Schmilka is a small gem, breakfast in the Helvetia hotel is superb. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Super hiking routes stary almost at the doorstep and Schmilka has super coffee places, bars. Dinner and breakfast is recommended - they both were fabulous in Helvetia.

If you have heavy luggage, it is not convenient, as the hotel has no elevators, but a great stairway to climb. Some balconies are not what you see in the pictures in the front of the hotel, they look to the sides and are not as “inviting”. The shutters in the bathroom were a bit see through, which was not so comforting, although in the dark you only see shades through.

The dinner place is not at the hotel itself, not far away but need a car ride. The charge for toddler are hard to justified.

Beautiful area, very nice staff the room was lovely, people were helpful, the area around the hotel is so lively, and wonderful to hang out in the beer garden. The surroundings are stunning, Schmilka in general is delightful. Well worth the stay.

Our timing was a bit off apparently, the reason I booked this is that is said it was a spa. Whilst there was a sauna, there was no jacuzzi which was part of why I booked this spot. It turned out that they were understaffed and therefore a few things closed early, so food and drink was not as plentiful as I would have thought. All these things that were easy to overlook for the friendliness of those who were working, and the beauty around us, but it was a disappointment.
