Virginia Dare is perfect for two families, and stragglers, location is ideal, and house has everything we needed. Great ocean views for not being ocean front!

We enjoyed our stay here. Little things that could have made it better, but overall, very cozy! Location was perfect. Hop & a skip from the ocean, and the grocery store & other businesses all within walking distance or a very short drive!

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at Virginia Dare on our first trip to the Outer Banks! Avon was perfect and the house was a great location right across from beach access with a road to ride our bikes right out in front. Enjoyed the upstairs living room/kitchen area and decks galore with an ocean view! Swimming pool and hot tub were both great and quick access to restaurants, grocery store, shops, everything we could have wanted!

Great view! Fun at the hot tub! Two refrigerators, so that was a huge bonus for our big family!! Highly recommend!!

First off the location is best part of this house. Beautiful views, great neighborhood and right next to the beach access. The house is fully stocked with kitchen supplies and appliances which made meal prep easy. A few big disappointments are the beds are very cheap and you can feel springs/ coils and very loud when moving. The only couch in the house has a sheet of plywood installed directly under the cushions. This makes for a very uncomfortable and hard seat. This limits comfortable seating to the kitchen chairs or bar seating. The first floor is so badly rotting out that there are plywood planks screwed down to cover holes. There are numerous soft spots in the floor that flex very badly. Overall, this is a great location but the house needs work and the furniture needs updating.

Great location and amenities. We loved being right across from the beach access. But the house itself could have been cleaner. Also disappointed in level of upkeep. Above ground pool has old decking. Splintered in places. So much so that one of the children injured her foot. Flooring on lower level has soft spots. Screens on sliders off one of the rooms has holes in it. I expected better for the amount of money we paid.

Excellent house and location. Everything was very clean. Curtain rod pulled out of the wall when I pushed the curtains open but not a big deal. Pool and hot tub were excellent. Would recommend and come back!

Everything was great except very cold water in the pool. Location was fantastic. Property was well maintained. Family had a great time.

Easy and great commt

A couple friends and I went down to Avon, NC for a week in early October. The house is in a perfect location, one row away from the beach, decent view, and 5 minutes from the grocery store. Beach access is right across the street! The house itself is definitely dated. The furniture has seen pretty extensive wear and tear with stains on seat cushions, uncomfortable saggy couch, a grill with a broken igniter switch, light switches coming off the brick, and a very very finicky dishwasher that required several tries to use and two notes on the refrigerator to explain how to get it to work (please replace!). Conversely, the house DID have a bunch of kitchen gear - blender, new toaster, slow cooker, serving dishes. The hot tub was perfect and the pool's heater was broken, so we didn't get to use it as much as we would have liked. Last, I don't know if it was the time of year, but we had a major fly infestation. We bought a fly swatter and left it at the house - don't know what the deal was, but the management company wasn't too concerned and it was a pain to swat flies away from our food. Overall - the location makes the place.

We had such a great stay in Virginia Dare. Three families, each with kids stayed and we all had plenty of space. Between all of the deck space, the pool, and the game room in the basement the kids had a great time and stayed entertained. The best part of this house is the easy access to the beach. The beach is just steps away. You can see and hear the relaxing sounds of the ocean from the deck. The house itself contained anything and everything you could think of that you might need. We cooked all of our meals there and had everything and more in the kitchen. We will definitely be back!

But, that being said, this was our second year there. The house has an unbelievable location. Right across from the beach. Because of this, you have a great pool to enjoy out back. The kitchen is fully stocked and we love the second refrigerator that we use for all the water, wine, beer. The layout is great and it's super safe for families with little kiddos. Now the downside. We noticed these things last year but thought perhaps they would have been updated/changed. The beds in the two suites are in need of replacing quite badly. The couch upstairs has also seen much better days. Lastly, we love love the pool area but there is zero shade. You are either in the pool or baking in the sun. It was hard to have our baby out there bc we had no shade to sit under. The chairs are a plenty however they are super uncomfortable. I believe they are are meant to have cushions. They are beautiful and we love there is plenty to accommodate our whole family but not comfortable. We love this house though. Unfortunately it isn't available when we need next year.

House worked perfectly for all of us. Couple of minor things were addressed by the office quickly, they were very responsive. The entry level bedroom includes two sets of bunks with a half bath on that floor, with the game room. Second floor has a room with two twins and a room with a queen that share a full bath. Third bedroom on that floor includes a king and on suite bath. All rooms on that floor have sliding glass doors onto covered deck facing ocean. Top floor has kitchen, living room, and king with on suite. Access to top deck that faces ocean or back towards sound side. Pretty sunsets from up there. Stairs from ground level provide access to each deck level, but there are gates to prohibit dogs or small children from going up and down stairs. Pool is above ground with full deck around it. Provide a great mid-day break for all, before going back down to the beach. Beach area in that particular area is not wide, so high tide comes in pretty close to the dune. But you can walk a few hundred yards in either direction to spread out a bit more. There is a direct walkway across from the drive to the beach or you can walk several hundred yards down in either direction for additional access. Overall great location with lots of amenities. We would definitely return to this house!

Previously, my family vacationed in Myrtle Beach and had a terrible experience with the house we rented through VRBO. I was nervous booking through VRBO again, but the Virginia Dare completely surpassed our expectations. I sincerely appreciated working with the owner to rent this house for a week. I spoke to the owner several times to ask about the house, amenities, pool, beach access, and the owner was very happy to answer all my questions. The photos accurately depict what you will rent, but almost do justice to the beauty of the property. This house is amazing! Not only did we have a completely clean house, with brand new linens on the beds, the house was stocked with full cabinets of glassware, utensils, Tupperware, pots, pans, etc. All the items in the house were completely clean and ready to for us to use. The concierge service had the Virginia Dare spotless when we arrived. We also used the concierge service to have the house completely stocked with food when we arrived, so we could avoid a trip to the grocery store when we arrived. The house is directly across from the beach ramp too, so we were able to enjoy the beach everyday. This house is also pet friendly, so we were able to bring our dog for the vacation. Our trip to OBX was amazing and when we travel here again, we will definitely book the Virginia Dare again!

This house was great!! It was big enough for our two families. The kids loved the game room and hung out in there quite a bit. The house was clean and well-equipped. The dog gaits were a huge plus and our dogs had a great time too. The walk to the beach was fast and easy. We had such a wonderful time that we have already booked our vacation for next year!! We can't wait! Thank you Sherry!!
