Beautiful property with stunning views

This property is advertised for its location, privacy and most importantly the private hot tub and private pool. Thou the listed does mention in the “fine” print that there is an additional charge per day if you actually want to use the hot tub.. which is insane to me. Advertise a property with a Hot Tub and Pool, but if the guest wants to actually use the Hot Tub, you have to pay extra. Yes this is listed in the fine print, which I did not see prior, but what is NOT listed is that if you want to use the pool, they charge you an additional amount nearly equal the per night cost of the rental PER DAY to heat it. It’s NOT usable in this area of the country unless it’s heated. You do not get this information until the day before your booking when the host sends you information about accessing the property. It’s only after you have booked, paid and a day before your arrival that you find out, you now need to pay a fee nearly equal to the per night cost of rental A DAY for the pool to be usable. We attempted to resolve with host prior to arrival. NO RESPONSE to the actual issues. Currently filing a complaint with VRBO for the host violating VRBO guidelines on property description Hopefully the Host will do the right thing and refund, as we left 20 mins after we checked in. Do not rent here if you want a pool or hot tub.

The space and location are beautiful. Apparently there was supposed to be check-in info (wifi, etc) next to the thermostat but there was nothing there. We realized shortly after check in that none of the electrical in the front half of the house worked. Reached out thru VRBO app - no response. Reached out again. No response. Called the number. Someone named Ray (not the host) answered. He came down to look at the breaker panel. Could not fix it and could not get an electrician. He recommended we contact the host thru the app, which we did, and still got no response. Once it got dark at 530, half of the house was useless. We had made plans to cook dinner, but since it was pitch black, we decided to go out to eat. So, the weekend was a bust. No lights in half the house (including the exterior balconies). No power to the flat screen. All of that might have been okay had the host communication not been so pathetic. I finally heard from her before we checked out with a brief apology and the offer off 20% off, which is ridiculous. I responded that 50% off would be more appropriate but have not heard from her in over 24 hours and I don't expect to. I've contacted AmEx to get a proper refund. While this space is beautiful, the hosts communication is terrible and I would not recommend this rental.

An absolute upgrade in living and style. This is such an inspired dwelling. Everything was perfect.

We're already thinking about when we can get back to this property. In a heartbeat. My wife and 12-yr old daughter and I were looking for a 2-night escape from L.A., and have been missing Joshua Tree for too long, and The Box was available. It's everything everyone else has already said. Serene, ideally located, clean. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms and kitchen great, and the jacuzzi and pool made for a perfect cold plunge/hot tub routine. My wife has a chemical sensitivity, so when we first walked in, we were hit with the smell of the cleaning products and had to air it out a few hours. It was a rough night, but eventually normalized. I communicated with the host about this, and a couple other questions, and each time, she responded within an hour. Said she'd talk to the housekeepers about finding a non-toxic cleanser. A minor glitch in an otherwise perfect stay.

Celebrated my 34th birthday in Joshua Tree and got to stay in this awesome home. It did not disappoint. Starry nights and beautiful sunrises. Private and quiet. The hosts are extremely nice and responsive. Would definitely recommend if you want to get away for the weekend and rejuvenate.

House and location are both very nice

Amazing house! Wowza!! The open floorplan with floor to ceiling door walls that open and the view is panoramic and scenic! Hot Tub on a starry night!! We really loved our stay!! Highly recommended.

Pulled up to the mini compound opened the sliders and immediately decompressed from the drive. One of the most stunning views that lasted all night long!!! Perfect for a one or two night stay. Thanks to the owners

Where do I start? Communication between myself and the host has always been spot on. Then I arrive at this amazing property and feel like I’m in a phot shoot. The energy from the desert hills rejuvenates me like nothing else. The amazing starry night, unlike anything I could see in the city where I live, made me thank my Creator so appreciatively. The home has everything anyone could need. Just walking around in it was a delight, no need for off property recreation. We swam in the pool like otters, especially fun at night with the stars all around. The temperature here is perfect, unlike in actual Palm Springs where it’s over 100, it was a very comfortable high 80s so I was able to catch up on my tan without feeling like I was going to pass out. Back to the property, so convenient to have your car covered and protected from the desert sun. Temperature control, appliances, etc., all easy and self explanatory. One thing I really love is that what you pay for is what you get here. None of this nonsense like “strip your own bed, take your own trash out” etc, it’s all done for you with the cleaning fee you pay. I am sad to leave, and plan to come back!

Nice views and a nice modern property. Everything was fine except the coffee pot tripped the GFI plugs. Communication and response from the owner was not what is expected.

The property was well stocked and clean with an AMAZING view of the valley. Check out process left some questions but management was wonderful and prompt with any questions or concerns!

Great Location and wonderful house. The interior and the property are very stylish, clean and of a high standard. The communication with the host was friendly, fast and always solved any issue. The only room for improvement is the charge to heat the pool of 300 USD per day. That should be included in the rate…

Home is amazing. Gorgeous. Listing made it seem it was quite private and secluded, which it is not. Views are obstructed by lots of houses and cars and telephone poles, in various condition, some a bit unsightly. Neighbors dogs would be in the yard with us. I was also disappointed with lack of kitchen amenities. For cooking in, to not have simple things like a baking sheet or a roasting pan, or broiler pan (considering there is no BBQ on site)...or wooden spoons, etc. made it a little tough to prepare meals we had planned. The only other thing I would say -- is the $360 fee per day to heat the pool and hot tub. It's significantly more than any home I have ever rented -- and considering they have a sophisticated solar power system in place -- it seemed a bit excessive of a charge.

We enjoyed our stay at your property. The location is perfect if you want some peace and quiet. The views are amazing. The house is clean and has all the amenities. The biggest downer was how expensive it is to heat the pool so we only paid to heat the spa. Overall, we have a great stay. Thanks

My husband and I had a great time staying at this property. There were two bedrooms with big windows that provided views of the desert. It was very relaxing and felt secluded. It was nice for a quiet get-away with my husband and our dog.

Nice place for a few days at JT. Great for 2 couples, well equipped. Pool and spa heating cost were way to high. Several lights were either burnt out or constantly flickering. Only one dish towel provided. Beds were a little to hard for our liking. Overall we enjoyed our experience but it could have been better for the price we paid.

We stayed for four nights, spending our days in the park but we chose to stay in every evening to enjoy soaking in the spa and making dinners in the very well-equipped kitchen. This modern home has dramatic views from every window. We felt fully immersed in the desert and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

The property was exactly as described in the listing. Easy check in and spectacular views. Would recommend this place for anyone looking for a dessert getaway!
