Return stay at this beautiful hotel. Right across from the cathedral and Christmas market. A nice note and snacks were left in the room. The room is a little pricey but worth it.

Wonderful hotel. Spacious rooms with great attention to detail. Great bar, one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had. Service was fantastic.

This is a wonderful hotel right next to Cologne’s majestic Cathedral. The staff was very courteous and helpful. A gem of a hotel in a striking cosmopolitan city by the Rhine. The Bar is a must for a drink before or after dinner.

We loved our stay here: it’s in a superb location right by the cathedral and railway station. The staff are all so warm and friendly and offer superb service.

My kids loved the hot chocolate being delivered to the room each night. A very nice touch.

The hotel is very beautiful and the location is absolutely the best! You go out and see the Koln Cathedral. Staff very friendly, courteous and helpful. The only thing that bothered us was that the mattress was way too hard, and the pillows not fluffy at all… which made for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. Aside from that, wonderful

Service and quality of Excelsior is excellent, we really enjoyed our 2 short days these despite the bad weather and Hanse Stube was fully booked. Next time.

It is close to the train station and the busy Cathedral Cologne and there can be some sense of a lot of people - but once you step inside it's a fabulous retreat. Great service, we had a beautiful room. The breakfast is very expensive and just "okay" so go across the street to the Cafe Richard. Close to the "historical sections" and close to the water. Would stay here again for sure.

Smoking smell whenever using bathroom.
Noise due to the unit undergoing a construction on the hallway.
Shower drain does not drain properly, really really slow: while taking a shower, water stands up to ankle bone.

The hotel nickel and dimes you for every and anything. Not friendly to English speaking people.
There is a gorgeous goth cathedral across the street that is definitely worth the visit. Nothing else in walking distance. Shop owners are rude too.
