On arrival as we entered there was a strong smell of damp. The curtain to the main door was soaking due to the damp room.Entering the kitchen the floors were so wet I slipped and hurt my back, they had been washed but there was a lot of surface water I had to go over with a towel (our own) to dry them all they were dangerous. Needing the toilet after the journey I went to the toilet and when I sat down realised the toilet seat was not attached at all and fell off hurting myself again. Also there was a wood lice infestation in the bathroom. We headed downstairs and we chose the largest bedroom to sleep in that night. It smelt so strong of damp, we opened the windows, thinking the smell would clear before we went to bed. We went to bed that first night and realised the carpet was wet through in places. We turned the lights out and tried to sleep, however the damp smell was so strong and I was actually wheezing as I am asthmatic. We ended up trying the other double room but the smell was still not good in there and there is visible damp on the walls in that room. We ended up on the top floor in separate beds. Not a good first night! We have slept up there for the other nights stay. The temperature had dropped and the heating was not working, we also thought having the heating on might air out the damp smell. Our clothes felt damp too on touch being stored in that room.
