This hotel is beautiful, in the middle of the Umbrian countryside. The facilities are great - rooms and grounds and the whole place is kept so clean. The bar is excellent, the food fantastic but most of all, the service is fabulous! The staff are so friendly and eager to please - will do anything for you. Thank you for such a most enjoyable stay!

This was an on the go pick that turned into the most spectacular gem. The property is simply incredible and located in an majestic location. It is in pristine condition and the staff are sensational. A must if you are in the area or looking for a few days of escape.

The weather as absolutely beautiful. Not hot as it can be. Staff at restaurant and the front desk were very courteous, and professional. Food was excellent and reasonably priced.

I'll start by saying that the exterior of this property is splendid and everything we hoped for. The interior was a different story. I don't feel like it was a 5 star property with regards to the room decor and restaurant decor (although we really enjoyed the food at the restaurant). Our room had strange furniture that was modern and not high end. Then there was a hideous brown rug under our bed that looked super cheap. It was clean though, for what that's worth. It's not really near anything, so prepare yourself for that. The staff was overall good. We ordered a second bottle of wine in the evening and they didn't have it but came back with a bottle of a similar price point that they said they recommended as being very similar. It was an awful waste of 60 euro ha- we couldn't even finish it. So I'm not sure I'd trust their wine recommendations!

Front desk staff is excellent, but the rest of the staff in the restaurants is not professional enough for 5 star facility and the price it's charging. Breakfast is not stocked up enough for the quality demanded by 5 star rating.

Wonderful staff, beautiful accommodations. Hotel needs more food variety and more dinning space by pool. Instead of catering to tours more focus on guests!

Its a question of personal taste. For us it is too much like Disney and not enough Relais et Chateau.W They presented their idea of what clients appreciate, rather than being serious about any qualified feed back from less than totally satisfied guests.

Arrived to a welcoming drink whilst luggage taken to the room. Magnificent garden setting and a marvelous infinity pool with excellent sun lounges and attendant on duty. Pool not open till 1000hrs. Room spotless and large with a very roomy bathroom. Great attention to detail and service generally excellent.

We stayed at BdC for 4 nights in April 15. It was very obviously out of season and very quiet, but the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable ( new, clean sheets every day ! ) and the facilities were good. Breakfast choices were limited, but you could pay for additional choices and the dinner menu was the same all week - I would have liked to have seen a different choice, or at least a new special each day. Spa facilities were nice, but the steam room was out of order and the outdoor pool was closed. It wasn't really warm enough for the pool anyway so that didn't matter too much. The "garden room" spa was lovely. The bar prices were extremely reasonable for a hotel ( 20 Euro for a bottle of really nice Prosecco ) and the Maitre'd ( Marcus ) was happy to recommend other places to eat in the surrounding areas without any kind of pressure or guilt about not eating at the hotel. Overall, a very nice break in a lovely location with smashing staff - definitely recommended.

Alternate title: "Near a lot, close to nothing". Spent 4 nights as base to explore Umbria. Very high quality refurbishment of estate building, not a very old one. Lovely grounds, rooms and public spaces. We found Umbria to be a more rustic/relaxed place than Tuscany, with simpler more soulful cuisine. Unfortunately, the management seems to want to minimize the Umbrian in this hotel. Food service from bland breakfast buffet to fine dining room was not particularly of place...kind of safe international versions of italian food; nothing we tried would we seek out again. This was particularly distressing since the closest town of any size is Perugia, which has great, authentic dining but is 45 minutes away. So, if you want to chillax (my daughter's word) at the hotel, you get stuck with boring and not inexpensive food. Lots of other issues to address, like: a weak wine list; no weights (benches but no free weights nor machine substitutes), no towels, nor water in the nice spa/workout room; an odiferous lifeguard with a perpetual grimace at the pool; little to no service at poolside bar; lengthly check in and out due to faulty systems... Our significant experience with other Relais & Chateaux members led us to not expect these shortcomings. All being said, this is a stylish retreat, that is beautifully decorated and landscaped.

First class Hotel, beautifully renovated, superb views of Umbria's countryside and amazing property. Excellent staff, good restaurant. All together a real gem.
