Check-in was easy. Room was very clean and updated. We stayed 2 nights and appreciated the continental breakfast each morning. The pool & hot tub looked very inviting but didn't fit into our plans this time.

The room was clean and spacious. However, the furniture is very dated. I felt like I walked back in time to the early 90's. Actually, the halls and lobby were dated as well. There was a lovely balcony, no furniture to enjoy it. The refrigerator had one setting - freeze! My husband tried adjusting it, but it didn't work. We had to toss the items we brought because they were frozen solid by morning. Also, the shower nozzle was just a stream of water which made showering interesting. The one good thing about the room was the mattress. It was comfortable. I'm not quite sure why it's called a "resort," as I didn't see anything that would define it as such.

The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Unfortunately, overnight with closed windows a terrible smell (possibly curing adhesive) became very bad.

We really enjoyed the location because it was within walking distance to Monterey Peninsula and Monarch Butterfly Garden. They advertised a "continental" breakfast, but it was so much better than what I anticipated. The layout and decor of hotel were very pleasing.

Place is in an excellent location at the very end of the peninsula, walking distance to the beach/shore line. Staff is nice and room is clean. Bed is comfortable shower is hot and strong. It would be all 5 star if not for the walking sound from upper floor. Overall we had a great stay.

King size bed was ok. Heater was quiet not noisy.
Clean room and bath, nothing to complain about.
Not enough coffee packets, only one regular and one decaf, there were 2 of us, don't like decaf.

While we enjoyed most of the accommodations at our hotel we were slightly underwhelmed by the small bathroom for the size of the room and the breakfast the next morning. It was moderately close to what we wanted to do in the area. I also wish the air conditioner had been in the bedroom and not the seating area and the fan had been more centered overhead.

The continental breakfast was just bagels, muffins, croissants, fruit, juice, and hard boiled eggs. You pay so much for the rooms, the least they could do is provide a decent breakfast, besides Costco items that were stale. There is no air circulation in the rooms either, it gets so stuffy.

This place is wonderful I really love it. The location the facility conditions the front desk lady everything is awesome. I enjoyed my stay here and I will come back for sure.

Check in was super easy and the staff was over the top friendly. The Continental breakfast was perfect. We were sad to leave but they made check out really easy.

It is a unique property with interesting planters and plants all along the hallway and in the lobby. There are also some interesting sculptures. The room was large and airy, had a nice fireplace with a super easy lighting log in it, and was just very comfortable.

This is my third time staying at monarch resort, we really enjoy coming here, kids love the pool and hot tub, and it is very close the Monterey Bay aquarium and Carmel beaches

I liked the hotel's location close to the Monarch butterfly sanctuary and not too far from the beach. Walking anywhere from the hotel was subject to no sidewalks, so one had to look for oncoming traffic and didn't feel safe to walk

Clean beds, the room by the street has traffic noise. Screen door dusty . Parking very convenient. Breakfast good. Doesn’t provide toothpaste and brush.

We picked a room with two beds. Once we arrived in the room there was a large wet spot on the bed. We went to the front desk and they upgraded our room to the suit. It was much more comfortable and was clean.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the indoors planters with monarch butterfly decorations and aquatic statues. Great breakfast options to get the day started. Our room was clean and comfy and we enjoyed using the fireplace. The pool was slightly heated and the jacuzzi was relaxing. Loved the close proximity to the beach and seeing deer in public spaces!

This was our second stay. We love the location near the beaches and the quiet neighborhood. The pool is slightly heated and the jacuzzi was relaxing. I love the hallway planters decorated with Monarch butterflies and various statues. The breakfast items are suitable to get the day started with boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins, pastries, fruits, oj, milk, and coffee. Our room was comfy and clean with freshly cleaned carpet. I enjoyed using the fireplace with complimentary logs. While the mattress does need to be updated, we still got a restful sleep. The staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Convenient and affordable on Monterey Peninsula located in Pacific Grove. We got first floor unit with balcony and fireplace. But didn’t use fireplace in July. Will return someday hopefully soon!

You get so much when you start here- the in room fireplace, the outside pool and hot tub, the daily continental breakfast. Everyone was so friendly.

It was just a short walk to the ocean. I liked the extra counter space and mirror in the bathroom. The room was pretty dated. There were some rios in the carpet. But, for the price so close to the water it was a good value.

This place is clean and cozy. Affordable too. The continental breakfast lives up to the mark. I would stay here again!

Our room was very clean. It could use a new mattress but over all we were comfortable for the two nights we stayed. The grounds and halls are well kept and beautifully decorated. The pool is a comfortable temperature. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Breakfast items were sufficient for a good morning start.

Antiquated furnishings. Time warp 1970’s style. Overall cheesy. For $300 a night I expected something nice. Needs total revamping to bring it into 21st century. Bathroom clean but spartan. Continental breakfast ok, croissants, muffins , bagels. Art work and statues quite hideous and dusty. Would never recommend it to a friend.
