I cannot say enough good things about our time staying in this villa. First of all, the location is stunning. The grounds are so peaceful, well kept, and the view of the gulf is beautiful. Alexis was a perfect host and has made sure his guests have everything they could need. He was always available if needed. The house was spotless and it was regularly cleaned while we were there. There is a wonderful taverna down the road but the kitchen is full of gadgets and all the essentials if one prefers to cater for themselves. There’s a supermarket not far away as well. The location of the property is perfect as a base while staying on Lesvos. It’s not a far drive at all from Mytilene or the airport. It’s easy to get from there to many other places on the island too. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Lesvos.

So ein schönes Ferienhaus hatten wir noch nie! Eine geräumige, wunderschön eingerichtete, perfekt ausgestattete Villa. In der großen Küche war einfach alles, was man brauchen könnte (Küchenmaschine, Mixer, scharfe Messer...). Und die Lage: Ein Traum! Das Meer vor der Tür (wegen zahlreicher Seeigel Badeschuhe mitnehmen oder auf der Insel kaufen!) mit einem kleinen wunderschönen Strand, an dem man ganz alleine ist. Dort Paddelboote für vier Personen, mit denen man den Golf erkunden kann. Von den anderen Häusern auf dem weitläufigen Grundstück und den anderen Gästen merkt man praktisch nichts, weil so viel Platz ist. Reichlich Sitzgruppen und ein Außenbett verteilen sich locker über das Gelände. Einfach ein Paradies! Zwei Wochen waren viel zu kurz. Zudem ist Lesbos wunderschön, man kann viele Ausflüge machen, die Landschaft ist sehr grün. Die quirlige und schöne Hauptstadt ist ganz nah und dennoch hat man vollkommene Ruhe. Eine sehr schöne Fischtaverne an einem kleinen Hafen ist fußläufig zu erreichen. Wer sich Sorgen macht, ob die Flüchtlingssituation so ist, dass es einem die Urlaubsfreuden trüben könnte: Das ist absolut nicht der Fall. Von den vielen Menschen, die immer noch auf der Insel leben, sieht man einige Familien die friedlich spazieren gehen, Männer die angeln, mehr nicht. Dass da schlimme Schicksale hinter stehen, die einem manchmal vor Mitleid Herzschmerzen machen, ist ja klar. Aber ein Grund, nicht auf Lesbos Urlaub zu machen, ist das sicher nicht. Und die Einwohner freuen sich natürlich über jeden Urlaubsgast, der nach dem Einbruch des Tourismus in den letzten Jahren wieder kommt.

Alexis and Catherine’s place at Pirgi is a real small paradise. Their stone-house is beautiful and lovely set up and organized. We live in a big house in Milan and we don’t miss any comfort we are used to. Ancient and fascinating olive trees are all around the house, large terraces drive you to the seaside …far just 20 mt. from the house. The small ‘private’ beach is amazing: amacas, sunbeds, couch, tables, kayaks are available and you don’t need any umbrella because of the shadow from the olive trees and tamarisk trees. The house is in front of the Ghera’s gulf. Always calm and protected by the wind, the small beach is not sandy but covered by small stones of every color you can imagine; not pretty easy for very young kids or aged people; the water is clean but not clear as for the Gulf is very protected. Diving there you can easily find an amazing variety of coquillage, oysters included! At our arrival at the house we found home made marmalade, cherry and honey, fresh figs, ouzo, olive oil, olives and feta offered by Alexis and Catherine. A garderner and a maid have taken care of the house regularly and we received a service similar to an hotel. That’s why your privacy is the same you can have at an hotel, therefore don’t count on a totally invisible presence of the owners: kind and polite over the average, anyhow. They don’t live there around but they take care of the property and guests almost every day. The house is 10 minutes from Mitilini’s downtown and it’s easy to find everything necessary. People in Lesvos is surprisingly kind and nice, don’t trust any alarming information about the island situation in order to the presence of refugees or problems linked to that issue. The island shows somewhere evidences of what happened last year but this doesn’t create any kind of problem out of welcomed emotion and empathy with desperate people and Lesvos inhabitants. Don’t miss to visit the pietrified forest, unique in the world, and Molivos…a dream. Forget the Ionian islands cuisine, if you know it…in Lesvos at any place you order a meal and surely you eat too much. First class food (salted sardines are an unexpected experience), perfect service, ultracheap prices.

Nach zwei Wochen an der Ostküste kamen wir nach nur 20 minütiger Fahrt im Haus an. Wir waren überwältigt, das Haus ist sehr geräumig (160 qm), gut aufgeteilt und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die sehr geräumige Küche ist super ausgestattet, mit allem was das Hobbykoch-Herz begehrt (vom Stabmixer über Sandwichmaker bis zur Küchenmaschine). Auch habe ich es das erste Mal in einem Ferienhaus erlebt, das scharfe Messer und genügend Geschirr, Töpfe und Pfannen da sind. Als Willkommensgeschenk gab es Uso, selbstgemachter Likör, Honig und Marmelade sowie Olivenöl aus eigener Herstellung. Das Haus wurde täglich gereinigt, die Putzfrau war sehr aufmerksam und hat uns jeden Wunsch von den Augen abgelesen. Das Resort bietet viele lauschige Plätzchen zum Verweilen und den Sonnenuntergang genieße. Der Strand ist klein aber fein, es empfehlen sich Badeschuhe. Da das Haus an einem Golf gelegen ist, hat man den Eindruck man ist an einem See. Wir haben die Woche sehr genossen und uns sehr heimisch gefühlt, wir kommen gerne wieder und können das Haus nur wärmstens empfehlen.

We stepped out of the house and were beside the water in 10 seconds. Easy access to and from the port and great location to start your adventures around this beautiful green island. We rented a car and did day trips to about 90% of the island. We swam and snorkeled in many beautiful locations and ate fantastic food every single day. The host (Alex) did everything possible to make our stay the best possible...even leaving basic food and other goodies to get us started. He was very informative about the whole island and even good the time to mark a map of great locations to visit. Thank you Alex for being such a great host. Your home was perfect in every way!!!!
