Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and our room was clean but somewhat worn. However, when we returned to the hotel later, the air conditioning was so loud that it was impossible to have a phone conversation. Despite being promised immediate assistance, we waited 30 minutes before seeking help again. The second staff member was less friendly and simply turned off the “turbo” setting, which completely stopped the noise but left us with a very hot room. After a sleepless night, we reported our experience to the morning staff, who apologized but couldn’t offer a refund. We appreciated the apology and were given a refund for parking and a bottle of water. However, we were still charged the local tax, which felt inappropriate given our poor experience. Overall, the service and response to issues were lacking, leading to an uncomfortable stay.

Lovely old hotel with a great saltwater pool and nice poolside bar

I'm not sure if I should give 3 or 4 star. I encountered with two problems: 1- The TV was not working. The staff told me they've been having issued for few days now. 2- The AC was making extreme noise and again staff told me it's an old unit and they can't do anything about it!!! I end up buying earplugs for couple of night i was there.

Nice hotel, not far from shops, bars and restaurants and also close to the beach. Rooms are very clean and staff was very helpful.

Staff was exceptional! We forgot our passports in the room’s safe and the staff retrieved them saving our vacation.

Great pool area! The pool is big and very deep with salt water. Nice views from the pool area and a bar close to the pool. The hotel is close to everything. Breakfast was nice. The AC worked well.

Overall the stay was okay, A/C did not work great and the cleaners repeatedly entered our room even with Do not Disturb on the door. One of our bags was looked thru in one of the instances, but I don’t believe anything was taken.

Amazing hotel everything was perfect

This is very good value for the area. Location is perfect, central and walking distance to everything you need. The street is also very quiet. Rooms have been renovated but the layout of junior suite didn't meet my expectations. Also the junior suites with ocean view are on the 3rd floor right off the big terrace in the entrance, which blocks much of the view. I thought getting a superior suite would also come with the best view on a high floor. The building is quite dated in the lobby and exterior. Parking is good.

Our stay was outstanding, the pool was lovely (very deep!) and saltwater. The area was close by cafes and restaurants. Easy walk to the train, but be careful about following Google Maps, it took us the completely wrong direction, like to the back of the hotel at the top of many, many, many stairs. If you follow the coast from the train, there are signs that direct you to the front.

This property was really good except the bar and pool closing at 7..also the pool and other little things in the hotel needed some major TLC. This hotel was good but it could be an AMAZING hotel if they kept it up a little more.But overall it was nice and the balcony was AMAZING!

Our first time in PORTOFINO/Santa Margherita area. The hotel is pretty close to everything, 5-10 minutes easy walks. The best thing about the property is the beautiful view from the balcony. My room was not ready when we arrived, and they gave us an upgrade for the inconvenience. The breakfast buffet is superb with lots of selections and worth the money. The only issue (a non-issue for me) was the outdated bathroom on the 4th floor and that’s due to leaks around the small squared shaped sliding shower doors. I didn’t mind having an extra towel on the floor during showering time. If seeing very small black mold bothers you, then don’t come here. BUT the view OF THE SEA, convenient location, breakfast buffet, clean pool and friendly staff should make up for it in a big time.

The hot water was not working and it was extremely loud throughout the night which made it difficult to sleep peacefully

The hotel had changed ownership 6 mos before yet it was not noted on the site. It presents as a much lower than 4 star offering. No coffee/ tea maker in room. Machines in a communal location.breakfast room sterile- we went to a local patisserie. Parking facilities good. Large room w view

We really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast options were great, hotel staff were very helpful. The area was convenient, felt safe and was close to the seaside walkway, buses, ferry and train station.

Fantastic Hotel so close to all amenities . Lovely modern interior, Large Room,very clean and comfortable. Great facilities the pool and bar area are very chill and relaxed. Excellent staff super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a nice stay at this hotel. The staff is very nice and helpful. The view from the terrasse is wonderful.

Front Office Personell very friendly, very helpfull and personal. Hotel overall ok. Good pool and very good location of the hotel. Room ok, but cleaning was very bad. We had to ask of vacuum again after checking in, since it had not been done. It was hair in the floor. Cleaning staff vacuumed and problem solved.

Had been a bit concerned initially with choosing to stay here in light of the disappointing reviews it had but choose it because of the pool facilities as we wanted to be able to come back after a day out sightseeing and chill in a sea water pool . We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel the pool facilities are fantastic 👏👏👏Stefano was excellent and like the reception staff very attentive . The rooms were clean maybe they have seen better days but the beds were comfortable and we were given daily fresh towels so what more do you need . Book and enjoy all Santa marguerite has to offer . Would recommend the bar with a little roof top garden just down from the hotel gates on the left as somewhere to have a drink and fab nibbles before you walk to the promenade as well as the Reve restaurant a 3 min walk away . Fab food

I was so happy that I had the ocean view that I expected! It’s in a great location! It just would be nice to have directions to get there from the train. I ended up walking with my luggage farther than I expected.

Unless you come by car, you will be walking 3 blocks uphill to the first elevator that takes you to a small parking lot. Then you cross the parking lot to a second elevator that takes you up to the hotel front desk, which is a chaotic scene with staff arguing and shuffling a lot of papers. Management seems inexperienced and unsure of their own procedures. The decor is nicely updated but the bedding was uncomfortable. Pool and terrace were really nice and the breakfast was an excellent hot american breakfast with bacon and eggs. I would give the breakfast 5 stars!
