Great place to stay in Takayama. It is around 15 minutes’ walk from most points of interest: Takayama Station, the Miyagawa Morning Market, and the shopping street. (There were other hotels closer to the station, but 15 min walk is fine for me.) There’s a 7-eleven 2 minutes away. The staff are friendly and helpful. The lounge and kitchen/dining space on the main floor is spacious and was usually empty when I was there. I booked a single room and it was really spacious too. There were lots of power outlets in the room which was really nice. FYI, the pillow is pretty flat (common in Japan?) but I’m sure you could request another pillow. The rooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, and shared areas were clean. Maybe it was just my schedule, but there was no wait for the shower. I’d definitely consider staying here again if I was in Takayama.

The place was spotless and the rooms were of ample size and nicely decorated. There's a 7 Eleven just across the street and it is walking distance to the Old town. Definitely recommended for a stay in Takayama!

We missed the daily housekeeping, especially towels. There sometimes were occasions where you can smell somebody smoking.

Good: When we arrived at the Guest House Ouka in Takayama we were disappointed to hear that the family room we booked had a shared bathroom with 5 other rooms. After a few minutes discussion we managed to upgrade to a larger room with 4 single beds, TV and cooking facilities and a huge PRIVATE bathroom and toilet – result!. The location of the property is about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus terminals and there is also a large supermarket within 10 minutes walk as well. Bad: Cant find any fault at all with the upgraded room at all.

such a pleasant stay, exceeds our expectation, staff very accomodating even leave a welcome message, the hostel is very clean and homey and is located within walking distance to the bus center with plenty of restaurants nearby and a convenience store beside it. you should check out this place.

This hostel is very nice and clean. The staff is very nice and there is a lot of space, including a kitchen and a living room. There, I met very friendly people (Japanese and foreigners), so I had a really nice stay.

Overall it was an extraordinary experience. Staff was very polite and helpful. We four friends shared one big room with four beds. we faced only one problem, For taking shower we had to go to first floor from forth floor coz there wasn't bathroom on our floor but they do have showers in single rooms. If I got the opportunity to visit Gifu prefecture again I would like to stay in this hotel only.

Staff was friendly and helpful, they made us feel like home. Our room (Japanese style tatami mat with futons and bathroom) was spacious enough for three people and we enjoyed setting up our own futons. It was a quick walk to the train station/bus terminal and also to downtown were all the restaurants were located.

Modern and clean design hotel. Located just next to convenience store, clean washroom and bathroom, equipped kitchen It's good if you are in budget and need a place to overnight. Staff is helpful and able to communicate in English. Unfortunately it's very noisy on the night I stayed (even there's rules). Soundproof is really bad as you can hear clearly on the next door conversation and the packing-unpacking sound. No door (even for private room, but with curtain to separate) and you need to makeup your own bed.
