Easy access to beach, centrally located with great front porch

Nice clean bathrooms. House is old but has lots of character. We had trouble learning how to work the thermostat. We only used the master on second level and that bed was super comfortable. The front storm door was broken. Had to prop it open so it wouldn’t get worse. It was also hard to pull our cars far enough off the road not to block the sidewalk.

Perfect for 2 couples with kids. We had the best time. Ocean views and access were amazing.

This rental home is truly two separate units, connected only by exterior stairs. Upstairs is the nicer of the two with great ocean views. Downstairs, although decorated well, is just dark, musty and creepy. The home does have updated furnishings but the updates to the property felt sketchy… wonky wiring, porch off of the master bathroom felt as if it was going to fall in, heavy window in kitchen would slam shut. The kitchen was maybe too well stocked , a whole lot of stuff but no cabinet left available to put our groceries. Same in the master bedroom, the only closet was locked for owner and the wardrobe rack that was provided was filled with linens.

We having been coming to edisto for 7 years and stayed ocean front every year except this time. This house was perfect. The set up is great! It was clean and very well maintained. Fenced in yard was perfect! Porch is absolutely wonderful with a screened in portion as well as an area in the sun! Will definitely book this house again! Location is perfect with an empty lot in front so views were unobstructed and less sand than an ocean front home! Already counting down the days until next year!

We loved our stay at Moonlighting! The house is beautifully furnished and decorated in a beachy theme. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchenware and entire house was very clean. We loved having a fenced yard for our dog. So many options to relax and watch the ocean, on the screened in porch, front porch, and our favorite place for morning coffee, the pink room off the master bedroom. The beach is located right across the street. Many dining options right on Edisto Island.

The renovated bathrooms are the best we’ve had at Edisto. The kitchen is well supplied. We love the screened porch that has nice views across the road.

This house had significant issues with cockroaches. I contacted VACASA and they promptly sent someone out to spray. As a result, I had to leave the property for a bit due to the fumes. Unfortunately, the spraying did not significantly reduce the issue. For example, a glass of any sweet liquid could not be left unattended, even briefly, because a cockroach would be floating it the glass upon return. At night, we could hear what sounded like an army of cockroaches in the hood of the stove. Each morning, we would go around the house sweep up dead cockroaches and/or killing those who were not quite done. To stay here, we were constantly cleaning all surfaces and were never able to fully relax. Very disappointing because, otherwise, the house is absolutely adorable and perfectly located.

I fell in love with this house the moment I stepped foot in it. I love the older feel with a more modern look. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfy and the air conditioner(s) worked great and kept the house nice and cool. The location was spectacular and the views amazing! We really enjoyed the porch.

We really enjoyed our stay. Accomodations were comfortable and spacious. We would rent again. The closeness to the beach was great and the view was fantastic. Hopefully the open lots will remain that way. Area was very quiet even though the house was located on the main drag. Definately would rent again.

The house is quite old and to our surprise down stairs is totally separate from upstairs. Down stairs air conditioner is extremely noise as is in the upstairs master room. The house was very dirty. Even though we paid $150.00 pet fee upstairs as down stairs the floor was full of dog hair. WE left the house much cleaner then when we arrived. The house does have everything you need and the fact that it is in a great location we had a great time.

Really liked the location of the house. Was easy to get to the beach and restaurants and shopping was close by. The upper level has been remodeled and is nice and usable, but we could not say the same for the lower level. The space downstairs looked nice online and is decorated well, but we quickly realized when we got there that it wasn’t the greatest of spaces. It was very buggy and had a weird musty smell. My son had a bug crawling on him one night and he ended up coming upstairs and sleeping on the pull out trundle of the daybed my daughter was sleeping on. The downstairs area was unusable space for us due to the smell and bug problems. The fenced in area outside was okay; worked well for quick trips outside for our dogs, but we walked them every morning as well. The beach in front of the house was wonderful. Not crowded and great place to hang out for hours, swim, watch pelicans and dolphins and walk. The upstairs was mostly clean, but we had to rewash dishes and mugs before we used them and the cleaners must have swept the dog hair from the previous renters under the couch b/c there was a ton of hair under there. The front porch and deck area were both a little crowded with furniture, but nice to hang out on in the mornings and evenings.

Reviewer Comments: While the location of this home is ideal, with a full ocean view and wonderful sea breeze, the experience in the home itself was less than ideal. The bottom level is not sealed well around window units and doors and there were a lot of bugs. We went to Ace and bought bug spray and sprayed 2 days in a row, then called Atwood to have them come spray for a third day and there were still bugs. When running the washer in the bottom of the home sewer water came up in the toliet and shower and the smell was awful. We had to have atwood out to fix that. The cleaning crew missed a lot and there was a lot we had to clean to be comfortable. When pulling back a comforter to put sheets on a bed the mattress cover was covered in what looked to be bug smear from killing the waterbugs, that is my guess, but it was all over the mattress cover, so before I could even make the beds I had to wash all the mattress covers and comforters. The grill was disappointing in size and condition as well. Though the kitchen was well stocked with all applicances, utensils, etc. I have been vacationing on Edisto for over 20 years, and this was the first time that I was disappointed with a home. What makes it worse is the amount of money included in the price for cleaning, when I have to clean upon arrival, and leave it better than I found it. Again, if the condition of the home is no concern, the beach view and breeze are wonderful.

They continue to do updates to improve the inside and it's function. We would love to see the back yard be more usable, maybe an added back deck with a grill more in the shade. The location, views, front deck and it being pet friendly is our favorite features. We came for my wife's birthday and could not have had a better time. As a matter of fact, our stay was so great, I checked the availability to see if we could stay another week. Unfortunately, the unit was booked thru the end of August. We will, however, be coming back to stay at Moonlighting again as soon as possible! From the flooring that is coming up, to the exposed water lines, AC filters that look like they have never been cleaned, to the smell, made it almost impossible to stay. After hours of cleaning and numerous fragrance misters, we decided to tough it out. I would only recommend this property for a stay on the top level only.
