Beautiful property… perfect for our large family

Our family of 11 (ranging in age from 6 to 75 year old) stayed at the Blue Lagoon for a week over Christmas 2022. We all loved our time there. This is a large property (my kids kept calling it a "mansion") that allowed us all to spread out when we wanted private time but to gather in the large living room, movie room, kitchen or by the pool when we wanted to be together. Highlights of our week were enjoying over the top meals prepared by Chef Katherine of Outrageous Catering (recommended by Paul and Wendee), watching the World Cup games in the movie room, and enjoying a live ukulele music happy hour by the pool. The kids really loved feeding the koi too- it was a small thing but meaningful to the kiddos. When we left the house to adventure, we golfed at the Mauna Lani course (beautiful but so hard!), visited the Beach Club (super easy to get there with the golf cart), Hapuna Beach (about 20 minutes away and our favorite beach to bodyboard at), and we hiked down to Pololu Valley Beach (this was a hard hike but worth it for the magical views). The house it a perfect location to visit all of these locations or to eat a nice meal at one of the nearby luxury hotels. We all enjoyed the Tommy Bahama Restaurant- book this far in advance as they fill up for big parties. I would recommend this house for a large multi-generation family gathering or for a group of couples. I could see 5-7 couples renting this house for a milestone birthday. We did have a few tiny issues at the house but Wendee quickly resolved them. For example, the garbage disposal stopped working one night but Wendee sent over a plumber the next morning. We also struggled with one of the locks but Wendee sent over a video of how to work it and we quickly figured it out. It definitely felt like we were supported here with issues or questions about the island.

This is the second year in a row we've stayed at Blue Lagoon - and it has got better! They upgraded furniture all around the property including the theater room. Wendee, the property manager, is an absolute pro and responded nearly instantly to anything we needed. My only addition to last year's review that is nitpicky but I think good info for future renters: There is a good amount of variation in internet speed depending on which room you are in. So if you have someone who has to take video conferences for work, I would highly recommend you consider which bedroom you take. To be fair, the place is huge, it would be ultra difficult to have amazing internet everywhere - but the variance is enough that I would give it some thought. Remarkable stay, again. Thanks all!

This was our second trip to the Blue Lagoon and once again it didn't dissapoint. The house is stunning and if you need anything from a cot to inhouse massage service the staff will help you get what you need promptly. Highly recommend this property to any group whether a family or going for an adult party.

Words cannot adequately describe the experience we had at Blue Lagoon. First, the house is magnificent. Every room is spacious, and the living areas swallowed up all fourteen of us as if we were a small group. The kitchen was a huge hit. Every morning, our 9-year-old granddaughter awakened at dawn and made herself breakfast, followed by her aunts, mommy and Pop Pop's real breakfast. To say the kitchen is large is to say the ocean is deep. The pool was fantastic. The kids and their parents (and grandparents) spent at least 5-6 hours in it daily. The Beach Club was, as aways, a great place to snorkel, soak up the sun, enjoy an adult beverage and build sandcastles. We had an issue with the AC and contacted Wendee. It was fixed immediately by TJ. I cannot say enough about our experience at Blu Lagoon, other than it was magical. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

My husband and I live in New York, but our daughters and their families live in British Columbia, Connecticut, and Australia. COVID has kept us all apart for nearly 3 years, and two new Aussies were born during that time. Significant occasions were spent apart, sisters have missed each other, and cousins hadn't been together or met the new ones, so Hawaii seemed like a great reunion destination. Blue Lagoon is a magnificent property with great space and something for everyone. The pool is amazing, the kitchen quite large and well outfitted, and our grandchildren LOVED the media room. They not only watched films, but put on plays for the adults. The golf cart, koi pond, pool setting, views of the golf course and the goats which appeared on it in the afternoons, all highlights. The Big Island is a great destination with something for everyone of us, be it hiking, surfing, golf, or simply touring. The final highlight was an evening swim with the manta rays off the Mauna Kea hotel beach, an amazing experience. Finally, while clouds and rain frequently hovered over other parts of the island, the weather on the Kohala Coast was consistently sunny. It was perfection.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the Blue Lagoon for a week!! All bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect for our large group. The kitchen was large and well stocked for us to prepare our own meals and have Chef Katherine from Outrageous Gourmet thrill us with amazing dining experiences. The pool and the golf cart were the family’s favorites. Watching the wild goats on the golf course while in the pool was so much fun. The koi pond was also nice. Wendee, Paul and TJ were very responsive to any issue or request. With this amazing home, you never have to leave to enjoy Hawaii!! We will definitely be back. Mahalo🌺

Blue Lagoon was absolutely gorgeous! We had 8 adults and 6 children and the house was perfect for us. Everyone loved the pool, and the kitchen was amazing. Hopefully we will go back again.

A beautiful place to spend a week! The house is wonderfully open and airy and accommodated our family gathering of 16 easily. The kitchen is large enough so that 10 people could comfortably fix various breakfasts at the same time, no mean feat. The visual focus is the pool, which was well used as was the golf cart. Wendee, the property manager, recommended a fantastic chef who organized a memorable luau to celebrate our 61st wedding anniversary. The Big Island was at its best for us.

The property is beautiful and very spacious. We really enjoyed ourselves. Everything was lovely. There are 4 things I didn’t like. All of the bathrooms are in the bedrooms. There wasn’t a bathroom in the main common area. One of the bedroom didn’t have a chest or dresser. So they had to live out of their suitcases. The 2 shared rooms only have 1 toilet. And the outdoor trash cans were already running over when we got there. The trash is left behind from the previous tenants. And pick up trash day was a couple of days away. But all in all we enjoyed the beautiful and spacious estate.

My husband and I just had a 2-in-1 family vacation + (our) wedding at the Blue Lagoon. Both went even better than expected because (1) we had a BEAUTIFUL property with extensive amenities, and (2) we had the best hosts in Paul (owner) and Wendee (property manager) Some highlights from our trip: (1) pool & jacuzzi (w tiki torches): the adults loved this! The property also came with a lot of floaties so we could just relax for hours (2) theatre room: we had 4 boys between the ages of 5-8 and they all said this was “the best vacation ever!!!” because they got to play video games and sleep in a theatre for a whole week. I have to admit, it was pretty cool. I would have used the space more if the kids hadn’t taken over the space! (3) welcome basket: upon arrival, we saw a fruit basket, champagne, and 5 stuffed turtles (one for each child), and a nice welcome card! A sweet and thoughtful touch :) (4) communication before, during, after our stay: always speedy, always clear, always informative. Couldn’t have asked for better communication from a host. (5) wedding related accommodations: Wendee helped me receive packages for my wedding before I even arrived on the island. Paul also let me drop off my massive ball gown wedding dress early to reduce how much I had to travel with it! They were so accommodating and really saved me a lot of stress! (6) gem cart: we used this a lot to go to the beach club and local market/shopping center. The kids loved riding in it :) (7) Mauna Lani area: literally 5 minutes to a private beach, and the drive there is stunning, especially at sunset. Also super close to restaurants! (8) KITCHEN: 3 microwaves, 3 dishwashers, 2 ovens, 2 full sized fridges (there were also mini fridges and wine coolers throughout the property)… my sister-in-law was in Heaven! This property was definitely built to entertain. There was also so much counter space for cooking & eating that we didn’t even end up using the dining tables. (9) bathrooms: there was almost one bathroom in every bedroom. Super convenient. (10) size of space: the living room was big enough for us to comfortably fit 40 chairs for our wedding ceremony. The space could definitely fit twice that amount though! (11) laundry room: 2 sets of washers and dryers!! (12) koi pond: the kids got to feed the fish every day :) (13) mini golf: again, kids loved it Out of space, would say more if I could! BOOK THIS PLACE!!!

The Blue Lagoon is an amazing property! If you are looking for a relaxing stay with a variety of amenities and nearby activities, look no further. Our group was comprised of 14 adults and 2 babies and the home was plenty spacious! We cooked almost every night, so the three kitchen sinks, three dishwashers, two ovens, two microwaves and two refrigerators were PERFECT. The kitchen even included basic pantry items e.g. cooking oil, spices, sugar, condiments. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. Keep in mind the two of the rooms share a bathroom. The backyard was the best hangout spot, great patio/BBQ, warm pool with a large shallow ledge with shade, perfect for babies/young children. The backyard also has wonderfully cushy “putting green grass”, great for crawling babes. Access to Mauna Lani beach was a HUGE highlight, as well as the beach gear e.g. chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear. We used the golf cart every day, either for grocery store runs or to go to the beach. Epic vacation! Fun property surprises: beautiful neighborhood and community garden, lush atrium/koi pond/waterfall, and resident geckos. Minor property issues: slow draining sinks, backyard refrigerator/ice maker went out. Wendee and TJ were quick to take care of those items. Couldn’t recommend this property enough! Aloha!

We loved our stay at this amazing house. Plenty of space for everyone to come together for meals or games. Beautiful pool and outside area. Great location and amenities. Would highly recommend.

We came for my 50th birthday and had the best time! The kitchen was IMMENSE! The pool was so much fun for kids. Access to the golf cart was so helpful in running to the store. There was snorkel gear, boogie boards, a beautiful view, so much space. We will be back!

Ideal place to stay for family gathering

The house served as a perfect setting for our family reunion! We had a crew of 13, ages 5-85, and all were able to enjoy the home's amenities comfortably. The house was exactly as advertised--walking in for the first time was an unforgettable experience. The home is very well-sized. The kitchen is massive and well-stocked with two separate islands and enough space for all. We cooked daily and had no issues. The bedrooms were large and afforded privacy. We spend most of our days in the pool or hot tub-both functioned well. We highly recommend this home!!

Stayed at this property in early March, I will list the pros and cons so there is accurate info on your decision to stay: Pros: -Kona is awesome, beautiful island, steady temps in January of 82-85, no rain the whole visit. -property manager was awesome and would respond quick (to most things, except listed below) - house is large, lots of room for each person to have their own area. - awesome pool and spa - you are right in the golf course, fun to watch the golfers from the pool! Cons: - biggest con that is not listed in any prior reviews is that the property backs up to a very busy road, the road noise is so loud you can’t even talk to each other in the backyard (pool area), it was really terrible. We actually left 2 days early to go to a resort to get away from the road noise… - no where near the beach, definitely not within walking distance. - the cart that comes with the house was broke, felt like the tire was going to fall off while driving… suspect it had been crashed prior to our visit (which sucks for the manager/owner) - alerted the property manager the first day, but it was never fixed or replaced. - many things are in bad shape at the property, door handles falling off, lights broken, etc… Overall property is average - road noise is terrible, wish a prior reviewer would have mentioned that…. If this place was on the beach or not on a busy road would have been a much better experience. I hope this helps other people traveling to know what to expect - Kona is amazing, have a great trip!!!

WONDERFUL!!

Beautiful house with fabulous amenities. Highlights were the pool, the theater room, and a chef's dream of a kitchen . Very convenient to shops, golf and beach club. We had eight in our party ranging from age 11 to 75 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed out stay.

Let's talk about what matters: I will ABSOLUTELY stay here again and our family thinks it's as close to perfect as we've found in the Mauna Lani area. The place is clearly rented out a lot as there is some wear and tear that I will reference below, but that should be expected whenever doing a rental. Our group was: - Our family: Me, wife, daughter (3.5) and son (2) - My brother's family: Brother, wife, son (1.5) - A babysitter - My brother in law - A close friend Perfect: - The layout --- worth noting there is one bedroom that is separate than everyone else's --- a nice bonus when travelling with a babysitter - The pool --- for both adults and toddlers. The little wading area for toddlers is amazing. - The kitchen --- having multiple dishwashers, multiple trash cans, and multiple ovens is just amazing. I honestly didn't think we would use half the stuff but we did. - The air conditioning --- Can be very hit or miss in Hawaii but is perfect in this location. Allows for good customization by room/area. - Proximity to everything that matters in Mauna Lani - The golf cart --- another thing I didn't think we'd use but was so handy - STOCKED. Has life jackets, pool floaties, beach chairs, everything you need... I would ask questions so you don't have to schlep around stuff. - A bonus - the hole which the house sits on top of the green of is also the hole where the Mauna Lani goats like to come graze! The nothing you can do about it but good to be aware of: - There isn't great bath tubs for small small kids. The one bath tub that works has a very cool faucet that comes out of the ceiling, but doesn't really work bathing two toddlers. - If you are going to send packages/etc, there is apparently some sort of mailbox/central delivery system which caused a multiple day delay for us to figure it out. The stuff that I wish we didn't have to deal with but did --- but man, the management team was so responsive. - Upon arrival, had some trash left out in the driveway - Had two doors that didn't lock (big deal with small kids who can't swim yet and lots of water around the property) - Had a very slow sink in the master bedroom (Again - all of this was addressed with VERY quickly)

We were on the island for our nephew’s wedding, which was held on the south part of the island. The Blue Lagoon was the base for 13 family members. Many did not want to leave the house! The pool was so inviting and the house was so well equipped, the days just flew by. There was something for everyone to do plus very comfortable accommodations. Ages 13 to 78 were all smitten with the Blue Lagoon. We have rented many houses over the years, and this was a rare exception where every thing functioned as it should have—appliances and all facilities.

Great house and the pool is awesome

The Blue Lagoon property is a perfect match for an extended family. There was plenty of room for our party of 15. The features of the property made for a priceless family experience.

We all loved sitting on the lanai every morning & evening enjoying the views of the beautiful swimming pool & golf course. The kitchen was perfect for a group with everything you could want or need to prepare simple to elegant meals. Loved the proximity to the golf courses, private beach, shopping and the Mauna Lani Resort.

Just returned home from a fabulous family reunion and birthday celebration for mom. If you like to cook,-the kitchen is equipped with every appliance you would use with plenty of space for our 9 adult children to spread out. The pool is fabulous, grandchildren ages 4-17 spent hours there. The house is so spacious that each family had there own privacy area. Location is close to beautiful beaches, coastal walking trails, restaurants and a great grocery store. The golf cart makes the trips to any of these locations easily accessible. There is a beautiful garden/park area not to be missed in the middle of the houses only 25' from the end of the driveway. The property manager responded immediately and helped find a caterer in less than 36 hours for a birthday dinner.. We would all recommend this place for any family gathering of any age.

We travel quite a bit and without a doubt, the Blue Lagoon property was one of the nicest houses we have ever rented! Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, we brought our family to the Big Island for a much needed vacation! Our children and grandchildren are still raving about the time spent here! Grandkiddies refer to it as the “mansion” when we ask them the highlights of the trip! As we were in Hawaii for a month and rented at four different locations, this was the only one in which we did not have one issue. Every aspect of this house was perfect from the kitchen to the master bedroom to the pool area…. Just fabulous! Paul and Wendee were a pleasure to work with…. Would love to rent this again!

Blue Lagoon is a luxurious but very comfortable home that was perfect for our three generation family vacation. The home is beautifully appointed and very spacious with simply spectacular views. The kitchen is perfect for large groups with three dishwashers and islands to gather round. Bedrooms and bathrooms are very nicely decorated and large. The outdoor space was our favorite with spectacular sunsets and views of the golf course to one side and lava fields on the other. The golf cart and private putt putt were great perks along with the full supply of snorkel equipment, beach chairs, cooler and pool floats. Great location with the gorgeous Mauna Lani Resort and nearby beaches, grocery store, helicopter pad and shopping. With Covid still in play some of the resort access rules apparently had changed but Paul was very good to work with and has updated the description and provided more detail. I highly recommend Blue Lagoon and would happily revisit one day in the future.

Beautiful home with all the amenities you could ask for. Kitchen is amazing. We had extended family group of 15 people and had plenty of room to spread out. The outdoor pool area was beautiful and we spent most of our time there. Although be aware the pool and koi pond are not kid safe. You’ll have to keep a close eye on young children. We enjoyed riding the golf carts to the beach club. The beach was very crowded so I suggest going in mid afternoon when most people head in. The house was very clean and management was responsive to our needs. Overall a great experience! We will definitely keep it on our list to go again!

We visited for my parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration and had a wonderful week. Beautiful home and amazing kitchen! We loved the pool too.
