Definitely location.
The room is spacious, but it is old and filthy.
Especially the refrigerator was not working and was in bad condition.

The hotel rooms are very outdated and so is the staff. I was treated poorly by greeter and desk check-in. The room was deplorable. Everything was dated and broken. My view out the window was a fire escape for$200 a night. I felt the rudeness was racially motivated by the entire white haired senior citizens employed at the Drake.

Our room was larger than expected and with a great view. The hotel is elderly but has a lovely touch of class about it - not stuffy, but nice. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Brilliant location. Would definitely be my first choice if visiting Chicago again.

The Drake offers a romantic and upscale vibe. The rooms have been updated and are very well appointed. The location is perfect for shopping and close to Rush street with some of the best restaurants. Would definitely recommend staying at the Drake.

Où sont les sorties de bains? Les gobelets pour se brosser les dents? Le réfrigérateur ? L accueil charmant du personnel dans le lobby? Le petit déjeuner ? L hôtel est décevant et impersonnel.

Only the location
No refrigerator in room. Shower was unusable alternating every 20 or seconds from freezing cold to scalding hot. Included breakfast was throwing us into a dirty busy coffee shop with basically only fried sandwiches. The gym was extremely underwhelming.

Dejé mi powerbank cargando en el vestíbulo, los de seguridad la recogieron, pregunté en el front desk si alguien la tenía y nadie me ayudó. Al día siguiente le pregunté a los de seguridad y ellos me ayudaron.

iPad didn’t work in the room, closet light wouldn’t turn off. Staff really didn’t seem to care much on either issue.

My Visa card did not work because they just swiped it when it should have been inserted. You‘d think a big hotel chain knows that. I proposed to pay the 6(!) nights in cash but the manager would still not let me have the room (after a 10 hour flight from Europe). Had to argue for over an hour and had to pay cash for six nights and €500.- cash deposit. Very old and lumpy bed, took three days to get a new mattress. Breakfast included: They give € 15.- credit, coffee (out of the carafe) costs € 7.-. At the end of the stay, not one word of apology. Never again!

"The full american breakfast" turns out to be a 15 USD voucher thats far from whats promised.
The AC in the room sounds like a car from the 70ies
The hotel bar is pretty muggy and smells.
The room lacks proper AC outlets and has no USB charging facility
All in all - old, over rated and pretty over priced

Checking in was very easy. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location of the hotel was excellent. Christine at the bar was very friendly.
I didn’t realise you had to request the room to be serviced as this wasn’t mentioned at reception when checking in but once we realised the room was cleaned the very next day.

Fabulous hotel and location. Bar service and atmosphere were fantastic. Room was spotless and comfortable. Hotel was quiet and felt private. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Parking is a little pricey and the garage was harder to find than anticipated. But, it’s Chicago and those are issues everywhere. Not enough to keep me from going back!
