Perfect size place for our family of six and the owner was very friendly. Great place right near everything you could imagine.

Very comfortable, well cared for and well equipped home, even if the layout is a bit strange. We loved sitting on the front porch watching the world go by. The host was most friendly and helpful. It is a convenient place to stay when visiting Lake James and we will happily stay here again.

Quaint house. Very Clean. Four bunk beds, double bed, and twin bed. Slept 7 of us easily. Lots of counter space in the kitchen. WiFi. Lots of towels. Convenient location to town. It listed a hot tub in the listing but there wasn’t one. I think that was an accident.

This property was cozy and had old country living feel to it. We had 4 adults and so slept comfortably. The host was very accommodating with our parking needs. Will definitely stay here again if we are back in the area.

This is a cozy home with amazing views of the mountains - you can see the sunrise over the mountains on one side of the home and the sunset over the mountains on the other side. The home is 10 mins from downtown Morganton, and very close to some great hiking. The kitchen is well-appointed and beds comfy. The property manager was very nice and accommodating. We continued to extend our stay as we enjoyed staying here.

My son, husband and me, and grandsons enjoyed our stay immensely. The home is well-appointed with many amenities and has an amazing view of the mountains. The host is very accommodating and thoughtful. We had a lovely stay. Love this area

Comfy like at Grandma's House
The home was clean and well tended after. It is also a vintage home with a few modern touches so keep that in mind if you are looking for something modern or chic (I rarely am). We were comfortable in the home for our one night stay. One thing to note that I did not realize is that the bunk bed room is open to the living room area. Overall I feel very lucky to have shared space with what felt like a very special family home.

Weekend at grandmas
This house brought back so many great memories. The style and interior was so similar to my grandmothers house i felt like i was at home. Very clean and comfortable with room for family to spread out and relax. Michael was a gracious host and gave us vegetables from the large garden on the property including one of the best watermelons i have had in a long time. Neighborhood is quiet and morganton is a very short ride away. Will certainly stay here again if we are in this area.

Wonderful Cottage, wonderful host!
This is my second stay at Michael's sweet cottage. It is historic, peaceful, with a front porch and garden and a beautifully stunning drive into downtown Morganton (5 miles!) I've already booked another stay!

Historic Home Great Porch
I so enjoyed my stay at Buddy and Dot's place. Filled with the ambiance and memories of two sweet souls and days gone by, the home was charming and comfortable, and transported me to my own days of growing up. The beautiful garden adds to a homey feel along with the cozy "old timey" porch. Michael accommodated a special request I met, for which I am super grateful!

True southern hospitality!
Clean, beautiful home in great location! Short drive to Morganton downtown restaurants and Lake James. Tons of hikes just a short distance away. Not to mention we were treated like family by our hosts!

Lake James
We enjoyed our time visiting Lake James
and The Upper Creek Falls was a wonderful hike to a beautiful waterfall. Everything was close by
restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations
and fun things to do. The host was very nice and generous giving us veggies from the garden. We loved seeing the fireworks from the front porch.
Overall we had a enjoyable time.
