Overall a great stay. The rooms were good size and had pretty much everything we needed. The location was excellent, quiet street but a short walk from the main part of town,.the grocery store.and a night shop . The bicycles were a very nice and appreciated addition. Using the code for entry made check in and out easy and means you didn't need to keep track of keys. Some observations (not criticisms): the stairs up to the bed and bathrooms are narrow and winding, they need some care in going up and down. The bed is quite soft (if that matters to someone) but we nevertheless found it quite comfortable. Fans were nice given the unusually hot weather. The washer/dryer took some effort to figure out; Google translate was helpful as the instructions were in French. But having a washer was great. While the bathroom was fine, there was no shampoo or other toiletries so be sure to bring your own. The kitchen is well equipped. TV was nice and worked well. As some others have mentioned, the host came by during the week- he messaged in advance. Not a usual thing in other rentals we have had but not a problem either. We would recommend this property and host!

Location was perfect...one lane away from the main road so everything was peaceful and quiet. The owner is clearly a lover of antiques and it made us feel even more like we lived in this fairytale town rather than just visiting. This house is worth staying at just for the books kept there on Bruges. I waited until my last day to pick up two in particular that might have changed my whole visit if I had paid attention to them earlier in my trip. One book is dedicated to the excavation of De Burg and a second is the complete architecture of what must be almost every house in Bruges. I actually walked down the street with it to compare the current look of some neighboring buildings to the way they used to look a hundred years ago. That book could have been its own tour guide to the city and it is fascinating! Thank you so much for providing bicycles. We made a day trip to Damme and it was the highlight of our trip. There is not a more picturesque setting for a picnic than the apple orchard behind the cemetery at Our Lady Ascension Church. We were visiting from America and our host made check-in and check-out very easy and stopped by to introduce himself. We loved our stay and would stay here again without hesitation.

This is a lovely, nicely appointed, and comfortable 3-story townhome in Bruge, close to all historic sites, on a cute little private street. The beds were comfortable. There were ample cooking supplies (pots pans, dishes), two bikes for us to use (very convenient), lots of towels and blankets, and easy access via a code on the front door. Raphael was great with communication ahead of time and checking in was a breeze. The home is filled with art books, historic books on Belgium and bruge, games, comfy throws on the sofa, etc. Everything was very thoughtfully and carefully set up for a family on vacation. We did have one issue worth noting though: Raphael (the owner?) stopped by when we were out and came inside the house twice unannounced. On the second visit, he entered all of the bedrooms and opened the windows. He did leave a note saying he had been there (after the second visit), but we felt he should have given notice ahead of time he would be coming over. We didn't understand the purpose of his visits and have never experienced this before with a vacation rental. We messaged him about this, and he did not reply. Other than this unusual incident for a rented house, everything was great with the stay.

We are a family of 4, with 2 adult children in their 20s, travelling together.
We like to dive into the thick of things, then retreat to a quiet spot to relax and re-energize. Though we like eating out, we also enjoy having our own food and doing some cooking.
This rental met all of these needs.
It is perfectly situated, only minutes from lots of activity but on a small, quiet street off the main path. It was very clean, very well-stocked and the beds were very comfortable.
Raphael was very communicative and responded to questions very quickly, though we didn't have many.
It is on three floors, so it would not be a realistic place to stay if you have mobility challenges. One bedroom on third floor, one on second, and living area / kitchen on ground floor. The separation of everything was very nice in terms of quiet and not worrying about disturbing others who might be sleeping.
We highly recommend this VRBO. Thank you, Raphael!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hamiltonhouse. It’s a short walk to the centre and very well laid-out. Raphael let us know we could get a taxi from the station which was 14 euros. We figured out for our return there is also a very convenient free shuttle which took about 15 mins. The loft is a great space for kids, and the living areas have everything you need. Beds were very comfortable and we appreciated the laundry facilities (once we translated the dials and figured out how to use it!) The only thing we found a bit unusual was that Raphael came by on the second day when we weren’t there. He adjusted the windows upstairs and down and left a note on the table and in the bedroom. Normally, hosts let you know before they come in, but perhaps Belgian customs are different. Apart from that, we thought everything was excellent. Thanks very much

This is a great location for exploring Bruges. It is tucked into a a quiet residential neighborhood away from the crowds.
The house is nicely furnished and the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, cookware and appliances.
There are also quite a few books and maps about Bruges. The host stopped by to make sure everything was OK and gave us several restaurant recommendations.
I would highly recommend staying here while visiting Bruges.

We had a very nice time staying five nights in this house. It is compact yet comfortable. Neighborhood is quiet, but it is an easy walk to the center and multiple bars. Beds very comfortable. Shower nice. Tap water tasted good. Note, the only shower is within the 1st floor bedroom, so the people sharing house need to be very comfortable with each other. Better for parents and children than two couples. The owner is very nice. There weren’t many rules and instructions with the house, a change from the full page of instructions we typically get with a holiday home! The kitchen is tiny with a small microwave/oven combo and no freezer, but we managed. Do go to the market on Wednesday morning for delicious cooked takeaway food you can bring back to the house and eat for dinner. We made use of the included umbrellas.

This was the perfect stay for our family of 4 (kids 7 and 11). Raphael communicates quickly and easily, and the house is very nice, well maintained, and had everything we needed.
The ground floor has a small sitting area, dining area, and a well stocked kitchen in between with refrigerator, stove top, and combination microwave / oven. Small, steep, spiral steps lead to the second floor where the landing area has a small bathroom with toilet and sink. The large master bedroom is here too with a king bed (might separate into 2 twins, but I’m not sure), a shower and sink, and a small washer/dryer. More steep, spiral steps lead to the third floor, which is a loft bedroom. It has 2 twin beds (which can be pushed together if needed), and a sizable area with a chest of drawers and area for suitcases.
I find it helpful to really understand the layout of a place to see if it’s right for you, so hopefully this is useful to another guest considering staying at this wonderful home!
By the way, we had high expectations for Brugge, and we were still blown away. It is one of our favorite places we’ve ever been.

Hamiltonhouse provided a comfortable, well-equipped (kitchen), home away from home for our stay in Bruges. The home, located within walking distance of the historic center of Bruges, allowed us easy access to museums and sites in the city. Our host responded to questions and provided additional information we requested in a timely manner.

Property was as listed or better. Location was within 5min walking distance to busy town center. House was very well equipped, clean, and bright. Raphael was very helpful to us suggesting a very scenic bike route to a cute town called Damne approx. 6 miles away along a tree lined canal built by Napolean. Bikes are included with the rental. We traveled for three weeks using VRBO as well as Hotels. This was our favorite place. Would highly recommend.

This property was beautifully renovated and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, etc. and had a dishwasher. There was a washer/dryer on the second floor. The property was immaculate. Linens were spotless and there were ample towels. The location was perfect, offering us walking access to all the major sites as well as to parts of the city more off-the-beaten- path. We would definitely recommend this house.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hamilton House. It’s close to restaurants & canals but about 10 minute walk into the market square. This space would be great for two couples or a family with older children. Ours are 2 & 4, the space was great but the stairs made me nervous.
Home had good kitchen amenities and coffee :) always appreciated! And Raphael’s communication before check in was great.

House is spotless and well located. A short walk to anything you need.
Easy access from train station. Absolutely everything you need for a lovely stay in an exceptional town. Raphael is available and helpful but not obtrusive. This us one of the finest rentals were have had. We highly recommend.

Great location for exploring Bruges
Great property. Well appointed - comfortable beds. Host very easy to communicate with and helpful. We were 4 friends travelling together, so beds were separated into 4 singles. Only 1 bathroom/toilet but worked well for us. Would recommend.

We had a very positive stay at Hamilton and would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Bruges.
By the way, if you haven't visited Bruges previously, put it on your list. This is beautiful town with intact Medieval architecture, canals, parks, and artwork. We spent a week here and still did not see everything.
Hamilton House is on a side street 5-10 minutes' walk from the Market Square in Bruges and only 3 minutes from the Van Eyk square. It is only a very short walk to at least two canals. You could walk for hours in this area and still keep seeing new beautiful sites and buildings. It is also convenient to many excellent restaurants and pubs.
Note that cars are more or less a liability in Bruges. We drove, but ultimately parked our car at the train station just outside the town moat (which costs something like 5.50 euros per day). This is a Medieval city and the emphasis is on pedestrians, not cars. Having said that, there is on street parking (which is in demand) and we saw an open air parking area only two minutes from the rental (watch the fee).
Hamilton House has three floors with a living room and kitchen on the first floor, and one bedroom each on the second and third floors. The bathroom is kind of divided up on the second floor with a toilet and small sink in one room and separate shower and sink essentially off of the second floor bedroom. There were fun decorative touches everywhere. The kitchen was well equipped. The owner also provided bicycles and umbrellas.
The communication was excellent from the time we booked our rental through the time we left. They also gave us recommendations for Bruges tourism web sites, one of which proved to be very helpful.
If you have mobility issues, you may have trouble in Bruges in general due to the winding cobblestone streets. There are some relatively level sidewalks in the area. Like all of the buildings in Bruges, this property is on multiple levels with steep stairs. We thought that that was part of its charm, but if stairs are a problem for you bear that in mind here as well as in the rest of the city.
We had a very nice time here and hope to return some day.

We very much liked the accommodation. It is not large, but sufficient for 5 people (2 adults and 3 kids [17, 15 and 12 years). There were sufficient cups, plates, utensils, and pans (etc) to feel at home and not be bothered by trivialities. There was even a small beer waiting for us as a welcome. It is a grand starting point to explore the city. Bakery is nearby (300 meters) for fresh bread in the morning.
We only wonder why there is a (semi)old map of the Netherlands on the wall which states it is Belgium....

Great location and well-stocked
The location was ideal for exploring - it is so central to the main square that it made it easy to explore and then come back to the house to rest. The house was well stocked with everyting we needed, from dishes to paper towels, to soap. Our only surprize was that there was no dryer, which is a "north american" mind-set, so we ended up hanging our washed clothes on every available surface. Next time, I will take a small clothesline! The stairs are steeped, so if you are mobility-challenged, this may not work for you. We highly recommend this rental to anyone coming to Bruges.

We loved this house! Well designed. Perfect location!
We love this house in Brugge. We are a family of 4 and this apartment was perfect for us. We used the 2 bikes and they were in new condition. We slept well on the comfy beds. We used the kitchen for some meals. The place is very well designed and the decor is a perfect mix of modern and classic. I would stay here again.

Perfect!
Hamilton House has everything you could possibly need. It is richly furnished and Raphael has really thought of everything. So often we have stayed in accommodation where there are not enough towels, no iron / ironing board / hairdryer etc but this was certainly not the case. We couldn't have been happier with our stay and the check in process was seamless. In terms of location, it is a very short walk to a little shop for essentials and a lovely stroll into the centre. We have stayed in Bruges 8 times and the standard of accommodation has almost always been excellent - Hamilton House was no exception!

Seamless check in and check out. Perfect property for family of 4. Easy short walk to centre.
Nowhere to park of course because thisa is Brugge! So as a tip we parked for free in a 1 km long layby on the Eastern ring road. 15 to 20 minute walk from the house.

Wonderful home in the heart of Brugge
We spent 3 lovely days in Brugge. Raphael made everything easy and the home is very well appointed on a quiet street in walking distance to all that Brugge has to offer. Our family of five enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this home.

Lovely Home away from home
This is a really comfortable townhouse to stay in that is within minutes to the city center. Raphael is truly a good host who has all details of comfort in mind. The linen is of good quality & clean. The master bedroom bed was super comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with everything that you need to have a good family gathering. I was surprised with the good quality & quantity of utensils, glassware & dishes. The place was decorated with taste & charm. We were a family of 5 & we really liked it. One thing to note is there are 2 bikes for your use but you need to be fairly tall to use them especially the men’s bike. No fault of the host since my family are all under 5’ 2” tall. I also fully recommend planning a bike ride to Dam & it’s vicinity. The countryside is easy & picturesque. Night time walk around town is romantic as well. Enjoy Brusse.
