Cool cabins emersed in the rainforest

The Lodge exceeded our expectation. The individual lodges were very well appointed and tucked away in the forest. When we arrived the staff were very helpful, as they were throughout our four day stay. The meals were varied and imaginative ... well done chef! Diwan is centrally located in the Daintree so the Lodge is a good spot from which to explore. We loved it.

We loved the Daintree Wilderness Lodge's location and charm. Each cabin is surrounded by beautiful fan palms making you feel encapsulated by rainforest. Highly recommend for a true Daintrew experience!

Very much in the ‘Daintree feeling’ and close to nature. Very basic accommodation which is not a problem at all, just not for the price paid.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We really felt a part of the Daintree by staying in our little cabin amongsth the rainforest and being able to watch the cassowaries walk past our door was very special. We will be back.

The location surrounded by rainforest is excellent with lots of birds around. Staff were pleasant. I stayed here years ago when it had been recently built and it was gorgeous. However it's a bit run down now. The airconditioner was on a 2 hour time limit but there was no point even turning it on as it barely worked and the little bit of air coming out was warm. We tried to open some windows instead and a couple nearly fell out of their frames so we couldn't open and close regularly. The room was so hot (even overnight when ambient temperature cooled down a bit and even with the fan going all night on the highest (noisy) speed) that it was really uncomfortable. Also the advertised free WiFi was not available. We were told this was because "the phone lines are down" but we asked other businesses in the area and they said that wasn't the case. We asked for help with the aircon on the first night but the staff member on duty didn't know how to use it. We also mentioned these problems to the manager when we were leaving and she said she thought the windows had been fixed and didn't seem to understand the problem with the airconditioning. It was still a nice place to stay but does need some maintenance.

Amazing location in the trees. Beautiful cabin and main building. Warm, helpful, and friendly hosts. A perfect quiet retreat, close to rainforest activities.

Totally enjoyed our 2 night stay in the Daintree Wilderness Lodge .. You really feel like part of the forest as you experience the sights, sounds from the comfort of your cabin. Watching bandicoots forest, hearing birds, bats and insects living the forest life. Great service, friendly knowledgeable hosts and superb location made the lodge a highlight of our northern adventure .. thanks so much!

Beautiful rainforest retreat. The log cabins are all surrounded by rainforest you hardly know that you are there with other people until you go for breakfast! Would highly recommend staying here. Margaret was a fantastic anc caring host. We will be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, food was excellent, cabin beautiful a unique and memorable experience

Our host Margaret was so helpful and knowledgeable! She pointed out all the great spots to explore along Cape Tribulation Road! Also took care of booking our Great Barrier Reef tour with Ocean Safari (which was AWESOME) which costs us less than booking ourselves online. Great food too!!!

It’s all over room air conditioning did not work well

Great property located in the middle of the Daintree. Rustic cabins set into the forest held you close to nature. Breakfast and dinner were excellent! Worth the trip just for the dinner! Some of the best food on our 12 day trip across Australia. The owners and family provided excellent suggestions for excursions in the rainforest.

BEAUTIFUL property set in the rainforest. The manager, Margaret and Daisy could not have been friendlier. They were full of local knowledge and very helpful. The breakfast and dinners are phenomenal. Outstanding chef. We stayed 3 nights and ate there all 3 nights. I would highly recommend staying here. It was a highlight of our trip.

Wow! We loved this place. What a unique experience. Almost like staying in your own treehouse in the middle of the rain forest. Jennifer and David were outstanding hosts and extremely helpful in finding and reserving amazing activities to do in the area. The hotel is VERY clean and the food was excellent. It sits back from the main road, so you are very much in the rainforest getting the full experience. As an added bonus, we woke up one morning to see a rare / endangered Southern Cassowary right next to the cabin.

Loved our little bungalow. The only problem was the hot/cold water in the shower, but since we were in the middle of the rainforest, it was understandable. Jennifer and Dave were wonderful and the meals were very good. We would definitely stay there if we went there again and recommend them to others.

Jen and Dave are wonderful hosts!!! They made it feel more like we were staying with friends than with staff!!! Very comfortable and definitely give them 5 stars all around!! If your heading to Daintree, stay here!!!

And David is an amazing chef!!! the food for both dinner and lunch were so good, we were not excepting to get that quality in the middle of the rainforest.Def worth checking out!

Beautiful setting surrounded by rainforest. Great food, friendly service. No problem only having internet in the dining area, but would have liked some comfy seats for checking emails. Or hammocks would be heavenly...

It was great. Be aware that everything in the area closes early, but as long as you plan you can have a great time up in nature. Wonderful management, they help guide you towards some great outdoor activities. Great food at the restaurant at the hotel too!

Jennifer and David were wonderful hosts. Lodge is updated and quiet. Gorgeous. My favorite place in Australia.

We loved the rooms with skylights to give you a view of the canopy, the privacy, quiet and darkness at night. We had two marvelous breakfasts and dinners with great food and service. Jennifer booked us a reef tour which we enjoyed very much, introduced us to the local cassowary chick and was friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We found this lodge very welcoming, seems to be run by a husband and wife team. You need to remember it is an eco friendly lodge in an isolated rainforest area, not on mains power and phone internet reception is poor but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. You are in a cabin in the rainforest; we had lovely rain on our roof to fall asleep to. The food was also very good (organic etc as well) and better than most other options in the local area. Jennifer highlighted local attractions on a map for us and was very accommodating and helpful. Lovely people doing a great job in the bush.

We decided that since we have just moved back to Sunny Cairns that we wanted to have a night away to enjoy what we have at out back door. We were lucky that that weekend we had the whole resort to ourselves it was great, the place is so quiet and you are right smack in the middle of the rainforest. To get to and from your rooms you walk along a wooden walk way - this is elevated off the ground, while walking on the walkway you are guaranteed to see the resident cassowary's walking along the ground below you, that in itself is an experience. There are 7 Lodge Cottages and they are all spread out across the resort so privacy is what you get, I do recommend to ask for cottages in the high numbers 4,5,6,7 as the first two cottages are set at the front of the property. The rooms a lovely, spacious and very cool. The ceiling has a clear panel that runs across the length of the room, its great to look up from you bed and see the rainforest above you. The shower was impressive too as it was tall and had great pressure and was hot. Breakfast was great, everything made fresh to order. Overall we enjoyed our stay and defiantly will be back. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
