This house exceeded our expectations. It is actually better than the listing. We have had the opposite happen many times. This was the most well provisioned house we have ever stayed in. They had everything for the kitchen from aluminum foil to a rolling pin and whisk. The beach supplies were also abundant. We enjoyed the private beach and club access that is included with the property. This property is a gem and I highly recommend.

When you first walk up the stairs into the house, it is just wow! This is a lovely house with everything you need to have a great time on the Big Island. We enjoyed access to the private beach club and then being able to jump into the private pool. The view of the sunset on the lanai was not bad either. What really impressed us was the quick response from property management (before and during our stay). When we felt the AC was not working correctly, they sent someone out within 5 minutes! We definitely recommend staying here, but keep good care of the house cause we want to come back again :-). Mahalo, PIH!

The house had great amenities - everything from a kitchen with anything you would need to make meals, to gas grill, bikes, beach chairs, beach towels and the list goes on. The house was comfortable, clean, and had a great view from the deck. The family loved the pool and hot tub and the Beach Club was only a few miles away with a wonderful protected bay for swimming in the ocean. The property managers were very responsive to questions. A heads up about a few items: 1) The doors sometimes appear to be closed but aren't. You need to push them tightly shut to make sure the air conditioner doesn't shut off. 2) If you have adult children coming from a lot of directions, the property only has parking for a maximum of four cars. 3) If you want to rent a Golf Cart, I would highly recommend Resort Carts. Really a great house for a family vacation. There were not any negatives to this house.

My family of 9 fit comfortable in this home. Close to all amenities for groceries, dinner, and there are beaches galore close!! 30 min from Kona. We loved the kitchen where we prepared daily meals and a large table to enjoy them. My adult children shared a room with their significant others, my mother in law had her own room, my sister and her son shared a king and my husband and I had the Master. When we arrived there was a wasp nest and I called and within minutes someone was here taking care of it! They were amazing. We enjoyed the heated spa and pool and all the toys. The only complaint I would have is it needed a good deep cleaning as there was lots of sand under the area rugs and a film on the floors. (Sand is impossible) We needed the pull out bed and when it was pulled out it had sand inside. (Where isn’t sand)We changed the sheets and there were lots of extra blankets and sheets to accommodate. We used the cooler, chairs and umbrella at the beach. All in all was a fabulous and comfortable trip from this momma of 6.

Our stay at House of Joy was fantastic. The house met our needs, the pool was FANTASTIC (especially for little bugs just learning to swim), the kitchen is huge and allows for cooking with a large group, and the rental agency was so superb and easy with whom to communicate. We highly recommend.

Easy, super relaxing.

12 members of my family stayed for a week over Christmas. We loved the backyard heated pool and jacuzzi, especially because the community pools were really cold. Since we were such a large group, we ate all our meals at the house. We even cooked turkey with all the trimmings for Christmas, in the well equipped kitchen. We had a few issues at check in and the property managers responded quickly. The location is perfect. We went to Mauna Lani Beach to snorkel several times, boogie boarded at Hapuna Beach, did a hike near Puuhonua o Honaunau (City of Refuge), and hiked into Polulu Valley past Hawi. It was a perfect fit for our family and a great stay!

This is a beautiful place to stay. Large common spaces, and plenty of sleeping options kept our group of 10 happy. The kids loved having our own swimming pool, and the community pool was popular, too.

House of Joy was nothing short of amazing! It fit our large group of 12 perfectly. It never felt crowded and everyone always had their own space. The kids loved the heated pool and opened the mornings and closed out the days in it. We saw some of the most amazing sunsets from the back deck/balcony. The facilities in KaMilo were also wonderful. Had a couple pool days there and felt like we had the whole place to ourselves most of the time. And let’s talk about Mauna Lani! What an unexpected surprise! I had never heard of the resort before and when I booked House of Joy I had no idea that it was in the middle of such an epic spot. The private beach club is a must, lots of shops and restaurants, and a super convenient grocery store were right up the street from the house. Oh, and don’t miss the Queens Bath located in the fishing ponds ;-) We also rented a golf cart through Resort Carts. I highly recommend this! Such a fun way to get around every square inch of Mauna Lani. All in all it was the most wonderful family vacation and I speak on behalf of my entire party when I say that we highly recommend House of Joy in Mauna Lani for your next family vacation!!

Perfect house for our family of 10! We enjoyed the private pool and hot tub, private beach access and location on a golf course. Everyone was happy!

The home was all the pictures showed and beautiful the managing staff and neighbors made life stressful in the middle of our vacation. We rented golf carts, the management company said it was a good idea and a lot of people do. While at private club we saw cart parking was on the grass we really didn’t see why we couldn’t park our cart on the grass at home. Of course not on any plants or near any sprinklers.We received a call mid day from the management company about a number of complaints about the golf cart so we moved it. No problem. Later that night my brother parked his cart on our grass, we did not realize. We got knock at the door around 10pm and my niece answers the door to a gentleman who was extremely rude, she lets him know we will move it right away and his response was yea you better. My husband goes outside to move it and the gentleman continues to be confrontational and say we own these homes and you’re going to lose your deposit. Extremely rude and made all of us feel uncomfortable.Next morning I woke up to an email from the management company letting us know how disappointed they were and that we would be getting a fine. They also then included the below:Please also be aware there are a maximum of 10 people allowed to gather per the Mayor's Emergency COVID rules. If you violate these rules residents are likely to call the police and violations are a misdemeanor involving $5000 fines and/or 1 year in jail. While I was aware of this we had spoke many times with the management company as this was a large family trip and our home alone was occupied by 11 people. I had been told not an issue prior to traveling to the island. I called the home management company and was told how there had been at least 5 pictures sent in from neighbors and that we now are on their radar and should lay low. My stress level went through the roof- so now I have to worry about going to jail because some neighbors are mad we parked golf carts in grass? My husband being a police officer spoke to an officer there and was assured we were fine and would not be arrested with what we were doing.This was all so unfortunate. We fixed the problem. But were harassed by neighbors and being told we were on a radar made the last half of our trip uncomfortable when at the home.

We had a great stay at the House of Joy. The has was beautiful and clean and supplied with everything we needed for our stay. The owners answered any questions I had immediately. The beach club is a great beach with great snorkeling.

Beautiful, well appointed house. We had a great stay. Be sure to rent a golf cart - it was so convenient! We all agree we would stay again and again.

We have stayed in many VRBO homes and this one was just as shown on the website. Clean, well stocked and very prompt service on a couple of minor items that came up during our stay.

From the moment we arrived the home had a awesome Hawaiian vibe. The home was exactly as pictured with all the toys and amenities needed to make the trip a epic adventure. We shopped at Costco (in Kona) as soon as we landed and since we enjoy cooking the large open kitchen and BBQ on the Lani made it a snap to prep and cook great meals and the kitchen table fit all 8 of us with ease for family dinners. The access to the Beach Club was a huge reason I chose this home and it was beyond our wildest dreams with great snorkeling , sand, easy access, close to home, great people and a bar for the adults to sneak away to periodically lol. If your a golfer the two courses ( North and South) basically in your backyard are easily accessible as well and where a blast to play. Im not even a big golfer but having some boy days were great and the girls all got to go to the Fairmont Orchid next door for spa days so that made some fair trades.... They have a great bar on the beach to rendezvous! The event binder left in the home illustrates numerous adventures possible within the given area and we managed to take down 75% of them in the 7 days due to the actual location of this home. I would definitely recommend the Blue Hawaiian Heli tour and the Trade Winds snorkeling trip to Capt. Cooks monument. Being centrally located access is easy and there is soooooo much to do locally or just relax on the Lanai and watch the golfers swing and miss while having a cocktail , swim in the pool or sit in the hot tub. The home was set up with all the shampoos and soap you will need so need to buy ( we made that mistake but now they have extra) the washer and dryer are a great feature even though all you need is a couple of swim suits and a t shirt maybe :-) but rolling home with clean laundry makes the return a bonus. We are already collectively planning a return Family trip to this home next year for the " End of Summer" bash. Ive been all around the Islands my entire life since my Father worked for United and Big Island has been my favorite. Now it is confirmed and The House of Joy is our favorite location and place to stay! Book it and relax you will not be disappointed.

The area was pretty and nearby we had access to stores, food, restaurants, beaches. The best beach is close to the house. We used the beach accessories and bikes daily.

Our group of 9 "average people from MT" stayed and we were absolutely thrilled with the house! While still Very nice when you arrive on the outside, the house inside and in the back is beautiful and comfortable! The house had everything we needed (and a lot we didn't!). Plenty of towels and bedding. Brand new washer and dryer and every kind of kitchen utensil you can think of. We cooked meals every day and BBQ'd on the lanai (deck). LOVED the lanai! Honestly spent most of our hours while at the house either on the lanai or sleeping. The garage offered snorkel gear, a cooler, a cart, boogie boards, umbrellas, beach chairs and toys and very nice bicycles. We made use of ALL of it. The pass to the Beach Club (just 5 minute drive or a 15 minute bike ride) was terrific! Beautiful beach and good snorkeling there. Never had an issue with being too full to get in. I will recommend this place to anyone visiting the Big Island! Thank you for the wonderful home and helping us to make beautiful memories!

Terrific house! We travel a lot, always using either VRBO or AirBNB, but this was by far the best stocked house we've ever stayed in. Everything, including bicycles, boogie boards, beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, cooler, etc. were available. The house was spotless and a in a great location! The pool is wonderful and the service is impeccable Highly Recommend!

We have been renting homes for years for vacation purposes and this home was by far the best one. The House of Joy was stocked so well with all that you would ever need. I can't say enough about the cleanliness of this home. I was comfortable from the minute I walked in. The details matter and this home was stocked with quality, from the dishes to the linens nothing is left out. I have never stayed at a rental home that thought of everything from cooking to playing on the beach. All our needs were met. This is our first trip to the Big Island and we will be back. We loved every minute! The area this home is located in is a terrific resort area with access to a private beach area that we loved. We snorkeled often thanks to the equipment provided in the garage. I have already told many friends and family members about our stay. I would recommend this home to anyone. We highly recommend this beautiful location and view. As soon as we entered we noticed the nice touches this location provided, Book of Hawaii (very detailed), multiple clean beach towels, a bag of Kona coffee, the VIEW, and being so clean and well maintained! Kitchen had all the items you needed. The location was close enough to walk to the Fairmont for breakfast and dinner (very good). The beach chairs and snorkeling equipment at the house were perfect for Wailea Beach and Hapuna Beach. Pololu lookout was worth the climb down/up as was Akala Falls. We look forward to coming back again to the House of Joy! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
