and plenty of room for everyone. My kids loved all the games. Communication from owner was quick and very helpful. We arrived at night and definitely needed the extra tips she sent us on directions in addition to gps. Nothing negative about our stay. Book this cabin you won’t regret it!

We loved our stay at Shady Pine cabin. The decor was lovely and there were so many thoughtful touches such as: blankets for outside, plenty of firewood, campfire supplies including S'mores, fully stocked kitchen, games, and a great local guide. We went to Downing and bought fresh steaks and sausage, and Kenny's for local cheese. Had a great weekend relaxing and enjoying the Fall foilage.

This was a great property. Very clean and comfortable for our family of 5. It’s about an hour from mammoth cave national park. It’s in a very remote location. We were able to get grocery delivery, but there were no options for restaurant delivery.

It’s a great retreat place and within driving distance of some wonderful activities like Mammoth Cave and Barren River State Park! Hope to be back again soon!

This house was the most tastefully decorated and fully stocked of any rental I have ever stayed at. All of the appliances and furnishings are high quality. The downstairs gaming area was bonus that we were unaware of! And, it was utilized by our family a bunch!! All of the "extra" touches were so nice... From the campfire essentials, including smores, to the box of "in the event you forgot something" bathroom essentials. Mary & Melissa thought of everything. We LOVED the rock garden, the fire pit and all of the beautiful plants and landscaping. The coffee and cocktail bar was fantastic. You will not be disappointed in anything!!!

A truly wonderful house. A friend we were staying with there said you could tell someone took care of this place with love and attention to detail - and that is so true. Very clean, very nicely decorated and easy to feel at home in. There is a warmth and comfort to the place and so much has been thought of - a coffee station, stuff for smores, blankets and little notes with suggestions for a great stay or directions on how to use something. We highly recommend this place,

The cabin was perfect! It was charming and was so well stocked having everything we needed. It was obvious that the owner had worked hard to think of every detail making each guest’s stay special. We loved Narrows Marina (had a horrible experience with Barren River Resort Marina.)We purchased our meat from Downing Cattle Company. Not only were they super nice, but their meat was delicious. We stopped by Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese on our way home which was a neat experience, and we purchased some yummy cheese for gifts. The area the cabin is located in is so beautiful! Our morning run and driving the back roads was so peaceful. It was a great trip in a wonderful cabin in a beautiful location!

This place is excellent!!! Cleanest place I’ve ever stayed, since using VRBO. It was stocked with everything you could possibly need, and then some. Melissa was awesome and so helpful. We certainly plan on going back!!

I visited Shady Pine with my parents and family (8 in total) and we all had a wonderful time. House is well stocked and comfortable. Basement game room was a hit with the entire family. We ended up renting a pontoon one day and had a blast trying to fling the kids off the tube and swimming in the lake. Couple notes for anyone considering staying here: - Do it! It's a really nice house and the location is great. Bait shop is nearby if you're interested in fishing and the kayaks are in great shape and super fun to take out on the lake. - Owner was very responsive and helpful to any questions we had. Felt very comfortable asking her advice about nearby stores or letting her know when we had a question about the house. - This part of the lake isn't great for swimming. We tried...but the water was only ~3 feet deep. We ended up splashing around for a bit (and losing one shoe) but it isn't the type of dock you can really jump off. It may be higher other times of year. You can however take the kayaks out and find a swimming spot (it gets deeper out of cove) or it's a pretty quick drive to the Barren River State Park which has a nice beach and boat rentals. - The dock is down a lot of stairs and across a long boardwalk. My be challenging for some older folks, but the kids and I made the trek several times to go fishing and kayaking. - Hot tub was clean and in great condition. We kept it pretty cool because it was 90+ the entire weekend we were there. - There are a couple houses within eyesight but we only saw one other person for half a day or so. Felt really private most of the time.
