Lovel apartment, quiet but not far from centre

Check in at 3 Rue Duhamel was fast and efficient. The reception staff was friendly, accommodating and helpful. Our jacuzzi apartment was perfect for 2 pax. Glad that it was on the first floor as there was no elevator in the building. We were grateful that management charged us for 2 days of parking instead of 3, as we arrived late in the evening. We found the whirlpool ready and already heated and this was much appreciated after our long day in Paris and the train travel. The bathroom was roomy and had lots of towels and a hair dryer; a shampoo-cum-liquid body gel was provided, but no hair conditioner and soap bar. The kitchen had all the utensils and appliances one needs for a short stay. An electric kettle was provided, but no coffee maker. The queen-sized bed was comfortable. There was enough cabinet space with hangers. The area was very close to Musée des Beaux Arts de Rennes and there were many nice restaurants, bars and groceries close by. Our only discomfort was in some of the evenings when the apartment felt stuffy and warm (we stayed in the 3rd week of September). There was no airconditioning; we had to keep the garden/back door open to let the breeze in. Despite this, we felt safe and werent bothered by insects. We were warned about limited housekeeping; however, our aparment was cleaned and the dirty towels were replaced daily. Wifi was very slow though. Overall, it was a very nice stay at a reasonable cost.

Receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The location was great, very central and close to everything.

Check in was a shambles. After checking in we found our room had not been cleaned from the previous guest. We were told to come back in an hour. After an hour and a half we came back and the room was still being serviced. We had to wait a further 15 minutes. The room that we were allocated on the second floor had a significant amount of space with limited head height. The pictures on the website are obviously of a different sized room. It would be OK if you were about 8 years old or really small. So not really satisfactory. On the plus side the rooms are quite well equipped and are reasonably new and clean. The cleaning lady was super nice but front staff not so much considering our check in was unsatisfactory. So if you are planning to stay and you are more than 4 feet tall avoid the second floor.

We are so pleased to have spent a few days here. Upgrading to this private accommodation was well worth it as it gave us a patio space within a courtyard setting. It was quite difficult to work this out in the booking process, however. This is comfortable and well-equipped and works well if the weather is good enough to sit outside. As the tv is only watchable from the bed, this is worth bearing in mind if it matters to you but it only has French channels.
