Our stay at Island Sunset on Lake Murray was fabulous. Debra and Dennis are wonderful hosts, giving us on property help, but also allowing privacy. We felt like we were at a 5 Star resort. The accommodations were clean and comfortable with all of the comfort's of home and more! We enjoyed the use of the pool, jacuzzi, pedal boat, BBQ and fire pit on the beach. Debra even kindly provided s’more making goodie’s!! We cannot wait to return.

Great location. Very comfortable. Plenty of activities on the lake. Definitely recommend! Hosts were wonderfull and very helpful. If you want to experience Lake Murray this is fantastic.

Beautiful retreat nestled on the banks of Lake Murray. The rooms are beautifully appointed….right down to the Peet’s coffee and Harney teas for our enjoyment. We awoke to a wall of windows looking out on the lake. The property is maticulously landscaped and maintained. The pool and hot tub were always available for our enjoyment. Debra is a wonderful hostess and exudes Southern charm. She was always concerned with our comfort. On our final night on Lake Murray, Debra brought us out for a sunset boat ride and gave us a wonderful tour of the lake. Our time on Lake Murray was priceless!!!

My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to stay, by some water preferably. When we saw this place on vrbo I wondered if the pictures were accurate because the bedroom looked so spacious. When we were shown our bedroom I was very pleased. It was huge, just like the picture showed it. The owners were very pleasant and very quickly responded to our texts about places to get ice cream, etc. Our host and hostess went above and beyond how they treated us. The room was immaculate and the pier and sitting areas were very inviting and kept very clean. It was a perfect 2-night stay. We had the peace and quiet we were looking for in an incredible place. I would have given more than 5 stars if it had been possible.

An unexpected pleasure. The view is most impressive. The hosts were very caring and took the time to explain and demonstrate how everything worked. A tour was conducted which showcased the nirvana of equipment and facilities available for our use. Packed into the property is a boat ramp, two docks, kayaks, paddle boats, boards, games, an 8' deep salt water pool, a jacuzzi, water trampoline on the lake, sandy beach, fire ring and the list goes on. Everything was offered for our use. The grounds are manicured and decorated with interesting pieces and water features. The room was well furnished and beautiful. We loved the sheets and towels. Coffee and tea were provided via Keurig and the snacks were appreciated. We liked the facility so much, we are considering bringing our grandchildren down to enjoy all the offerings. Highly recommend.

Debra is the perfect host. Very accommodating and goes above and beyond to make sure guests have everything they need and are comfortable. The property itself is beautiful - pristine landscaping and the rooms are immaculate. We loved having the private boat launch and dock for our boat so we had easy access to it all weekend, and it was safe on the property! The pool and hot tub area are perfect and we enjoyed sunsets from the pool each night which was amazing. We have stayed in both the Green Room and Blue Room and we loved both. We have stayed at several places around the lake, and this one is by far the best, and we plan to stay here every time we head to Lake Murray!

This was our second visit to paradise on Lake Murray since May (see previous review). Debra and Dennis are some of the kindest, thoughtful and caring people you will encounter, period. Their goal for this endeavor is truly to bring joy into peoples lives by sharing their property and their blessings. Mission accomplished!

The property is lovely and excellent on all accounts from the room, to the view, to the lake, to the recreation options, and to the hosts. Every guest detail has been considered. We could not have been more pleased with this stay and left feeling rested and renewed. It is definitely a VRBO gem, and we hope to return. The host and hostess are welcoming and have truly gone above to provide a great place to stay and enjoy Lake Murray. We highly recommend the boat tour provided/suggested; the birds coming in over the water at sunset was spectacular to witness. If I could give this property higher than 5 Stars, I would. This is VRBO at it's best.

We were more than pleased w/ our accommodations, from the spacious, clean and newly renovated room, to the spectacular grounds, beautiful lake and wonderful hosts. Clearly, Debra & Dennis have put a lot of thought and care into making certain guests feel welcome, comfortable and enjoy their stay. You will find everything you need, including a selection of coffees, creamer, snacks, chilled water, toiletries, a filled beach bag, fluffy towels, life jackets, a small sandy beach and water toys galore! We stayed in the Blue Room and were given a tour of the other beautifully appointed other guest suites and the adorable and private cottage with fully stocked kitchen and covered patio. Perfect for a family getaway. There is space to relax on the large, covered porch, a grill, yard toys, heated pool, hot tub and clean, swimmable lake where one can fish w/ available poles from the dock or paddle kayaks. We found nearby dinning at Pablos (giant margaritas) and Higher Ground (awesome burgers) and good food/lively atmosphere at Liberty Tap Room on the Lake. Downtown Charlotte is a half hour drive away. We will most definitely be returning! Many thanks to Debra and Dennis for making our stay so wonderful!

My wife and I just returned from a 3 night stay in the blue room at Island's Sunset. This is truly a magical place, assuming you enjoy gazing out over beautiful lake Murray from your room or anywhere else on the expansive property. We had access to a plethora of water toys (peddle and standard kayak's, canoe, flotation devices etc), a heated salt water pool, hot tub, shuffle board, horse shoes, basketball court, frisbee etc. I went swimming off the dock which has deep clear water in a relatively quiet cove. We went for a relaxing long walk - very private and safe neighborhood. They have a private boat ramp as well for you fisherman. They provided water and snacks, menu's and excellent recommendations for restaurant's in the area. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room spacious. We had a mini refrigerator and microwave in our room. It was a quick and easy 30 minute drive into Columbia from their place. Most importantly, the owner's could not be better people. They are just very welcoming, warm and genuine people of faith. We almost felt like family after a very short stay. It is very obvious that they have worked hard to make their home a top notch destination. I asked Debra why they are now renting rooms and her response was because they just wanted to be able to share their many blessings and this beautiful place with other's. That is the kind of people you will be renting from. We will definitely return to this little slice of heaven!
