The apartment was ideal for our purposes. We spent most of our five days there with family who live in Truckee. Getting in and out was simple, the location was ideal, and the river added beauty. Great!

We had lovely time and would definitely come back.

Exactly what was in description of property. Quiet, happy to be able to bring our dog and close to lots of hiking trails. We chilled and played cards.

The home was well decorated and had everything that I needed for my stay. I was able to hike down to the Truckee river caught a bunch of rainbow trout right off the property.

The unit was fine, some nice interior decorations mixed with deferred maintenance issues. The listing was perfectly clear that it would be important to open the windows at night to let in cool air, given the lack of AC. That would have worked great...if the screen door were functional, which it was not. The door was too broken to use, not only falling off track at the slightest pressure but also leaving a huge gap that let insects fly in (and being so close to the river, this was a major phenomenon!). Other drawbacks included a lingering scent of old cigarette smoke, a deck surface badly in need of sanding and repair, and other small details like tattered curtains and flapping insulation stripping. The location was lovely in terms of the river view, mountain air, and frolicking wildlife. However, there is no escaping the fact that you are very much attached to a garage and looking directly at the host's equipment-littered backyard and back deck. We often worried that we were invading the freedom of the host's kids to run and play freely - they were very respectful but we were so obviously in their territory. One final, small detail/hint: the coffeemaker is a Keurig and only 2 pods were provided, so make SURE you bring pods or your own coffemaker. We brought backup beans but couldn't use them. Altogether it was a fine stay but felt overpriced.

I booked this house for two nights for a solo fishing getaway, it was absolutely wonderful. The owners/family were awesome, made me feel right at home. The house had everything I needed and being that close to the water was an added bonus. Can’t wait to head back up.

We were looking for a location close to Stampede Reservoir as our adult kids & grandbabies were spending a few days there. We don't camp anymore but wanted to be nearby. (20 minute scenic drive). This place was perfect, quiet with pretty view of the Truckee River, train tracks (quiet) and valleys. Deer were comfortable wandering through in the early morning or dusk. Great BBQ! Kitchen is small, but we had plenty of room for what we were doing. Beds were comfortable, shower great and super clean throughout! We'd definitely re-book!

This is a small but well appointed apartment built onto the end of the owner's garage. Has a nice deck off the living room. Bath is small but functional and has a great shower. Kitchen is again small but dishes for two are supplied as is Keurig coffee makings and a microwave. Bed comfortable. An oddity is the refrigerator in the bedroom but not a problem. Neighborhood is very quiet with kids playing in the street. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

My boyfriend and my Corgi (dog) and I had a wonderful winter weekend stay here in early March. We were able to snowshoe right out the backyard, and stay cozy at home watching the snow fall. It was perfect for a true city getaway: peaceful, relaxing, private. And was still easy enough to reach from the highway (I-80) for any trips in to town (Truckee) for supplies or socializing. The apartment is attached to the back of the hosts' garage, a separate building from their house. The hosts were quick to reply; kindly plowed the driveway and around our car; and we respected each others' privacy (no in person interaction or visits despite proximity). I would visit again and recommend it for a peaceful time in the mountains!

This was my second trip to the Herschdale Hideaway…a perfect crash spot following all the fun outsiders play time! Super quiet neighborhood with beautiful views and safe spots to take walks. Thanks for the Ranch Waters and bubble waters!

Everything was as advertised. Location was fantastic... Right in the river and felt secluded . Rachel was very responsive if we had any questions.

Property was clean & bed was comfortable. Host was quick to respond to questions. Listing should specifically say no air conditioning. We wouldn’t have booked it had we realized that. When I asked that question after reading the guidelines I was told what to do to help keep it cool. They had a box fan but we brought a stronger fan with us and needed both. Our first night was so hot it took quite awhile to fall sleep. By morning it was cool but then it warms up through the day. It would help if there were ceiling fans or fans in the windows to draw air in. Other than that it was good but be aware if you’re staying here during the summer that there isn’t AC.

As a returning guest, I love the location (right on the river) and appreciate the thoughtful and friendly hosts. Good wifi, plenty of hot water, and peaceful surroundings.

Cute little apartment with kitchen and basic amenities in quiet neighborhood. Very responsive and proactive rental managers.

Hosts are friendly and accommodating, with excellent communication throughout my stay. The flat is very private, and has a beautiful location on the river. The wifi worked great, and there was plenty of heat and hot water. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare simple meals. I hope to stay here again.

The setting is surreal and so relaxing with a 5 minute drive to Truckee and central to all resorts as well as everything Tahoe.
