The suite was SUPER affordable on a weekend when hotel rates were outrageous because of a home football game and University of Delaware's Parents Weekend. The host was welcoming, providing a walk-through, and helping me adjust the door lock to my fingerprint for easy access. The area was quiet and safe. The mattress & linens were comfortable, and the towels were soft and cozy. The bath & bedroom were well-lit and the water pressure and temperature were fine. Windex, disinfectant, and paper towels were available. (You'll see below why that was important.) The host provided driveway parking so I did not have to park in the street. The residential location in a partly wooded area was also relaxing. The suite had a smoke detector and a mini fridge that kept my ice packs frozen. There were no smoke, pet, or other odors. I was thankful for the hangers in the closet. There was access to laundry and a cooking area, if needed. I suggest adding a reading lamp, so you don't have to get out of bed to turn out the lights at bedtime.

The bathroom floor had not been swept or mopped in days, if not weeks. There were a variety of hairs all over the bathroom floor and a shoe print on the edge of the shower. (I have pictures of both.) The underside of the toilet seat had not been cleaned, & the rug at the base of the toilet looked like a biohazard. The partial roll of toilet paper ran out the first night with no spare rolls on-hand. (I brought some in from my car.) The trash can was half full with a prior guest's food trash. The fridge was dirty inside. (I have photos.) The bathroom electrical outlets were not GFCI and did not work, but I used another outlet at the dresser and mirror. There was no pad between the mattress and the sheet, and the prickly mattress fibers poked through until I put a towel down. Wash cloths were not included in the linens, but several dish towels were with the bath towels. The tile shower floor was uneven, and water collected near the sink, becoming dangerously slippery. The entrance exterior had what looked like motion-activated light fixtures that did not come on at night, and the pavement was uneven, with a hose across the walkway in two places. The fixtures (toilet paper holder, towel bar) had not been properly anchored and were coming out of the drywall. Neither the listing nor the Booking.com confirmation provided the street address - just a Google map link, which took me to the wrong house. (When I called, the owner helped me sort that out before I knocked on the door of a New Castle County police officer's home.) And, whenever you stay in a basement unit, you have to expect ceiling noise. (It wasn't too late at night or too early in the morning.)
