Very nice, quiet location overlooking the ocean. It is possible to walk down to the beach but pay attention, as the path is not well maintained. Property manager very good with communication about check-in. Best feature of the house is the spacious porch with outdoor shower. When we arrived, the house was very hot, especially the upstairs where the bedrooms are (all windows were closed, and there is only one small fan in one bedroom). We also encountered a few large cockroaches. House could be amazing but needs some loving touches.

This is a great place to stay if you want to be more in an “off the beaten path” area with beautiful views. It is in walking distance to a nearby waterfall and beach bar/cafe. You can also climb down to a secluded beach area right by the house. It is also in a central location to get to all the key sites on the island. I would caution that taller/larger people would find it a challenge with the low ceilings and a small shower. Nuno is great with communication for anything needed.

Very helpful host and beautiful views distinguish this house with so much charm and great location. Half hour from Ponta Delgada and ten minute walk from a fantastic beach and small local restaurant. Great spot to explore the island from, but honestly you would be fine just staying here and doing nothing too. Go see the local waterfall!

Nuno’s house was perfect for us. The location was convenient to all of the island. We loved the little village of Porto Formosa and hope to return. There are some tucked away gems of restaurants in the village that outdid the food we ate in the larger cities. The local beach Praia dos Moinhas was outstanding and a short stroll away. Nuno always responded right away to our questions and was a terrific host. We could not have chosen a better place to spend a week (that went by all too fast).

Beautiful location right on the ocean - we fell asleep to the sound of waves on the beach. Just lovely!

Interesting and authentic house on a beautiful cliff top location on San Miguel. Great for accessing the north and eastern areas of the island. Likely the single most incredible view of the surf from the bedroom window. Nice deck to grill out, watch the waves and have a meal. Host - Nuno was great and checked in to make sure everything was right. Everything you need for a great stay.

This was a fantastic spot for taking a dip in the morning with the sunrise and relaxing at the end of the day. The view is amazing.

This gorgeous retreat came exactly as advertised. Indeed, the views were even more stunning in person that in the pictures. The property is centrally located and made it easy to access all of the main sites on the island. It was the perfect getaway for us and our two teenagers! One note of caution: The bedrooms are located in a loft-style second floor with low, slanted ceilings (maybe not ideal for very tall people!)

The house and the location are marvellous and the communication with Nuno worked also well. We enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful house right near the cliffs and a private beach of Porto Formoso. Had everything we needed and the patio outside was perfect to enjoy a coffee and breakfast to hear and see the waves crash amongst the rocks. You can hear the roosters and birds and it’s a beautiful please to relax. Highly recommend staying here!

It was really nice all in all, a quite simple but cozy house. Communication and everything with Nuno went very well and uncomplicated. He also prepared a little breakfast for the first morning, which was very appreciated by us. Thank you!

Nuno’s House by the sea is wonderful! Beautifully decorated, all the necessary amenities, comfortable bed, great views, clean, and such a great location for seeing the island. (A previous review noted that there’s only a curtain between the two queen beds - we had a door that closed between the beds. So, maybe that’s new, but good to note.) If we go back to Sao Miguel, I won’t hesitate to book this property again.

Nuno was an awesome host, amazing home and view. Located in a small town about 25 minutes from Ponta Delgada nestled on a high point with a fantastic balcony overlooking the ocean. Great food minutes away and would definitely go again.

Coming from a place wrecked with snow throughout the winter, February in the Azores is far from uncomfortable. This house only made it better. Cozy is a perfect term for it, and it's perfect for 2-3 people. Can't complain about waking up to the sights and sounds of the ocean waves, and the location makes it easy to drive anywhere in under an hour. Having been in the off-season, I can see how it's probably a far busier summer season; great bean within walking distance, along with a great trail. The main downstairs room could maybe benefit from another couch-style chair or seating, and other than a low-ish ceiling in the bedrooms, there was nothing but good things. Nuno was great, prompt, and just a nice guy. Wish him all the best.

Casa do Mar was a wonderful cozy surprise. Yves' heart art (you will see it all around the island) welcomes you in. The views and atmosphere surrounding the property are breath taking. Short distance from the house is the village of Praia dos Moinhos where there are a couple of places to eat and a nice black sand beach. Also there are nature trails, vistas, secluded locations not far. A good central location on the island with easy access to the highway. Nuno was a very hospitable host and provided everything that was needed. In all a very enjoyable experience.

Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt, grandiose Blicke aufs Meer aus allen Fenstern und der Dachterrasse. Die Lage des liebevoll eingerichteten Hauses ist sehr zentral für alle Ausflüge, fussläufig ein gutes Fischrestaurant am Strand . Ganz herzlichen Dank an unsere Vermieter, die uns mit einen bunten Begrüssungskorb begrüßt haben, so dass wir fürs erste leiblich gut versorgt waren, neben vielen bunten Blumen in den Vasen.

Die Lage (Meerblick auch aus dem Schlafzimmer -liegend !!; ) ist auch für die Ausflüge der Inselhighlights und Strände Ideal. Nuno und seine Frau sind sehr sympathische, zuvorkommende und großzügige Gastgeber, die gleich zur Stelle sind, Sonderwünsche gerne erfüllen und eine ehrliches Interesse an den Gästen haben. Der Weg zum Strand war zu unserer Reisezeit durch einen Erdrutsch schwer begehbar. Das Baden hier ist wegen großer Steine nur bei sehr geringem Wellengang möglich. Der 400m entfernte Sandstrand ist perfekt. (Hinter dem Parkplatz und Zeltplatz gibt es eine Schlucht mit Wasserfall und Bademöglichkeit die nicht beschildert ist...) Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen! The way to the beach was at our travel time by a landslide difficult to walk. The bathing is possible because of large stones only at very low waves. The 400m distant sandy beach is perfect. (Behind the parking lot and campground there is a gorge with a waterfall and swimming is not signposted ...) We enjoyed our stay very much!

Just spent a week at Casa do Mar, and we didn't want to leave. The house is immaculate and well-equipped. It has a gorgeous view, with a terrace, in a lovely little village. It is walking distance to the beach and 3 local restaurants. There is a hiking trail nearby, and, if you get tired of the view and have a car, there are many things to do within an easy drive. We plan to go back to stay in this lovely spot again soon.

Excellent location and amazing view.

We loved staying in the beach house! The views from the bedrooms and the deck were amazing. The house is located in the little village of Porto Formosa, giving us an "off-the-beaten-path" Azorean experience. After visiting the touristy Ponta Delgada, we really appreciated our quaint house on the opposite side of the island. Nuno was a very accommodating host and the house was immaculate. Just a note - the second bedroom is only separated from the other bedroom by a curtain, so those wanting more privacy (i.e., two couples rather than a family) need to be aware.

Thank you to Nuno and Marta for a fantastic stay at you beautiful home. It was immaculately clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The views of the sea were amazing and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony of an evening after a busy day exploring the island. The property was in a quiet village but easily accessible for the island . We would recommend staying here , we were made to feel most welcome by Nuno and Marta. Thank you for your hospitality. On the whole the Azores is a fantastic place to visit , where the locals are extremely friendly. The scenery is amazing with many walks, hikes and hot springs to enjoy.

We can’t say enough about this house. The setting right on the north coast was spectacular. We awoke everyday and sat on the beautiful private little patio and enjoyed our breakfast.Nuno and Marta were easy to reach, helpful, friendly, perfect hosts. The house was comfortable with everything we needed for our 2 week stay. We highly recommend this house. We already want to go back to the beautiful island and it’s people. Deb March 2018

Nuno was a fabulous host & the unit had everything we needed for a great stay. The location was just out of the way enough to give the real flavour of life in Sao Miguel. Yet we were only a short car ride away from Ponte Delgada's shops & Restaurants, the Tea plantation, or the hot springs of Furnas. Add breathtaking vistas in all directions and you have the formula for a unique vacation experience.

The house is very clean, well equipped and has lots of character. Marta and Nuno went out of their way to add personal touches such as a welcome basket of food and Christmas decorations. It was great to be able to sit out on the terrace and enjoy the fantastic sea views. The location of the house is very convenient for touring the island especially since it has easy access to the fast road linking Ponta Delgada and Nordeste.

Wir wurden von Nuno sehr freundlich empfangen, insgesamt sehr nette Kommunikation. Das Haus ist einfach aber schön eingerichtet, alles war sehr sauber.
