Not sure I’d stay here again. The really awesome thing is proximity to the beach. The place needs some work and renovation: bathroom in the room has rusty and unleveled tub, AC is hit or miss in the room, hot sauna was broken, and hot tub needed cleaning. And an elevator wasn’t working. Room wasn’t ready upon arrival and it’d be hours until ready. Kids had a blast in the pool and beach but we might go elsewhere next time.

Check-in. Check-out went smoothly. Restaurant has good food but slow service - seems understaffed. Can’t beat the beach access!

Great stay

Staff were really nice. Such a clean hotel and a lot of stuff to do around the area.

Shower did not keep water inside the shower area. 17 dollars for a cup of wine is absurd.

Drains were clogged, bathroom door didn’t close. Dead frog was in hallway the entire weekend.

Very clean and comfortable.

Overall, we had a nice time. The staff is excellent, very friendly & helpful. We enjoyed the room service, especially with breakfast. The rooms are in need of some serious updating (which I read they were planning on doing). We could not even close the bathroom door. Also, the pool and area around pool in general needs update/repairs. We would definitely revisit after reno done.

Close to everuthing

This was the second time my family and I have stayed at this hotel and it was our last. We were awaken to a fire alarm going off around 11:30pm, after going down 7 flights of stairs with other families to find the doors to the lobby were shut and locked and we were forced to go out of a side exit to find other families standing outside unsure if there was a true emergency or false alarm with no staff members in sight. A few moments later a gentleman employed by the hotel came out joking and laughing about how we were all awake now and that someone must have pushed a fire exit and they had to wait for the fire department to come and disable the alarm. My family nor did the families with small children who were scared found this to be funny or amusing in fact it was eye opening to the fact that this hotel is not a safe place for your family to stay because there were no employees around to ease anyone’s fear and had there truly been an emergency it was clear they had no idea how to evacuate this property and ensure their guests safety. This same fire alarm went off 3 additional times after this incident so there was no chance of a restful nights sleep and no mention of the facility doing anything to compensate those who were inconvenienced by this after paying almost $400 a night for their stays. There were towels laying all over the hotel to soak up water leaking inside the building from the rain. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere on the beach

Great housekeeping service, pool was clean, live music by the pool in the afternoon, rich history with the hotel, good food in walking distance. My wife grew up coming to Wrightsville with her family. That was almost 50 years ago. Places like the Blockade Runner, Trolley Stop and Neptune’s helped me learn more about Wrightsville’s history.

Perfect beach hotel for the price. Dining options are okay and it’s a short walk to a few popular tourist places. It’s overall great stay for beach trip

This property has been in business since the 1960s, and while it's been somewhat updated, the rooms could be improved. The decor is worn out and dated. The mattresses are not comfortable. The hallways are noisy and echo loudly, disturbing those who are trying to rest. My bathroom was small, and the shower didn't work properly. While I only had two nights in the hotel, it was enough to make me happy I was changing locations. However, you cannot beat the location, as every room has a waterfront view. The staff is amazing and very helpful. Beach towels are available by request at the front desk or by the pool. It's not a bad choice for the money, but they should look into updating the rooms and doing something about the noise level in the hallways.

The bathroom is terrible! Bad nasty caulking, walls crumbling tub looks like it was painted but paint is half peeled off

We had excellent service and everyone was extremely nice. The TV in our room 639 was not working correctly but we really didn't care because we can watch TV at home. Would highly recommend Blockade Runner. lots of good food within walking distance and the ground were beautiful.

The room smelled like garbage, the air conditioning was awful. The bathroom was moldy and the toilet was constantly broken. The window wells were covered spiders and webs. I was utterly disgusted!! The new owners need to return it to the way it used to be. Money was thrown away.

Me and my really enjoy staying here. And look forward to coming back.

Very disappointed in the restaurant on site in the cleanliness of the halls room was fine. Staff was nice.

Ol the room was clean, however what disappointed me was it lacked a microwave oven and the coffee maker (erig small unit) didn't heat very well. Tre was a lack of avalable coffee creamer and everything you might need had to be requested such as ice (ice machines on floors). The resturant downstairs was astronomical with meal prices so I did not get anything there. I went out and bought a small microwave at Lowes.

The room was nice. The only thing we asked housekeeping for was new towels, but they were never delivered. Luckily they left the towel closet door open on our floor so was able to get some. The only other thing I did not like was that room service trays and dirty towels were left in the hallways for an extended period of time. Other than that, the room was comfortable and the facilities were nice. The beach is nice as well. I wouldn't mind staying here again, but I might try somewhere else first.

Old hotel but great service.

The rooms were very outdated. It was “clean” for the most part. The bathtub in our room had rust and the fixtures were old. Definitely needs a renovation soon. Private beach access was nice. The hot tub and pool area were okay- a little cramped when it was busy.

Staff overall is very friendly. Restaurant food was good: pesto pasta was bland, sausage and biscuits were ok, brunch burger was very good, service for Sunday brunch was very slow and understaffed, calamari fries were great. Loved the live music. Room was nice but AC was very loud and a lot of humidity in the room. Had to turn the AC to 65 to keep the room cool. Beautiful view of the Sound and sunset. Lobby is very cute and quaint. Walkable to restaurants and shops. Very laid back. I would return because the location and staff are very nice.

The property is beautiful. The location is unbeatable. Overall our stay was great.
