The room was comfortable, as were the bed and pillows. Nice linen. A historic hotel right by the majestic fleuve Saint Laurent. Front desk staff very good and pleasant.
When a room is rented to two guests I think that it is important that there be two armchairs, two robes, lamps on both sides of one bed. This hotel did not meet all of these expectations. We also paid for a water view and although we did have one we also had some unattractive things outside our window ...a panel van with an extension ladder, some sort of plywood panels lying on the ground. It looked like a staging area for construction work. Not what I would have paid extra for. We also felt that the restaurant did not offer a comfortable dining experience. We were crammed into one end of a bar. I would have expected a finer dining experience in such a hotel. The music was loud and sometimes unpleasant, we were right by the door to the patio that was being used for guests who wished to go outside (it was freezing out). The food was good (but I was brought a meal that I did not order).

It's a great hotel in a very scenic location. The hotel has electric plugs at multiple parking locations and a free fast EV charger at one of them as well. The room we stayed in had a great view, and the restaurant that's a part of the hotel had an excellent patio that they are renovating with a modern glass barrier, replacing the dated metal one for an even better scenic look.
The AC was blowing air directly on the bed. It is possible to adjust the direction of the air flow, but only for about an hour. It seems like it resets back to its original "blow in your face" setting after that. It's also not possible to reduce the amount of air the AC blows to a lower setting.

Location was great. Service at the front desk was great. Rooms are very nice and well maintained and very clean.
Building is architecturally beautiful and historic. Grounds are well kept. Views of the lake and surrounds are very good.
Bags of laundry blocking emergency exit and stairs.
Not a fan of the type of art on the walls but this is very subjective.
Restaurant was not able to handle being at full capacity, very long waits to be seated or served drinks or meals. Saw many dishes being returned.

Location
Needs careful attention to details in rooms if they want to claim the four stars value.
Old and deteriorating furniture.
Not too clean as expected for the price

The hotel is on the St Lawrence River-it looks more like the ocean. great walking places, including the beach. The restaurant was overlooking the ocean and had great food.

The restaurant patio was great with good food and an amazing view. Restaurant staff were friendly and helped with translation of menu items to English.
Hotel reception staff were not friendly which was disappointing. Check in and out was easy but would have been better with nicer attendants.
There was a live concert in the adjacent park which was annoying as you could hear the music in the room and at the restaurant where it competed with the restaurant bar music. Thankfully the concert stopped at 11 pm though.

We had a room with a view on the water. We ate two excellent dinners at the hotel restaurants.
The breakfast (French toasts) were not good.

Good location, next to a lovely park. Nice decor. Nice tent on patio for evening meals. Comfortable bed and bedding
Restaurant service was quite slow but thankfully we weren't in a hurry

Breakfast room was a large banquet hall without much character but had white table cloths and a wonderful view if the bay and morning sun. Good menu.
Nice cosy bar off main lobby, good parking.
Modern separate shower would be nice but not likely in a traditional old hotel.

For a 4 Star hotel the impressions did not match up at all.
I usually only post positive feedback. Unfortunately in this case we feel it is important to state our real experience.
First, we had to complain about the cleanliness of the room, The toilet was really dirty and so was was the bath.
The second part on cleanliness was that the carpet in the room was not vacuumed. It seemed the towels where changed between guests and maybe the sheets .. .. .. and that during the end of a pandemic??
When we notified the staff, the response was a rather indifferent feedback and the situation was rectified as requested.
In any case, we went on for the breakfast in the morning ...
The options for breakfast where limited, which is uncommon in any facility 3 stars and over..
The breakfast I had chosen was a standard egg 2 meat ... simple ....
Unfortunately the eggs where nearly raw!!! which is surprising not only for a 4 Star hotel, but also since they where sunny side up, so that the level of cooking (or the lack thereof) was clearly visible... yet it was served to us.
Needless to say, that we did not reserve any table for the dinner that night and ate somewhere else instead.. just to be on the safe side...
The overall impression after the 2 days was negative. It seems a Hotel past it's prime and not in a hurry to change that back to the better. Some of the staff tried to be friendly, some others seemed to have given up .... which indicates that there are lack in supporting their staff to perform better and not so much a fault of the staff themselves ....
What was supposed to be a little highlight during our trip ended up to be the worst of all chosen locations.
The stars displayed on the front door are misleading and in it's current stage undeserved.
