We had a fantastic visit. The house was wonderful. We wanted to have a fun house in case of bad weather and this was perfect. Luckily, we had great weather and were able to take advantage of the beautiful backyard and dock. The hosts were accommodating of our group and were very prompt in all of our communications. I would absolutely recommend this house and the hosts to anyone!

This is a wonderful home and property all around. It has everything you will need to enjoy your vacation...both inside and outside. The hosts are fabulous, easily accessible and communicative. The home is extremely well stocked and comfortably decorated. The outside space has many options to gather as well. A terrific spot!

Incredible open-communication with hosts that very clearly care deeply for their home. Family friendly home with ample hangout areas (especially the lower level with sectional couch, loads of dvds and a well stocked popcorn machine). The kitchen is well equipped (and labeled!). Our family enjoyed our stay and plan to stay there again next year if we can!

We had an incredibly memorable weekend at this impeccable home! The hosts/owners are lovely, and communication was a breeze. They were so helpful with everything we needed. And when I say this house has EVERYTHING- it truly does! There are so many thoughtful touches throughout the home. More than enough space for 4 adults and 3 teenage cousins. We had a blast in the lake (in March!) and made use of all of their fun amenities - kayaks, paddle boards, hot tub, popcorn machine, snow one maker….you name it. The house was incredibly clean, comfy beds, so many places - indoors and out - to lounge and hang out. Our only regret was not staying longer. We loved the SML area and plan to return- we will look no further than Ascension on the Lake! Thank you for sharing this amazing home with us!

This home is the perfect spot for family to enjoy SML. We have stayed at dozens of homes and this is by far the most well appointed. The main kitchen is full of spices, plates, glasses, pots and more. Our younger family members loved the snow cone and popcorn machines. Kids of all ages spent together time in the game room. Outside the home the kayaks and access to the lake is incredible. Will be back many times.

We enjoyed our stay. The home is outfitted perfectly for large groups. Owners are very attentive. Much appreciated!

First off - the pictures don't do it justice - the home is VERY spacious and was perfect for our group of 8 and could have easily handled more. The two master bedrooms (main and lower level) are enormous with plenty of space for pack-n-play/toddler bed if travelling with little ones. The little separate house with bunk beds is ideal for any travelers that want their own space. We had a minor issue with the linen service, but the host was lightning fast to resolve. They care deeply about your experience at the house and are very responsive. Locale was very pleasant, not a lot to do nearby, but its a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery - and if you drive 15-30 minutes, there are good restaurants and things to do around as well. The sound can carry quite a bit from the downstairs main entertainment area, so you may want to chose your bedrooms accordingly if you are early to bed. There are also a huge amount of places to move the gathering if the noise is too much for someone that is early to bed (firepit, firetable at the dock, firetable on the decks - multiple, hot tub, etc)

I highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a home to rent at Smith Mountain Lake! The home is beautiful inside and out, with plenty of room for my family group of 10 adults. We especially enjoyed the large dining room for family meals, the hot tub, outdoor deck, gas fire table, the bicycles and movie watching in the downstairs area. The gas fire place in upstairs master was perfect for cooler evenings. The hosts Tim & Michelle were easy to communicate with and responded promptly to our questions. They also provided useful information on area grocery stores and restaurants. I would definitely rent this home again.

Everyone had a blast, plenty of water toys, life vests; room for everyone!! Very comfortable beds and sheets and pillows- we were glad we used the linen services. Communicative caring owners. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay at Ascension on the Lake! Tim & Michelle are great hosts, communicate well, and have prepared the house with everything you need - from coffee to paddleboards and life vests. The setting is beautiful and private. We had a great family reunion. The listing/pictures are very accurate. The only heads up is that our sons and nephews are young adults (all over 6 feet tall) and the bunk beds are probably a better fit for younger ones. Thanks again for sharing your great lake house and being such great hosts!

From start to finish this has been one of the best trips we’ve had. Owners are top notch and wonderful to work with. The house is absolutely stunning with amazing views and so many amenities! Our small children had the best time playing games, watching movies, making popcorn, fishing and paddle boarding. We can’t say enough about how truly wonderful this place was. We can’t wait to do it all over again next year.

We were a family of ten consisting of children, parents and grandparents. The house was very roomy and wonderfully decorated. It had two floors and a loft and provided each of us our own space and also areas big enough for us to all gather at one time. The kitchens were equipped with anything we needed for our stay. The house had a beautiful view of the lake and was in a very quiet cove out of the main waterway traffic. We had rain for one entire day but there were enough board games, card games and table games to keep everyone entertained that day. There were many items to entertain us like bicycles, swimming toys, fishing items kayaks and paddle boards. The dock area had a covered area as well as an open area for sun bathing and plenty of room to dock our boat and wave runner. We had no problem getting fast answers when communicating with the owners about check in as well other questions that arose through the week. We would recommend this rental to anyone planning a visit to smith mountain lake. It made for a relaxing and wonderful vacation.

Beautiful lake and easy access to the lake

Where to start?? The hosts- Tim and Michelle were tremendous hosts ensuring that check in went smoothly and ensuring the house was perfect. The house had everything we needed and then a lot more. Starting at the water because this is a LAKE house, we really enjoyed being on a peaceful cove with a great view. Totally nice for families to enjoy swimming in the water without tons of waves. The dock was easy to tie my 17 foot boat up to. Plenty of chairs and recliners, life jackets, noodles and a new fridge in the dock house for the beverages! The property has a beach that is a nice option to have. As for the inside of the house it is really massive and affords opportunities for everyone to have their own space if needed. Downstairs fridge, sink, etc! The game room is great - had to beat my friend at Air Hockey. But lost at Table Shuffleboard. Kids would love too. We also loved the kitchen and dining by the glasses in porch. Loved the organized kitchen and labels for everything!! Plenty of great options for making coffee and courtesy Keurig cups for simplicity. The rooms were large and beds super comfy. A few nice desks for work…(keep it to a minimum). Plenty of outside seating. We loved the outside seating off the master bedroom for early morning breakfast/sunrise. Several nice bikes in the garage including a tandem. Don’t think twice. Click on this house and stay here. You will love the house and be taken care of by Tim and Michelle!!

Tim and Michelle were very communicative, available and accommodating. We were shockingly surprised by the amenities. We brought more than we needed thinking we might not have certain items. They had everything you could think of and more! Perfect set up for a great large family vacation. We would definitely consider this property for future family vacations.

We had a wonderful time at this property! It was well kept, stocked with everything you can think of in the kitchen and tons of fun activities to do with the family on a rainy day or sunny day! The neighborhood was wonderful, very peaceful!

Ascension on the Lake is a beautiful home. The pictures on the vrbo website do not do it justice. The extra touches like paper towels, TP, Keurig pods plus all the handy supplies are really appreciated. The house is very well equipped with games, puzzles and a great game room with air hockey, table shuffleboard and Ms. Pacman. They were very much appreciated since we had quite a bit of rain during our stay. We had a few glitches, but Tim and Michelle were readily available by text and phone to assist us. Their communication is outstanding. I highly recommend Ascension on the Lake when visiting Smith Mountain Lake.

Tim and Michelle were exceptional hosts! They were incredibly easy to get in touch with and answer any questions that arose. The house itself was magnificent and anything you could think of was at you fingertips. They have truly thought of everything. Excellent location for boating and swimming! We could not have asked for a better location for a family vacation (of all ages 7 through 67)!

The house is gorgeous and handled our group perfectly. The dock and amenities were perfect. Tim and Michelle were immediately responsive in answering questions and providing informative details to make our stay amazing. We will be back again next year!

Lake house and surrounding property was just amazing! House was extremly clean, stocked with more than just the essentials, labels/directions galore, and very well decorated. You can tell the owners have put a lot of thought into this place. Weather for the weekend was a bit undesirable but we did not care as the house had so much to offer. Plenty of spaces to relax and congregate, play games, chill in the hot tube, fires at night, dock life, and so much more! We had a group of 9 and there was still room for plenty more. Great place for multiple familys with areas for both adults and kids to enjoy. Best place we have stayed in for some time. Will deffinitly look to rent this places and others that the owners have to offer. Highly recomended!

This property offers a lot of great amenities for a family! There are multiple bedrooms with plenty of room to move around. Many different board games throughout the house as well as some non-board games. We loved the reconnecting with our family as it was just us for a short getaway without the hustle and bustle of work and sports. If you are looking for a great family vacation spot for kids and adults this is it! If you are looking for a romantic weekend get away with your spouse, the fireplaces and layout of this home provides that atmosphere as well. Either way you won’t be disappointed.

We stayed for a long weekend and found it so hard to leave this great house. Tim and Michelle are truly exceptional hosts. With attention to detail, this house is well stocked. They provided everything to make our stay enjoyable, and were great at communicating. Reading in bed with the gas fireplace on, waking up to a view of the lake, and that waterfall shower made the master suite a lovely retreat. There was plenty to do on a winter weekend between the air hockey and shuffleboard tables, all the board games, and multiple tv's with streaming options and DVDs. I was also very fond of the Marshall bluetooth speaker that filled the house with music (a quick download of the Marshall Woburn II app had my old Samsung phone connected in a minute). We enjoyed a cozy fire in the firepit, and can't wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the bikes and more...
