Beautiful old coaching inn. We had beautiful rooms which were tastefully decorated in the main building. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely and quiet location

First time visit to this fabulous hotel, everything was exceptional about our one night stay. The hotel itself is pristine, very clean and exquisitely decorated with stylish furnishings and fittings. The staff are very friendly, especially Elizabeth, the General Manager. Our room was the Henley Regatta Room, a superior double room. It was more than superior, it was breath-taking. The room had clearly been recently refurbished (as had all rooms I understand), very clean, exceptionally well furnished and decorated. The huge bed was very, very comfortable. The bar was very welcoming, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was also faultless and delicious. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, booking is highly advised, nearly every table was in use. The menu items were traditional pub grub type cuisine, which was satisfactory, but not exceptional. Saying that, I would eat in the restaurant again and I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

The George is a very old building opposite Dorchester (on Thames) Abbey in a lovely little village. The rooms are individually names and themed and well decorated. Really interesting hotel. Good bar, good food. Saskia (manager) and the staff will look after you.

We have stayed in some lovely places over the years, but this Hotel and particularly our beautiful room tops anything we have ever experienced… Words cannot do justice to a Suite just steeped in history, beauty and elegance. It was a privilege to be able to stay here, with this amount of quality. All the staff were perfectly friendly and professional, the food in their restaurant was excellent. For a couple in their 70’s to say it was the finest stay we have encountered, says it all. Simply superb…

We brought my 91 year old mother-in-law for a short break. They insured that her room was an easy access room which we did request on the original booking. The staff were excellent and very helpful. Another great short stay. Thank you!

We had an amazing stay. We loved the hotel and were made to feel very welcome. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. The room was very comfortable with plenty of extras and a great shower.

Nice hotel. Originally an old coaching inn.Helpful and friendly staff. Food was good and reasonable selection. The room was clean and comfortable. Only downside was the public transport. Long walk for bus into Oxford which is not a car friendly city. Park and ride an option.We bussed in but got a taxi back for £30 Ish. Despite this we would recommend.

Great for vehicular access to Oxford, and good on site parking. No disturbance from road traffic at night. Nice choice of cooked breakfast, Dean is clearly an experienced chef. Will certainly be booking further stays

Nice hotel, staff all very helpful. If you are able to book ahead, the room prices are very reasonable. It would be nice to have the dinner menu at least changing with the seasons. Lovely quiet location at night, with no road noise although can get a little noisy from 6.30am onwards with deliveries and bin men driving over courtyard between most of the bedrooms.

Absolutely superb,beautiful property with fabulous surroundings.Our room extremely clean and well appointed, we had an excellent evening meal and breakfast,and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel

Really lovely stay, all the staff were wonderful and the room was amazing. Could not fault it at all and the price was really reasonable. Oh and the food at dinner and breakfast was spot on. Will definitely return next time I’m working in the area.

Saskia (General Manager) is doing a great job at the George. I always receive a great, friendly welcome and am well looked after during my stay. The rest of the staff are great too. I continue to return here which is testament to the hotel when there are so many others I can choose from.

Staff and food were excellent

I reckon this was about my 20th stay. If that doesn't say I like the hotel, nothing will. Lovely village, lovely hotel, good food etc. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Service and staff and breakfast and room were excellent. With only 25 rooms, the hotel was never over busy at breakfast or inthe courtyard. All very conducive to a pleasnat relaxing holiday.

The George is now my goto place when in the area on business. Not expensive, friendly, and good restaurant. Always afraid to recommend too highly in case it becomes too popular and I can’t get a room when I need one!!

The George Hotel was a great place to stay for my son's wedding at Fison Barn, Little Whittenham. We stayed for two nights and wished that we had booked for longer. The staff was excellent, the food was fantastic, and the rooms were characterful. My mother stayed in the accessible room and enjoyed the facilities easily. We hope to get back to you soon.
