Needed a place to stay for the night this was perfect. Free parking, warm welcome, food on offer, comfy bed, everything excellent, couldn't fault it.

Beautiful and cosy, with lots of character! Very comfy bed, very clean and modern facilities.
3.6
Warm welcome and friendly staff. Room just what we needed
3.6
Old but interesting building decently looked after. Excellent breakfast and comfortable room made for an enjoyable stay right in the middle of a traditional Englsh market town.
3.6
Comfortable but dated hotel

Know it’s Grade II listed but in need of an update. Carpets on stairs and hallways are dirty, threadbare and smells of damp. Room 6 had the windows painted shut resulting in the room feeling like a sweat-box

Hotel is pretty old wonky floors ect no problem I like this it’s character . lady who sign us in very nice. The hotel it self is run down not because it’s old really could do with some loving. Like a new bathroom. The toilet has been broken and Glue back together. And the single bed was very uncomfortable. I thought I was having a room with a double and two singles this was not the case. The room is a good size with kettle ect. No hair dryer. It was ok for a night stay. Simple little things like when leaving the next day the reception was closed I didn’t see where to leave the room key there is a bowl by the door you would think it have a post box near reception or be told where to leave the key.

Comfortable stay, glad for parking.
Shower was creaky, but did the job.

Let’s start with the bed! Worse nights sleep I’ve ever had. Four poster was not only uncomfortable it felt like it was about to fall apart, ever time you moved it made a noise & moved. Bathroom wasn’t very clean with a broken window ( though they did offer us a different room when we notified them but at this point it was just the window in the bathroom ) once we got back to the room in the evening we couldn’t open any windows & the shower wouldn’t turn off we couldn’t raise this with anyone as there wasn’t any staff on at all.
3.6
The hotel was completely empty as were the only guests unfortunately staff was rude and didn't care our room was dirty pillows was horrible to sleep with and my partner and I have a stiff neck now there were cobwebs in the room

Excellent location and a beautiful historic building, just a little black mould in the shower in the bathroom that was a little off putting but otherwise fantastic.
3.6
The hotel was cold and unfriendly. We are both elderly and had a room in the top of the hotel up very steep stairs when we were clearly the only guests in the hotel. The fact that there was no evening meal was not indicated when we booked on line. We finished up having sandwiches from Tescos.
The room was very cold and not warm and welcoming.

Easy check in
Bathroom tired
4 poster lovely but creaky
Room clean and tidy

Stayed for business. Arrived just after 3pm and the room was freezing. I asked for the heating to be turned on but was told it doesnt come on till after 5. Thought breakfast was included but in fact they no longer do hot breakfast. I was offered a continental for an extra £13 which I declined. In the room is the old menu which included hot breakfast for £12.50! No evening meals as they no longer have a chef so I went out to eat. The bed was uncomfortable, wallpaper peeling off the wall in the hallway. Stair carpet threadbare.
No hairdryer. Generally poor care to customer service. Very disappointed it could be a nice hotel but I will not be staying again.

Old, but clean and tidy .everything you need in the room except a hair dryer .

The lady on reception was very warm, welcoming and extremely friendly. The onsite parking was easily accessible and perfect with plenty of spaces. Room came with a nice amount of tea and coffee supplies and towels. Backing up other reviews, the hotel is old and very outdated. Our room had cobwebs in it and half of one of the windows was missing for some reason. There was also an annoying buzzing sound from outside of the window from either a generator or fan or something which kept me up during the middle of the night for a few hours. We paid £50 so you get what you pay for. Nothing extravagant but serves its purpose.

Lovely old building. Floors are unsteady but what do you expect for a house that’s over 250 years old!! Beds very comfy and rooms lovely temperature. Staff very helpful and kind
3.6
Thread bare carpets, communal stairs filthy.
2 Pubic hairs found in the bed. No mattress or pillow protectors. Hairs and bum fluff on the back of the toilet seat.
Black around the seal I'm the shower.
Generally very dusty and run down.
Very cold at night.
When asked for £12.50 is the breakfast was good? I was met with... "well... Its a breakfast!" Glad I gave it a miss... Dread to think what the cleanliness of the kitchen would be. £68 for that room was not good at all.
Only positive was there was tea and coffee making facilities with custard creams.

A lovely visit for a family event, staff were friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast was very good. Enjoyed our stay

A comfortable clean room. Creaky floorboards due to the age of the house bit this made it feel very authentic.Friendly owner. There was no breakfast on Mondays but that was no problem as we were going to see our son in Oakamore

What a wonderful 250 year old building with great character. Rooms & bathrooms need refurbishment. The staff are friendly and in particular, Mary, whom could not have been more kind, caring and assistive. Thankyou again Mary.

We stayed for 2 nights. Once we arrived we were told there was no breakfast Monday but there would be Tuesday. This was disappointing as it says on the website that breakfast is available for an extra charge and nothing about not being available on a Monday. Instead we popped over to the local Wetherspoon and had a day out at Alton towers. The following morning at 8am we heard drilling and banging and inbetween this we could hear men singing and chatting to each other. As we woke up and sat up in bed there you could see the shadows of the workmen walking along the scaffolding which was outside our room. I thought oh well they cant see through these thick curtains and we are leaving in couple of hours. I then get up to go to the toilet which has very little cover. No curtains just a thin bit of cloth. See the photos. I couldn’t even use the toilet so I got the sheet from the bed and put it up at the window so I could. There was no way I could take a shower. I have complained to hotels.com and the hotel have said there was no workmen there and I guess my word against there’s. I will be taking this further. I don’t find this acceptable of having no privacy in a hotel bathroom

The arrival and the greeting were great, very friendly to begin with! The hotel itself is quaint. Its whats to be expected of a 1777 preserved building, i enjoyed the creaky floors and the rustic feel. I dont feel like it ever claims to be something its not. Bed is somewhat comfy minus the bed bugs to which my partner now resembles a polkodot bikini. Its value for money thats what im trying to say and is perfectly located for local culture.
The only annoying things are: the heat is immense so the only way to cool down is have the window open. At the risk of having the church bell next door waking you up every 15 minutes 24 hours a day, and the risk of a complaint from the neighbours/other residents who seem to spend a lot of time curtain twitching. But dont expect the staff to back you up on that, the attitude dates back to that of the hotel it would seem and you will be left feeling told off like a school child and belittled in the corridor to the point they tell you upon leaving they called the police on you but the police refused to attend someone doing something private, in the privacy of your own space.

The staff were wonderful 👍👍

The Bank House Hotel was a very comfortable, nice big bed, good breakfast cooked to order and friendly, professional staff. Loved this stay! Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Uttoxeter.

Staff nice the Hotel is just tired… Needs a complete makeover.
3.6
No mention on the spiral staircases.People with walking problems(like my wife)having to climb three sets of stairs as we where put on the top floor.Bed was extrely poor, the worst we have ever tried to sleep.
Would not recommend.
3.6
Room very 'tired' . Both windows had signs on telling us ot to open them as they were broken. However very nice and helpful member of staff did manage to get one open. Barhroom dirty. Bad smell from shower. Sorry but cant recommend.
3.6
Access to the rooms is via a series of staircases which makes it unsuitable for the elderly or those with a disability. The carpet in the room was stained. The decor in the bathroom displays poor finishing. An important element of my choice was the availability of free wifi, which this hotel offered as part of the package. When, late of the evening, I arrived in the room, the promised page was not available and a page with a similar name did not respond to the password. Nor did reception respond to a telephone call. Signage (or its absence) means you can easily get lost. That, too, (you can get lost) is how I felt I was treated when I contacted management about the wifi inadequacy.

Hotel was fine (tired but it is over 100 yrs old) staff were friendly. Only has a small car park and I didnt much fancy leaving my car outside in the public car park. I hit on a bad day as the chef was off so I could not get an evening meal nor a cooked a breakfast the following morning. Not a bad stay by any means, perfectly comfortable and pleasant.
3.6
As it states the hotel is 150 years old. I would honestly say it’s comfortable, clean and a bed for the night. It does have a bar but we did not go to but it’s an added advantage for some.
3.6
Was an OK property. Staff was friendly.

The hotel is just very tired now. It would have got lower ratings but for the staff and in particular the lady who greeted us for check-in and breakfast.
She was so lvely that she increased the overall stay satisfaction. We had a 4-poster bed which was VERY creaky with a poor mattress. It made for a bad night's sleep. The hotel needs some love and affection which may not nbe available during these difficult financial times.
3.6
The team were friendly and welcoming.
The room was a bit tired and dated but was expected due to the price we paid and the age of the building.
The hotel has lots of character and a cosy feeling. There's parking at the back and close to shops and restaurants.
Breakfast was a little pricey but was very good.
We would stay again as overall, it's good value for money.

Having booked this hotel weeks in advance so we could attend a friend's 60th birthday party, we received a phone call the afternoon before our stay to tell us they had overbooked. The lady was very apologetic and polite and told us she struggled to find us an alternative hotel in Uttoxeter. In the end we were offered a hotel in Sudbury around 15-20 minutes drive away. The cost of a taxi to and from the party was paid by the hotel as was breakfast. We had little option but to accept this alternative arrangement.

Lovely old, well preserved and used
3.6
This is a really charming property, and the staff are absolutely delightful. Breakfast could be booked daily, but lack of chef meant that other dining in the hotel was not possible, however, numerous options are available within a few minutes' walk.
3.6
The hotel is in a great central location. Easy to find. The rooms are very dated and rather quirky. Our room had half an inner glazed window missing and a bathroom door that had a mind of its own to lock. The bed was comfortable and the sheets/towels seemed good quality.
3.6
Clean, tidy but dated. Good service, easy to access, all in all a simply solution in your staying overnight in this location. The local bell tolling every hour can be rather annoying if your not a deep sleeper though.
Added breakfast which was nice, well presented and good quality, service was good.
3.6
The rooms are cold and they did not have any breakfast or evening meal service.
