We had an absolutely fabulous trip to Boone/Vale Crucis. This house is by far the best VRBO we have stayed in. The view, location and home are fantastic. The house was immaculate, and the kitchen fully equipped. Hosts are organized, easy to communicate with and unobtrusive. We plan to book again for the same time next year.

Family from Coastal NC, Florida, Georgia, and New Jersey came in to enjoy fall foliage, see my App State Senior, and root on Mountaineers Football! The house is fabulous! Very clean and all that was promised, including an exquisite view! Communication with owners was easy and prompt. The gravel drive was a bit daunting for those not used to mountain driving, but they got used to it after a day or two! Highly recommend this lovely home!

The house was amazing! It was super clean and had everything we needed - even firewood for the fire pit. The owners were helpful in quickly answering the questions we had before the trip. Definitely 5 stars in all areas!

This is a beautiful place that is fully up to date with more than enough room for our party of six. The location is close enough to all the fun stuff in Western NC including Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Boone and Banner Elk. We did not do it but Ashville could certainly be day trip. The owner is a great communicator. Nothing went wrong but they gave us helpful hints, provided details about the property and stayed in touch throughout. We will definitely consider this place for the next time we go to Western NC for a mountain visit.

The view was amazing, house was beautiful, location in a beautiful gated community on the mountain. It was perfect for our party of seven adults.

We went with one other family and had combined 6 kids under 10. The layout of the house is great for two families, and we had the baby downstairs napping without being disrupted. It’s close to everything you’d want to go to, and has everything you need to feel like you’re home. Don’t worry about the other driveway comments, it’s not dangerous or scary, just go slower on the gravel incline to keep wheels from spinning and it’s all good. The hosts were great at communication, and were super accommodating when I had shipped a few things to the house from Amazon not realizing it would end up in a parcel locker (don’t order things to the house or you’ll suffer the same fate!)

My parents, sister, her daughter, my wife and two daughters and I stayed here for an amazing Father’s Day weekend. This cabin has it all! My sister and her 6 month old had their own space upstairs, my parents had their in the middle and my family and I stayed downstairs where everyone had their own living room, TV beds. The decks were so spacious, and the views were incredible! No neighbors within view or hearing. It was an incredible and memorable weekend. There was nothing bad I can say about this place.

Beautiful house, very clean, perfect for our family. Well stocked kitchen, lots of games, plenty of room. The area with bunk beds for kids is adorable. Owners were great to work with. They left us a nice welcome package, responded to all messages and were very nice.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at the cabin. It was sparkling clean, high ceilings, gorgeous wood, awesome patio, and amazing location. You are right in the woods, close to hikes, but only ~15 minutes from Boone. I'm already looking for an excuse to come back!

So thankful for an early check-in on Christmas Eve. Beautiful home with plenty of room for the 8 on 3 levels. Mother Nature had other plans for our trip. Upon arriving we found out due to the crazy temps (-17) that the house had no heat or water. We notified the owner’s, started afire and bundled up. The owners put in a maintenance request but being Christmas Eve it took a few hours (again understandable being a holiday). About 7pm it was determined that we would not have water for the duration of our trip as the pipes had froze from the well to the house. House temperatures luckily heated up with the use of an electric heater. The owners gave us the option of a refund. It was dark, the temps had dropped causing the roads to refreeze so we didn’t think it would be safe to travel that late, but knew we could not stay the planned time without running water. We had a wonderful Christmas morning around the fire opening gifts. We were thankful for clear and honest communication from Ruth and Harry throughout the day and we certainly understand this was out of everyone’s control. If given another opportunity to travel to Vilas again wewould not hesitate to book this phenomenal home. Welearned in looking for another house to continue our vacation that the majority of houses in the area were with water due to pipes freezing. They said they had never seen temperatures that low for that long.

This was truly a home away from home. Fully equipped kitchen! Clean. Comfortable beds. Perfect for multi family. Plenty of towels and linens. Tons of games to play with adult children as well as our grandkids. We were able to celebrate a birthday and Thanksgiving. Owner was very communicative. Binder in the property helped us pick places to eat etc. it was an amazing and wonderful experience.

Fabulous house accommodating 4 couples on golf trip. Wonderful, peaceful views on back deck, with multiple areas inside for social gatherings. All amenities hitting/acceding expectations. Easy and efficient checkin/checkout.

Great house! The location was good, just outside of Boone, and close to many hikes. The views are incredible. Kitchen was well-stocked with everything you need. The owners were very receptive to our questions, and they answered promptly. Only negative was that it is called a 5-bedroom, and that is not really accurate. The bunk room does not have a door on it, and that is problematic in getting young children to sleep. It seems like it could be easily remedied by hanging a sliding barn door on the adjacent wall, similar to the one attached to the nearby bathroom. Beyond that, everything was great, and we would definitely consider renting this house again, especially if the bunk room is fixed!

We stayed here for 3 nights to be near the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. The house is exactly as described. It is in perfect condition and well appointed. It is quite a beautiful location. The only negative is the gravel driveway. It was an effort to turn my truck around every time to be able to get out. Smaller cars had no problem.

Very clean well equipped appreciated the kitchen essentials, spices etc. Great view and fire pit Convenient location Initially didn't feel too welcome with all the owners questions and instructions but once we were there we enjoyed our stay

We really enjoyed our stay and the hosts were very communicative ! The property is gorgeous. I will say it may be good to put in the description that roads leading up to property have no guardrails with steep dropoffs. Some of my family were very uncomfortable as they did not have experience driving on mountain roads. The driveway also very narrow and steep.
