All utilities are on, CLEAN water. Our newly built Shepherd’s Lodge is the perfect getaway or home away from home. A short 15 minute drive from Asheville, enjoy mountain living in beautiful Hominy Valley at the foot of Mount Pisgah. You will have a fantastic view of the mountains from both porches! Sometimes you will see hot air balloons floating close by. Often the curious goats and sheep will stop by the adjacent fence to say hi. If you visit once, we’re sure you will come again! We look forward to welcoming you on our homestead!
Shepherd’s Lodge (1,000 square feet plus basement), a modern, newly built farmhouse, is located on a quiet, walkable cul-de-sac in Hominy Valley. It is surrounded by green spaces, centrally located and an easy drive (15 to 20 minutes) to the attractions Asheville has to offer. No 4-wheel drive necessary.
In less than 20 - 30 minutes you can be on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Bent Creek hiking and biking area or the surrounding towns of Black Mountain, Waynesville and Canton for great shopping, dining or entertainment.
Close-by:
3 minutes to convenience store and gas station
5– 8 minutes to grocery stores and gyms
10 minutes to restaurants (dine-in or delivery): Italian, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, Breakfast, Burgers, Sushi, BBQ
The Space:
All rooms in the house are bright and full of natural light, and you will love the incredible panoramic mountain views from the windows and decks.
Have breakfast on your front deck while watching the goats, sheep and chickens (fresh eggs available).
After a happy day on the trails, cool off in our private in-ground family pool and hang out by the firepit on the poolside patio. For the winter months, the living area with its cozy electric fireplace and lofted ceiling offers a comfortable place to relax on the couch.
Socialize and enjoy the stunning mountain views while sipping drinks or making a perfect meal on the Weber grill on the back deck.
Enjoy reading a novel or connect with work in the upstairs loft area equipped with a desk and futon.
Go for a quick workout or a run on the treadmill in the full walkout basement.
If you are bringing extra toys, bikes, etc., there is storage room in the basement.
Parking for RV’s, trailers, boats, etc. is available upon request.

Super comfy, full size couch and a love seat in the living area next to the kitchen.
Indoor and outdoor dining for four.
50 inch Samsung TV with Roku (use your own streaming services).
Electric fireplace for cozy winter nights.
Gather to play one of the games we have provided in the hutch by the stairs, or relax into a novel from the book shelf.

Fully equipped kitchen with new, stainless steel appliances, fridge with icemaker, dishwasher, coffee grinder, blender, toaster, and all necessary cook/bakeware and utensils.
3-burner Weber propane grill on the back porch, along with a table for four.

Complimentary toiletries, floor mats and plush luxury towels are provided.
Toilets and Septic System:
Please be kind to our sensitive septic system. Only flush bodily waste and toilet paper in moderation. Everything else must be disposed of in the trash. For your convenience, wax paper bags have been provided for tampons, applicators, and sanitary napkins.
Laundry:
A full washer and dryer along with a limited amount of laundry detergent are available for you to use.
Work space:
There is a dedicated work space facing a beautiful view toward Asheville in the upstairs loft area. Fast Spectrum Internet with WIFI throughout the house.
Pool:
The pool is located a short walk downhill to the adjacent backyard. If you would rather drive, parking is available close to the pool. Please inquire.
We have provided pool towels for your convenience. Bathroom towels provided are NOT to be used in the pool area.
No glass containers or food are allowed around the pool. Glass splinters are almost impossible to see and remove, especially under water.
Smoking and vaping is not permitted in the pool area.
The pool will be open mid May through the end of August (exact dates vary according to the weather).
Fitness:
A small gym is set up in the basement of the house (treadmill, Total Gym, steps, elastic bands, light weights, floor mat).
Smoking:
NO smoking/vaping: Inside the house, the pool area or the pool patio.
OK to smoke/vape: On the porches or in the yard around the lodge.
Smoking or vaping inside the house will incur a $500 fine.
Trash:
Please tie all trash bags and place them in the bins provided by the side of the house.
Disposal:
Please note that the septic system is not able to handle food scraps flushed down the drain.
Use the sink strainer at all times, and only use the disposal to clear the drain of occasional, incidental food particles.
All plates must be scraped into the trash or provided container before rinsing them and loading them into the dishwasher. Food waste is to be disposed of in the trash, and NOT in the disposal. For your convenience and to prevent smells, we have provided a small, lidded container next to the sink for the disposal of food waste.
Pets:
Well-behaved pets are always welcome (with prior permission). Please inquire before booking!
Please note:
Pets must be on a leash anytime they’re outside. Please pick up after your pet.
No pets allowed on the furniture, except if the provided furniture pad is used.
If you’re not with them, pets must be crated at all times.
You will be responsible for any repairs, cleanings or other issues due to your pet.
We collect a $50 nonrefundable pet fee per pet to offset extra cleaning time.
Undisclosed pets will incur a charge of $500 per pet, so please make sure we know who’s coming.
Parking:
Up to two vehicles on graveled area behind or next to the house. It is possible to bring an RV or a trailer (e.g., boat or camper). Please make prior arrangements with us. A garage or carport is not provided.
Guest access:
Easy keypad entry. Front and basement doors both use the same number code reprogrammed for your stay.
Check-in time is 3:00 pm or anytime after
Check-out is 10:00 am or anytime earlier
Safety:
Please be aware that the Lodge is located in a country setting. The animal barn (especially the loft area) is not to be entered under any circumstances due to loose floor boards.
Children must be supervised at all times.
Because we want to stay on good terms with our neighbors (who are awesome), we are not able to permit events, parties or overnight guests without prior approval.
Firewood is not provided, so please purchase your own.
