When planning our trip, we have of course looked closely at the photos and also the consistently excellent reviews of previous vacationers. Our expectations were accordingly high! When we entered the property and the house for the first time, our expectations were even exceeded! The pictures can not reflect the entire beauty of the house and the property! We were very warmly welcomed by Luciana, to whom we already had nice and uncomplicated contact during our trip. Also the contact with the owners Mary and Graham was very friendly and uncomplicated from the beginning! The garden is beautiful and well maintained. It offered us sunny and shady places at any time. We often spent the day, for example, in the deck chairs under the two large trees overlooking the river. How relaxing!!! In between, it was fantastic to cool off in the pool, which was really super refreshing all week, which we had really hoped for. Looking out over the river from the pool was a particular highlight for us. In the evenings there were several other options to sit in the garden and end the day, if you like also with a very nice lighting of the garden. When we felt like it, we took a nice tour with the canoe, exploring the different facets of the riverbank, which is really worth it! The house is a dream! It is beautifully located, in the middle of nature. Everything is very tastefully decorated, every little thing seems to have been chosen with love, from the furniture to the dishes to the decoration. The kitchen is also very well equipped! Having holidayed in France since the early 1990s, our immediate reaction when seeing this house was wow! As our stay continued we really appreciated all the care and attention to detail that had been given to every item in the house - everything had been thought about. The garden areas, with a choice of sitting locations, was excellent with flowers and shrubs to admire - complete with an automatic watering system. The pool and riverside view completes a house which just keeps giving and giving. There are so many areas to visit especially the Sunday morning market at Calvisson - this is not to be missed - Uzes, Pont du Gard, Sommieres, Arles and many more. Luciana (the housekeeper) is an absolute treasure and a font of knowledge - another asset to providing you with a wonderful holiday. This is a holiday home not to be missed!

This property at Aubais (Nr Nimes) is an absolute gem. The property itself is well maintained and furnished, with excellent facilities provided by the owners - English satellite TV, Wi fi, bluetooth etc. The location by the river is idyllic, with facilities for kayaking provided. The location is peaceful and rural, but with easy access to all the local sights - Nimes, Pont de Gard, Montpellier etc., and within 3/4 hours of Nimes airport. The local agent (Luciano), is very knowledgeable and helpful in all matters relating to the property, and the local area. We had a great holiday at this property, and would recommend it to anyone wishing to visit the Languedoc area of France.

The property is well maintained and everything is very lovingly designed. All things are in an english style. The kitchen is also very nice. We did not miss anything. There is plenty of shade, but also a sunny spot in the garden. The tour with the canoe was very funny and we have fun. In the evening you can play comfortably at the table and listen to wonderful CDs. In Aubais there is a bakery and a restaurant. In the vicinity of several shops and market on different days. You can do many things from here. Mary and Graham have a folder ready with all the important things. Everything is easy to use. We felt more than comfortable. We have visited Pont du Gard, Sommeriere, Aigus Mortes, the beach from Petit la Travers and La Grand Travers, Nimes and we have done a hikingtrip on our last day to the Pic Saint Lup. We ate in the restaurant Le Tabliere at our last evening. It was a surprise. Thank you for staying there Mary and Graham

Excellently presented cottage located down a quiet road. Overlooking the river with access to the two person canoe - fabulous. Walks abound and if you want bustle, Montpellier and the coast are a short drive away as are a host of Roman remains including the Pont du Gard. We spent a lot of time in Sommieres, a lovely small French town which is a five miles’ drive. All in all, a lovely holiday.

‘Especially for Two’ is the perfect description for Riverside Cottage and following our stay here in 2017 we described it in our review as our ‘Best Holiday Ever’. Well Graham and Mary, we are pleased to say that you and your team in Aubais, (Luciana, who keeps the house spotlessly clean, Fred the Pool man, who keeps the pool sparkling and clear and Marcella who keeps the gardens green and lush) have exceeded our expectations to provide us with the ‘Best Best Holiday Ever! All we can add for anyone looking looking for a holiday here (who has not stayed before) is that the HomeAway description is 100% accurate and the number of previous visitors who have given it 5 stars just speaks for itself. The local area will also provide you with everything needed for a perfect holiday - lazy rivers, gourmet restaurants, sleepy villages, sandy beaches and markets selling delicious peaches! Mary and Graham have done a fantastic job in providing first class accommodation "especially for two". We had a fantastic holiday as the cottage is furnished to such a high standard in a French style. The space works really well with the lounge diner and the well equipped kitchen, the contemporary bathroom with wet room style shower and wonderful bath and the comfy bedroom. There is a wealth of wildlife in and around the relaxing garden. We watched a red squirrel scamper up a nearby tree, a real treat from our grey variety here. Sit on the bench by the river and contemplate the view in the early morning, a calming experience, and a chance to while away a few minutes. We enjoyed eating out at night at the table facing the river, watching the night draw in. Mary and Graham have placed appropriate seating around the garden to enjoy the scenery and the space especially the slow flowing river. The area is wonderful with lots of pretty villages to visit including Sommieres which became our local town as supermarket there. We enjoyed the beaches towards Grand Travers and L'Espiguette. Luciana is very helpful and came partway through our stay to change the bedding and brought yet another bottle of red. In fact Mary and Graham have really thought about the needs of their guests and we felt very much at home and didn't want to return home, but we will be back again next year. If you are looking for somewhere to unwind and relax then look no further- this is definitely the place. Graham and Mary have created a wonderful home here - indeed it is a home from home -everything has been thoughtfully considered , to the interior decoration, the equipment in the Kitchen and the luxurious bathroom. Five star accommodation indeed. The attention to detail is wonderful , including detailed descriptions of places to visit and local walks all to help you make the most of the area and your holiday. Luciana was very welcoming and friendly and ensured our stay was worry free. Prior to our holiday we had made plans to visit numerous places of interest and the local markets but found ourselves repeatedly drawn to the beautiful garden and varied wildlife , which created the perfect haven to relax , read a book and take it all in. Consequently we will now have to return to see if we can manage to visit some of the places we missed out on this time - what a shame!!! As we walked into this wonderful cottage after our flight from Gatwick and drive from Montpelier, music filled the air and Luciana welcomed us like friends. Within seconds we felt the burden of travel evaporate, within minutes we knew we had found somewhere very special, within hours we were making plans to return next year. It was a breathtaking start to our holiday. Putting a finger on just what makes this place so magical isn't difficult. Firstly, Mary and Graham have spared no expense to make the cottage as comfortable as possible. From the furnishings to the facilities, everything has been considered, everything given a loving touch and it all seemed so familiar yet completely unique. The well equipped kitchen is surpassed, just, by the luxurious bathroom and there are TVs, stereos and most mod cons you could hope to find. You won't be spending much time indoors though. This place is all about the great unwind. If you're getting away from life's stresses and strains, you couldn't want for more. The cottage practically insists that you do as little as possible and take life very, very easy while you're there. And then there's the garden. Almost every night we sat atop the tiered garden and watched the river flow before us. The great emerald artery that bore life up and down its course. Canoes and paddle boards drifted by from time to time. Sometimes not a soul could be seen for hours. Mostly it's just you and the river, like it's yours alone. And it many ways, it is. We never tired of just sitting and watching. The week often became a battle between wanting to explore the area and remain cocooned at the cottage. The cottage always won. I was lucky enough to spend several years as a travel journalist. I think this may be my favourite place in the world.

We chose this cottage because the description seemed to suit our needs. So often you read reviews to assist you in your final decision, you balance the good against the not so good and then click still fearing that the leap into the unknown you have just taken could be a waste not only of your money but of the time reserved for your precious and deserved break. Well on our experience of this property, believe the 5 star reviews, rest easy and click away. The cottage is all the things it boasts in the owners description and a bit of what they can't boast of, the sense of peace, the sense relaxation in a well appointed home and in secluded and tranquil surroundings and above all when the holiday is regretfully over, getting the true feeling of your batteries being recharged. We stayed for a week and having visited the general area before found plenty of places to visit from this location. In an hour or so you can visit historical sites or the coast with some beautiful beaches. However don't feel guilty if the property lulls you into just lazing there, relaxing with a book in the garden area or dipping into the pool or the river,either in the canoe or for a swim. The cottage itself is all the glowing reviews say it is. One more thing, the owners Graham and Margaret,together their representative at the cottage,Lucianna, were helpful and professional assisting with a smooth transition from booking to vacation. Few things are certain about holiday lettings but I think one thing is about this one,you will probably want to return.

This is a true home from home! The location is superb. It is furnished, decorated and equipped to a high standard both inside and out, and at the end of our stay we just did not want to leave! We had lovely weather and thoroughly enjoyed lazy days in the shade of the trees with the occasional cooling dip in the plunge pool! Luciana the local agent is charming and very helpful, providing good advice about local restaurants etc. All in all, without any doubt, one of the best weeks holiday we have ever had! We shall be back.

I've given the cottage five stars, because there is nothing more I would have wanted - it was absolutely lovely. Spotlessly clean, cosy and fab location. We took the train to Avingon, and it was an easy car ride over towards Aubais. When we reached the cottage we were delighted - a lovely private spot and immaculately well kept. Graham and Mary clearly love it, and have put a lot of time into making sure it has everything you need. We loved the kitchen!! Spotless, and full of all our favourite gadgets! I even used their cookbooks to make some french classics - great fun. We had breakfast outside each morning, and often dinner outside too when it was just getting dark. The garden is perfect, a wonderful sun spot and even has a swing! Jumping in the pool was so welcome after baking in the sun, and we really enjoyed having a go at canoeing. It was just so relaxing - words can't describe! There are plenty of regional guidebooks on the shelves, and lots of local information provided by Graham and Mary - we travelled around every other day, and were in very easy reach of a gorgeous beach, and lots of interesting towns. It's fair to say that the description and reviews still don't do this beautiful cottage justice. Communications with Graham and Mary were regular, swiftly responded to, detailed and solicitous about our comfort and expectations. Our expectations were high - but were exceeded within minutes of our arrival. Our reception by Luciana, who cheerfully altered her own plans to accommodate a change of arrival time by two hours, was warm and fully informative. Luciana made sure that we knew everything that we could possibly need to before she left us to the peace and tranquility of the cottage. The house is magnificent with high ceilings and big windows giving a real feeling of space and light. It is incredibly well appointed and comfortable, everything is good quality and new, except many of the tasteful decorations which are fitting to a delightful French cottage and very well matched. This is a home which is accompanied by incredibly generous hosting where you are invited to make the cottage your own for your stay. The house is easily placed for day trips and for wandering round local markets (or the supermarket) to pick up fresh tasty provisions. There is even a coolbox you can borrow. The garden is gorgeous, with several different areas, shaded or open to the sun, all perfect for relaxing. Loungers and cushions are provided - all you need is your beach towel, your sun cream and your swimsuit! The plunge pool is cool and refreshing, very private and is looked after with very discreet visits from Elise. The huge fridge freezer means you have easy access to cold drinks too. If you're more actively inclined there are trails all around to walk, run or cycle, as well as the river to boat or swim in. We had the most wonderful, peaceful and relaxing holiday in one of the most comfortable holiday cottages we have ever seen. We very much hope to return sometime soon. Tony & Gill Stevenage

Having found this wonderful retreat on Homeaway we were expecting something special but what we found certainly exceeded them, a warm welcome from Luciana was the first joy she knew everything and told us all we needed know,then the house well what can we say except "wow" it was beautiful and well appointed the tiered garden has the same "wow" factor some lovely touches like the plancha and the pool all in all a wonderful peaceful week in wonderful surroundings including taking the canoe on the river and a few days sightseeing plus I must mention the Maje restaurant up the hill in Aubais which served beautiful food. Had another wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage during our second stay here. Since our previous visit last year the bathroom had been refurbished and everything else was a good as before. Lazy days in the garden, day trips to local sites, eating out in Aubais or coking our own food bought at the Sommiers market, with local wine. It's what a holiday is all about!! Will return again, it was that good each time.

Although it was our first visit it immediately felt like home. Beautifully decorated with nothing to be improved upon. Very relaxing holiday, reading , fishing, trips up and down the river where we managed to pick fresh ripe figs overhanging the river bank. Evening chorus of bee eaters,kingfishers,birds of prey,herons and egrets and even a resident red squirrel.All in all our best find yet

The short description on Owners Direct doesn't quite translate how stunning this summer holiday retreat is.The location is quite simply stunning ,the property well equipped and eloquently furnished with a superb spacious bathroom.In addition to the terraced gardens and a plethora of garden lounge equipment and plunge pool rests anchored on the river a small boat to explore the river. Aubais ,the local village is a 20 minute walk and offers several restaurant choices. A vast variety of flora and fauna can be viewed from either the river or the local walks.We have been to France many times on holiday at various locations and this property will take some beating..simply superb

A SPACIOUS HOUSE EXTREMELY TASTEFULLY FURNISHED AND DECORATED. IT IS FULLY EQUIPPED WITH ALL APPLIANCES. PLENTY OF SEATING IN THE LARGE GARDEN (SUN AND SHADE). THE POOL AND BOAT WERE FUN.THE HOUSEKEEPER IS VERY HELPFUL AS ARE THE PEOPLE IN THE VILLAGE.ENJOYED THE PLANCHA THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR TWO WEEKS THERE. WOULD WE GO AGAIN - VERY DEFINITELY A BIG YES.

I honestly text the owners to say I had died and gone to heaven. It was perfect, beautiful interior, thoughtful items left, comfortable, truly truly gorgeous. Delightful girl that shows you in and will look after you. It was so chilled, swimming in the river a bonus, we cant wait to go again and are sad that it might have to wait till next year. plenty to do in the area.

My husband and I enjoy a wonderful break at this riverside cottage in August 2014. The house was immaculate and combined a feel of luxury and home comfort expertly. We felt immediately at home here. We spent our days out swimming and rowing on the river cycling in the beautiful surrounding countryside and moving from tier to tier reading in the lovely garden. A number or beautiful small towns are just a short drive away, as is the coast, so there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. The cottage is very quiet and relaxing but the nearby Aubais is easily accessible. We walked up into the town a few times for dinner (it would have been more if we had visited the incredible Maje restaurant earlier in our stay - if you are in the area i cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough). All in all we enjoyed a fabulous week here left feeling fully recharged!

We absolutely loved staying at your beautiful cottage, so peaceful and comfortable, well maintained and well equipped and altogether to be highly recommended. We will come again. Lovely area of France with good restaurants and within easy reach of large towns for shopping etc. The owners were very helpful and there was help on hand if we needed it. Wild life and boating on the river meant there were always something to see. We enjoyed an evening glass of wine sitting down on the river bank.

What a wonderful find. We had great communication from Graeme & Mary the cottage owners during the initial booking. When we got there the cottage was even better than the description with everything we could wish for being provided. We were met by the housekeeper who showed us where everything was and gave suggestions for day trips, markets and local restaurants. The garden space was extremely private with lots of different seating for different times of day with large table for dining. Have already booked again for next year.

The cottage is truly wondrous. The inside is a fabulous mix of industrial, vintage with a nod to the 18th Century! Light, spacious and clean. It was a lovely retreat to relax in, just the right size plunge pool with idyllic views of the river. We entertained our French family here and they also fell in love with this little gem. Une experience tres agreable.
