I liked the spacy rooms and the architecture of the hotel. I did not like that the breakfast did not offer gluten-free, dairy-free and simple things like plain oats.

The hotel has a 4 Star rating. I‘m not sure what helped them to get there. I was only able to interact with the staff at the reception. The service included an absolute bare minimum of friendliness. The rest of the staff of the hotel simply ignored us. Even a good morning wasnt reciprocated. The staff at the restaurant during the breakfast buffet also just ignored the guest. Every attempt to ask something was responded by a silent walking away. The room had a 15 year old TV, which didnt work. The breakfast buffet was also nowhere close to a 4 Star hotel. No jams or butter for the breads. No fruits. Only good thing there was the hot water for the tea. There also every second mug was dirty.

There is no heating, staff offered to downgrade my room but keep the same price of what i originally paid, told us to leave if we were not happy regarding their heating issue but not offered a refund. Its winter, when you book with a hotel you want to be comfortable but it was a bad experience and i had to leave the hotel and stay somewhere else. The staff were not helpful. Definitely would recommend to stay away from this hotel during the cold weather, there are not enough blankets that would keep you warm in that place! Expedia tried their best to help but the hotel refused to refund even after leaving the hotel once you check in!

I had a nice stay at Rixwell Elefant. Before arrival I had emailed the hotel inquiring about a specific room which I was happy to get. Any question I had they could help with. The bed was unfortunately a bit broken, so I didn't sleep that well. Room 204.

Someone opened our room door in the morning before 9 am. We think it was a cleaner, but we had not put the cleaning sign in the door, so we woke up to this, which wasn’t a nice surprise.

The hotel is located out of the city center but close to bus stops which make it easy to reach both citycenter and the Riga airport. Its breakfast was not the most fancy and it was just OK. Based on our stay experience at other 4-stars hotels, for a 4-stars hotel, a better breakfast with more variety was expected. Receptionists were not friendly while personals in the restaurant as well as cleaning staff were nice and friendly. Hotel has two wings and they are located almost like V-shape model. This cause rooms has a close view to each other and if your privacy matter, you should use black-out curtains, even during the day.
