This was the perfect cottage for the whole family! There are so many great things about this house, especially al the details throughout that made it feel really special. Location: It’s in a great spot in the heart of Kill Devil Hills and just a short two block walk to the beach. From the oldest person in our group (70) to the youngest (3), it was an easy and nice stroll to the beach. It’s also in walking distance to some great restaurants and ice cream, and a short drive to grocery stores, pharmacies, mini-golf and more. Amenities: The owners have thought of everything so you don’t have to! The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with all your cooking needs, and plenty of plates, cups, utensils and serving platters. It made cooking meals at home so easy and convenient. Decor: So beautifully decorated with amazing details that really made you feel like you were on vacation. And the house is so clean!! Hosts: Sarah was always so responsive, leading up to and during our stay. They’ve really thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Other things we loved: - Beach gear like chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and even a rolling cart were available. It was so convenient that we didn’t have to bring our own! - Outdoor shower (soooo nice after coming back from the beach) - Swings and rocking chairs underneath the house - great place to relax with the whole gang We can’t recommend this cottage enough. We’d definitely come back!!

This was our first time in the OBX and we selected Kill Devil Hills as the location we wanted to stay in. I was looking for a house close to the beach for my family of five (kids - 10, 12, and 15) and my parents. The house was perfect and beautiful! There was plenty of space for everyone, we could walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes and the owners provided everything you need (plates, games, beach chairs, etc.)! We really loved hanging out in the underneath outdoor area after we got back from the beach and I even went out there at night to relax when everyone else was getting ready for bed. Sarah (owner) provided regular communication leading up to our stay as well as through our stay. Her recommendations were great and if we had a question she responded almost instantly. We really enjoyed our week and will definitely come back to this property. I would recommend this to anyone looking in KDH.

Thoughtfully prepared to share- comfortable, attractive home stockpiled with what you hope they have! Our favorite spots were all outdoors- the swings, the adirondack chairs, and definitely the outdoor shower!

The home was beautiful, clean, and a quick walk to beach access. HOWEVER, there are a few things to consider before booking this home. The home is ring monitored. Note cameras are used to monitor the common areas outside, including the porches, hot tub and bar area on the ground level which made us feel uncomfortable. There was miscommunication regarding contracted number of guests versus max guests in home. My mother and her friend surprised me by driving in town to visit for the night knowing there was an extra bedroom available but not knowing the contracted terms. I was then temporarily charged $300 on the first night for having additional occupants at the home. Although the host messaged me on Vrbo, I did not see the message and I feel the host could have contacted my personal phone to discuss the matter. This truly put a huge damper on a weekend with friends and family. Upon on-time arrival the cleaning person was still there for 20-30 minutes as we began to unpack. Linen sets were not complete (missing pillow cases or fitted sheets) but we made do. The host was notified. The fridge was not cold, as I assumed the fridge may have been kept open for too long when being cleaned before our entry. We notified the host. We had to then place all perishables in coolers and pickup additional ice. At the end of our stay the host claimed that we caused damage to a wall charging $1,500 to the insurance company. The claim was that the door handle of the downstairs bedroom put a hole in the wall. I was not aware of this damage at the time we left the home. If this was an accident, this surely could have been prevented by adding a door stopper or wall protector for prevention. Looking back, I would not spend my hard earned money and limited vacation days to feel as though I am being monitored and having to frequently communicate with host. If you are a quiet, small family with kids who won’t spill, stain, or even bring sand in the home from their feet, this would be the right place for you. Again, it was a beautiful home in a perfect location close to the beach, restaurants, and bars. The hosts have certainly put a lot of time and heart into this beach cottage but should reconsider listing as a vacation rental.

It’s difficult to put into words how wonderfully pristine, beautifully designed and absolutely guest-oriented this vacation home was! Our blended family of ten felt so welcomed; we now have amazing memories to last a lifetime. Sarah was ready to answer any and all inquiries! She sent several recommendations throughout our booking and stay. Everything was labeled well and supplied in advance, right down to the smallest items that slipped our mind. We so appreciated the open line of communication before and after our stay. It’s obvious that a lovely family owns and LOVES this home... and we were very humbled to be able to share it for a week. There isn’t a rating high enough for our experience!

This was one of the most thoughtfully designed and well stocked beach homes we’ve ever rented. It was a short walk to the beach, easily done even with the littlest legs in our party (age four) and trips home for lunch and naps. Plenty of room for kids and adults. There is nothing missing in the kitchen, so easy to keep everyone fed and happy. What makes this home extra special is the fantastic outdoor space! We moved our toiletries outside to the fabulous outdoor shower. Can’t tell you how easy the outdoor shower made coming home from the beach with kids. Once the kids were out for the night the hot tub, swinging chairs and outdoor games made it a perfect hangout for adults. The homeowners were very attentive and communicative. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation. The kids had so so much fun with the bunk beds and the movie room. So happy to have had a chance to stay at this great home!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Sarah and Joshua’s home. It has been beautifully renovated and decorated. The kitchen was fully appointed which made it very easy to cook in on some evenings. Sarah is very responsive to questions and a generous host. The home is in a great location - close to the grocery store, restaurants, and shops. Also quick walk to the beach...
