There were a significant number of issues with the residence. Firstly, the stairwell is unsafe and non-compliant, the first step actually enters the hall which means that someone could fall down the stairs without even entering the stairs. My mother and children almost fell as they entered the house and walked through the hall the evening we arrived. It was a source of major distress, this risk should be disclosed to the renter. My wife called to ask if there was a baby gate as we had a 2 year old coming with another family the following day, which they replied no, there was no baby gate. Moreover, the use of a baby gate would reduce the risk to children, but would still pose some risk as a trip hazard at night because the stair entry is 7-10 centimetres into the hallway. To our dismay there was no door or gate, it is apparent that this is because the house has been retrofitted and renovated, albeit in some odd and risky ways. A further issue was the toilet next to the entrance, that opened outwards, appearing to look like a linen cupboard, its odd placement meant that people did not want to use it. It also didn't have a lock. The downstairs toilet and shower, was dark, smelt unclean and the bed and lighting at the lower level made it barely hospitable. We chose not to use it because of the smell and because it was much colder, choosing to bunk together rather than have members of our group have to endure it. The excessive use of room diffusers throughout (I counted 8 in the house!) did little to mask the musty smell coming from downstairs. There should be a baby gate, or ideally a door at the top level. It was not complaint during our stay and we would be terribly upset of a future family stayed here and had a fall. The house was full of cobwebs, and we actually found a dead bird out on the decking. There was insufficient toilet paper and toiletries, and we found the lack of some basic hospitality like some UHT milk cartons and basics coffee, tea and sugar.

Overall, perfect base for our family of six, great for our teens & 4 year old twins. Excellent views over the beach to the east of town from the balcony which was also safe for the 4 year olds. Good internet & smart TV were definitely bonuses. Well equipped kitchen with all appliances even though we're barely using. Able to park securely in garage even with roof box mounted. Would have been great to stay longer, (next time).

Nothing much, maybe just a slightly damp smell in lower level games room / bedroom but not so bad.
