Lets be honest, its a no frills overnight stopover. Its no good for a romantic getaway unless you are foreseeing a divorce. Great shower. Very small double bed. It was adequate for our needs but look elsewhere if you are seeking comfort.

Very basic. Definitely not worth the money. The room was in the basement and smelt damp. Needs updating. Convenient for train service and close to shopping area. Staff were friendly.

Pleasant stay

This property was adequate. It does not have an elevator or air conditioning. The room was clean, though very used and worn. The size of the sink was comically small. We were there on a hot summer evening and left the windows open and the traffic was loud. The staff did help me find parking and were kind when I was having difficulty with my phone. It's nothing fancy, but it did the job. Great location!

Honestly, the staff (whilst pleasant) or owners, must be providing false positive reviews, because this hotel is far off base from a 7. Whoever is leaving 10/10 reviews is being deliberately misleading. Cracked shower tiles, leaking sink, leaking shower, shower door that doesn’t close, pot lights falling from the ceiling, caulking with mould and falling out, bathroom door handle DUCT TAPED on… There are far, far better hotels that aren’t basic, dirty, damaged, and dated.

Friendly staff, great location and excellent value

The room didn’t reflect the room booking pictures. There was no hair dryer in the room and there was faeces still in the toilet when I arrived.

Friendly service and safe

Our room was very small, but that’s ok however needs a lot of work and upgrading. Torn curtains, peeling paint off walls and ceiling , broken toilet seat, horrible dirty silicone in shower area with cracked tiles, temperature hard to manage in shower, broken extractor fan. No bedside table. So noisy as right next to the stairs and no sound insulation in-between rooms so couldn’t sleep due to heavy footsteps all night long. All laundry just piled outside our door. No replenishing of tea bags. Would not recommend this place even if it was free.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed staying here! It was in a really walkable area

Staff were friendly but didn’t really have much interaction. Was run down throughout but room had been cleaned each day. Car park had space for only 6 cars and even then it was super tight. Shared kitchen communal area which didn’t look great albeit I didn’t use it. Distance to Richmond station 3-5 min walk.

Nice warm welcome but this place has seen better days. The windowsill was lacking paint, bathroom very tired. Pillows cheap 2" thick. Found a lovely place round the corner for breakfast. If you want somewhere just to get your head down then its ok

It was so bad , found alternative accommodation on arrival

'Think of Faulty Towers' the exact words from the person on reception as we arrived. Our room was down in the basement and did not look like the photos when we booked. The bathroom door jammed when you closed it and both myself and partner had a job to open it, so we ended up not closing the door for fear of getting trapped. None of the windows locked bearing in mind we were basement level and on the street side, we bought it to the attention of the person on the desk on exit who told us we were wrong, even though one of the windows was physically missing the locking mechinism. We also told them about the door on the bathroom and they blamed the weather. The bed was so uncomfy and pillows were like pancakes. The tv randomly would switch itself on and flick through all the stations for no reason. Bath was missing enamel in numerous patches. Extension cord was just cellotaped from wall through to under bed on top of the carpet. So random. Brilliant location however, we could walk into central Richmond and there was parking. Hotel was warm and shower was good.

free parking on the spot; warm and cosy (but no ac, wouldn´t risk it in the summer, even a British one). Floors skeak a lot and there is no elevator. windowsn are to thin especially if you are staying on the street side.

I left and book another hotel. The condition of the room was terrible.

Very friendly host, certainly wasn't paradise but did me for one night. Has parking which is a bonus. WiFi decent.

A quiet, clean and comfortable stay.

It's basic and the price reflects that. It's a great position close to Richmond Train and Tube. Staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Comfortable room and value for money for the area and type of hotel. Toilet hadn't been flushed/cleaned properly after previous guest or may be staff used... hair on bathroom wall, but otherwise comfortable room and friendly staff.

A nice simple hotel. A bit rough around the ages, due to age. But a pleasant stay. I would use this hotel again.

Room too hot. Meant to be a double room but the bed was a 3/4.

The Shandon is a bit of a down at heel hotel ,reflected with its low price. Car park is small but adequate. Some work needed in the room, particularly the shower door. Wifi was not good. On the plus side, the staff was very helpful and friendly

Convenient location and staff were very friendly and helpful. The actual facilities are rundown and not in the best condition. If you need a place to crash and aren't planning on staying in your hotel, then this place fits the bill. Room was quite expensive for what it was but there aren't many hotels in this area especially when there is an event at Twickenham Stadium.

Toilet leaked, window lock broken, toilet seat broken, bed rolled as the room was leaning, hence all the cracked tiles in the toilet i imagine, shower leaked hence a towel on the floor to mop up the water, ripped curtain, but good location for London, i cant say anything else but that...

Check-in was easy and quick. The receptionist was polite and helpful re: parking at the rear of the building. My room was ok for the most part, but it could do with a little tlc. Most things were just cosmetic and didn't impact my stay, however the window handles do need fixing and the pillows could be plumper (very flat). My room did have a slight smell at first which may have been old smoke (?), it did not have a "no smoking" sign in the door like the other rooms next to mine. Overall I slept well and it had what I needed for a one night stay close to the station and motorway. Would stay again.
