My brain immediately relaxed from the rigid structure of the working world and fell into the slow, calm rhythm of days where clocks lose their meaning and you wake instead to the sound of chipmunk chatter and blue jays calling back and forth. One evening while sitting quietly on the dock I was visited by a curious beaver who swam close as if to say hello before continuing on his appointed round. The lake is perfect for a quiet paddle and for much of my stay in late September, I had it all to myself. Soul decadence! The cabin feels off the beaten path but its location is ideal for exploring the Sandwich Range, the White Mountains or even the coast (drove to Portsmouth one rainy day). There’s a NH Audubon preserve right down the road that’s worth a visit. If you’re planning to do a lot of cooking, you might want to consider bringing a few of your favorite pots and pans to supplement what’s in the cabin. The week at the cabin left me restored and reinvigorated.

What a wonderful break we had here for two weeks. The house sits on a wooded knoll above the lake. We could see no other houses. Loud motorboats are not allowed, so it was incredibly relaxing. The owner's description is accurate. We had a great time swimming to the floating raft, and even to a little island not far away. We used the canoe (it's a smallish one) and the kayak. The kitchen was certainly adequate, but I had brought a non-stick skillet, a large pasta pot and some knives with me and I'm glad I did. If you like to cook, you might think about bringing a few of your favorite pans. There were cooking pans there, so if you don't bring, you'll be fine. The grocery story in town (about 8-10 miles away) is fully stocked with everything (EVOO, Fevertree tonic, interesting cheese, some local produce, etc.). Communication with the owners was terrific, timely, and helpful. Oh, and the house is close to several hiking trails.

Excellent back and forth communication. Was very nice to speak with owners upon arrival. Everything just as we expected. It was amazing to have the whole point, dock, and cove to ourselves for the entire stay. Loons, a bald eagle, and the breeze. Best place we have ever been for peace and solitude. Could not ask for a more beautiful New Hampshire lakefront escape.

Outstanding house and location! We most highly recommend Bearcamp Pond House! Everything about it was wonderful—the comfortable house, the great late, the canoes and kayak for boating, views from every window and porch and all around the lake, hiking, swimming, time in nature.

This is a truly breathtaking part of the country. We enjoyed a very peaceful week communing with nature on Bearcamp Pond.

We enjoyed Bearcamp Lodge very much. The cabin is secluded, private and rustic. The dock and boats were great, no beach or area to wade into the water however there is a resident's beach not too far down the road that can be accessed. The Sandwich area is a delight and we loved our ride through the white mountains, the farm stands, country stores and restaurants.
