Arrived in Brecon and the Ty Helyg was easy to find free parking oposite. It is also only a few minutes walk to the High Street where there are lovely little shops and eating places. The guest house is very pleasant, tasefully decorated with lovely white quilt covers and bed linen. Host Christine and Robin were very welcoming and helpful. Great breakfasts. I will certainly stay there again.

Christine, the host, was fantastic. Exceptionally helpful and kind. The accommodation was clean, of a high standard and comfortable. I would recommend Ty Helyg to anyone visiting Brecon or the area. Just a short walk from all the main attractions, pubs and shops it's central location provides a perfect base. Parking, though not on site, is close by.

Over the August bank holiday weekend, we stumbled across Christine & Johns delightful Guest House. In the run up to our trip we were graced with information from Christine herself on places to eat and what was on offer in the area. Highly recommend booking in advance for eating out, primarily due to the current times let alone the fact it was a bank holiday Weekend. The Guest House has adapted to Covid-19 in a highly professional manner yet maintained the charm and character that Christine and John have worked hard to build up. We knew in advance of the changes that had been made and the policies that had been put in place. We thought it may feel ‘clinical’ but this feeling melted away within minutes of arriving, it’s crystal clear this Guest House is a home away from home. We were greeted and checked in by Christine, with a beaming smile and friendly ‘Hello!’. We knew this weekend had been the right choice. We were guided through the changes in place and what we could expect and what was expected from us. Nothing that shouldn’t be a surprise or difficult for anyone to manage. We then placed our order for a cooked breakfast in the morning before heading out for an last minute evening meal and drink at The Wellington Hotel. The room itself exceeded expectations, a double room with a king size bed. While some decorative items had been removed and it was obvious cleaning was set at a very high standard our room felt warm, cosy and had a fresh feeling. The initia

Lovely guest house with fantastic hosts. Characterful older building more or less right in the centre and close to the canal basin. Very clean and comfortable rooms, good breakfast and attentive and helpful and knowledgable hosts who made us feel very much at home. Very much recommend this place.

I'm so glad I booked a room at Ty Helg. Very friendly and welcoming owners who went over and above to ensure our stay was a good one. The room was clean, fresh and tastefully decorated. The weather had turned cold but the room, although spacious, was warm and cosy. Good cooked breakfast. The guest house is in the middle of Brecon and close to various places to eat and things to do. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Lovely old building. Although on main road we did not find it noisy. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly making sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent

I stayed for 2 nights and overall enjoyed my stay. I have very mixed reviews as follows- GREAT- - John and Christine were lovely hosts! They were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of places to go as a solo traveller. Also very accommodating as I have a gluten intolerance. - Breakfast was delicious, all fresh and cooked very well. As a foodie and someone that enjoys fresh food I was impressed. - Perfect location, close to everywhere I had planned on visiting. - Nice touches in the room such as body wash, a fleece blanket to relax under and tea and coffee station. - Slept very well on the second night. DISLIKED- - High levels of traffic when I arrived which could be heard from my bedroom facing the road. This did seem to be calmer the following day and was quieter later in the evenings. As a very light sleeper and someone that went away to shut off I found being on a road very annoying. - Walls were very thin, drunk men in the room next to me the first night came in at 1am which I could here word for word, I could then hear their snoring when they slept and when I could finally doze off around 4am they were up again at 6am which woke me. - Bathroom had a very damp smell. The shower was boiling hot which couldn't be turned down as it would go freezing cold. With no extractor in the room and then after showing the bathroom had no heating it didn't have a nice smell in there with the walls painted over plaster. Ongoing damp issues will appear if this isn't resolved.

Very friendly and helpful hosts, nice touch with chilled water and range of drinks available at all times. Drying room very useful after a wet walk. Very good breakfast, tasty, with a range of options.

Excellent location for our weekend stay in Brecon. We stayed in a King Double room, which was very clean and a spacious comfortable room. Breakfast was local produce and very tasty. The lounge was very cosy and welcoming with a wood burning stove and honesty bar. The hosts were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. A really enjoyable relaxing stay.
