The Stables is a fabulous play to stay, nestled in the heart of the Chilterns, with Red Kites circling in the valley. Well equipped and comfortable, it is a great base to walk from and a short drive to Henley/Wallingford with great pubs nearby too.

Perfect cottage in countryside for a short break with our grandchildren. 20 mins drive from Henley on Thames which is a beautiful town. Lovely villages round about with pubs for good food.

Spotlessly clean and very cosy and warm, a huge log burner and fantastically comfy beds. The welcome was warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We really felt like guests. Highly recommend.

Jenny was v helpful with good communication. The cottage is extremely well organised with everything you would need for a self catering break. The upstairs bedroom was very comfortable and spacious although the stairs were not the easiest to negotiate. The one downside is that the central heating is controlled from the main house and we did feel a little uncomfortable asking for it to be switched on in the evening.

Our whole interaction with the owners of The Old Stables was superb - from booking, to communication, to arrival and the accomodation itself. We were made very welcome and the cottage was beautiful. We would definitely rebook for next year.

We absolutely love the garden, it’s spectacular. We sat in the garden whenever it’s dry and sunny outside. The property does not have heating control as it’s controlled by the main house which should have mentioned in the listing. The property is chilly and does not get much sun inside. Logs burner is provided unfortunately we couldn’t use it as we have 2 young toddlers running around. Jenny responded to our request instantly and turned on the heating for us. Overall all 4 of us enjoyed ourselves and slept upstairs instead of the downstairs.

This accommodation is great value for money- its welcoming and cosy and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Our hosts were helpful and friendly, and we loved watching the ducks and hens as they wandered around outside. We sat out for breakfast and coffee in the secluded courtyard garden most days and have never seen and heard so many red kites and other birds of prey as we have in the last 4 days. Lovely walks and days out in Henley and Dorchester on Thames. We had intended to visit Oxford but with so many lovely smaller villages to explore we never quite got there. I would definitely recommend a stay here. This area of the country is beautiful and the location of the property is fantastic.

This cottage is part of a converted stable block attached to the owners home. It is in a quiet, rural area so a car is necessary. A small courtyard garden was perfect for the dog who was fascinated by the ducks and chickens running around the garden. The owners were delightful and we couldn’t have ordered better weather. A very enjoyable visit. Thank you.

This was a beautiful cottage in an idyllic countryside setting, we couldn’t have wanted for more, we had a lovely few days and would love to ‘staycation’ here again.

I couldn't be happier with this property. The garden was lovely, the house charming and the owners so easy to work with. We enjoyed how close the property was to some quintessential English villages.

We had a lovely stay at The Old Stables. The accommodation was very clean and cosy. The stable bedroom was amazing. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with lots of walks on the doorstep. We would love to come back!

We stayed here for a week at the end of August and were lucky with the weather. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed to chill out. We enjoyed great walks right from here without having to drive anywhere. Plenty of pubs and cafés found along the way. Places worth visiting are Henley, Hurley and Goring. Walks along the Thames and beautiful countryside. When getting back after a day out exploring it was nice to sit in the courtyard listening and watching the red kites. The hosts were great in recommending different places to see and which cafés to visit. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to find a quite place to relax. Also our dog Nala got on really well with Toby 😃

Just idyllic - a lovingly converted stable block with all creature comforts in a magnificent setting with kind and generous hosts. What more could you ask? Utterly peaceful, lots of wildlife, extremely entertaining ducks and chickens and gorgeous Toby the dog. We had such a good time, thank you Jenny and Robert. Oh, and fantastic beds!

We all had a fantastic time at The Stables. The property was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could want. Our new rescue dog Bramble enjoyed her first trip away and loved meeting the host's dog. The cottage is in a fantastic location, with so much to see and do within a few miles. We had an amazing time at this beautiful cottage. Perfect surroundings for lovely walks with the dog and she was more than happy in cottage on her first trip away. Hosts were brilliant and very helpful. Local areas are lovely too. Teenage daughters loved their attic room with plenty of space and our stable room was gorgeous. All in all a great time had by all and would recommend to all. Hoping to go again

Easy check-in and a wonderful place to stay. We'll equipped cottage which is on the side of the barn conversion. Our dog made friends with the resident poodle, Toby, and was very happy in the little walled garden adjacent to the property. We will definitely come back!

We loved our stay at the cottage, exceptionally clean and in a great location. Absolutely loved looking round the beautiful garden and meeting the chickens and geese. Great place for a rural stay
