Best vibe at this hostel. Very welcoming and chilled. Just shows how good service changes the whole experience. The receptionist was very helpful. Everyone here seemed very friendly. Only stayed one night so can’t comment too much on facilities but kitchen seemed ok.

Not toilets and showers for a a lot of people but it wasn’t too much of a problem

Staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to help accomodate our group. The property was very clean and well-looked after. Our room was air conditioned which was very nice in the heat.

Good location a short walk from the beach. Kitchen is very nice, with good organizing and lots of utensils.

Dorms felt a bit too crowded, and the mattresses were very squeaky. Unfortunately there are no curtains/ways to hide in your bed, and I felt very much on display in the top bunk.

I really enjoyed this off the beaten path location from central Tamarindo. When it's a busy weekend and the music is thumping, you will appreciate the relative tranquility. The kitchen is very clean and quite organized.

It's a little hike from all the active places. But this is a good thing!

Everything! I could have stayed forever. It was a real family vibe, a true sanctuary. A very magical place indeed x

This is one the best places I have stayed in my life. Backpackers has such a welcoming and friendly environment. Even in six days I felt like I was surrounded by family. I met so many incredible people. It was so hard to leave, but one day I will go back. If you are going to take a lesson a surf lesson, do it through Marco's school!

I honestly have nothing to say because the stay was so pleasant. This is a quiet hostel so if you want to party just go into town.

Honestly this hostel was just "ok", which isn't great considering it was one of the most expensive ones I booked in Costa Rica at $17 a night (a side note, I'd booked the 8 bed dorm but was put in a 10 bed - I didn't really care but reading other reviews it seems to be a regular thing of putting people in the wrong room!). The bathroom wasn't the best with water constantly covering the floor and black mould on the shower head - just needs a bit more love and attention in there! The air conditioning also leaked onto people's belongings on the floor. I understand that Tamarindo is an expensive area for accommodation and this was the cheapest available, but I just think this hostel could do with a bit of an upgrade and a big deep clean so you feel like you're at least getting your money's worth.

The staff is incredible! The kitchen is very clean, and the shared spaces were great. The hostel is within walking distance to downtown and the beach.

We (2 people) stayed in a private room but should have chosen a dorm for cost- our bad! The bed in the private room felt like an air mattress. Also, although the bathrooms were clean they were very smelly.

Place very near to amenities. Staff super friendly and helpful..Swimming pool was clean and nice.

It would be great to offer breakfast options although they have free coffee available.

We couldn’t use the pool at the time because it was getting re done, but I wasn’t too bothered

kitchen is clean, pool is ok, location is ok but not great

being put in a 12 bed dorm after booking an 8 bed, owner really didn't care he was ripping people off. he offered to refund the difference but never did. no hot water in shower. pillows so thin they might as well be none. booked shuttle to airport with them. was confirmed at $25 but told $65 when it arrived. left no time to book through another more reputable company so had to pay it. just another American owned place that has no scruples when it comes to ripping off their customers.
