Great experience staying here. Grabbed some groceries in La Libertad about 15 minutes down the road and had a great time grilling, swimming and watching the evening storms (stayed during the rainy season). Tyler, the property manager, was great to work with. He never seemed bothered by all my questions.....most of which I found if I looked around more I could have answered for myself.

Home location is gorgeous. House can use some updating but otherwise very comfortable. Staff is very attentive. Housekeeper is inexpensive to hire for home cooked meals and laundry. Home is not really within walking distance of anything except the beach. The closest restaurant is a 15-20 minute hike. Lucky for me we had transportation. I would rent this home again.

We spent a week at this beautiful property and it was like a dream. We rented the villa and the casita for a family reunion and we were anxious for everything to go well because we had such a short time to spend with people we had not seen in many years. Everything was great. The property was clean and very well cared for by a gardener, a pool cleaner and a housekeeper. The property manager and the housekeeper were helpful and accessible. The villa is as beautiful and unique as it looks in the photos, full of sea breeze and the sound of waves. The ocean views are stunning. The younger members of our group loved taking surfing lessons with some capable, friendly instructors who were interesting and knowledgeable about the country. There is a lot of room to play and explore at low tide on the beach right below the house, but the stairs down would be hard for anyone with mobility issues. There is a more accessible path to the beach a short walk or drive down the road in front of the villa. We did our own cooking, both in the large indoor kitchen and on the outdoor grill, including some great local seafood purchased nearby, but you can also hire people to cook if you prefer. I understand that Blanca makes great pupusas and will even teach you how to make them. We spent hours swimming in the warm ocean. You have to like playing in waves to swim there on most days! We went for walks inside the gated resort, to the bigger beach, tide pools, another, larger swimming pool and a nice restaurant. We also visited El Tunco, a local surfing spot a few minutes away by car with art vendors, bars, restaurants and yoga classes. Next time we visit we will venture farther and explore the country more, but we didn't really want to leave such a beautiful place and spent most of the time relaxing in and around the property and catching up with family. There were so many spots to lie in a hammock and read (while drinking out of a coconut from a tree on the property), lounge, listen to the sound of the waves, swim in the pool and the ocean. There is a lot of room for a big group to eat, hang out and dance in the villa, and some of us enjoyed yoga under the high thatched roof of the upstairs patio, looking out onto the ocean. We are looking forward to returning as soon as we can.

Our daughter and now son-in-law met in El Salvador and then they got engaged in El Salvador, so of course, they wanted to get married in El Salvador. The wedding party and immediate families stayed in this beautiful villa. It was a perfect set up and being so close to Atami resort, where we held the wedding, we were able to plan the wedding from Canada and the U.S. Communication with Tyler for the Villa and Camilla for Atami resort leading up to this important event was excellent. I am very thankful for that. We had all the details sorted out and I felt quite prepared upon arrival. Even with all the pictures and excellent reviews of Villa del Olas, I still walked in and my jaw dropped. This place is paradise. There is no other word to describe it. From the top floor down to the casita, every inch of this place was used and enjoyed. The top deck was so spacious for gathering but mostly where we would usually find people in the hammocks sound asleep. The main level was spacious with a great kitchen and eating area and sitting area as well as a great deck! It also accommodated the bride and the bridesmaids as well as the mother of the groom. The next level down had two bedrooms that accommodated all the guys. My husband and I got to enjoy the casita until the newlyweds moved in after we left. The pool and yard was enjoyed by everyone! Absolutely awesome! More hammocks and where I found my favourite one! The ocean being out the back door basically made for a lot of surfing fun and playing in the waves and walks along the beach. For the first few days, we did not have anyone in our group who spoke Spanish but with my translator app on my phone and a notebook, I was able to communicate with Blanca, and she helped me figure a few things out. Blanca came everyday and worked so hard to keep everything so clean and organized. She was always so willing to help us out when I wanted, or just leave us be and go about doing her work. Roxanna was also very helpful and she spoke English very well. Amilcar was a very dependable driver and was available for us everytime we needed him. Over at Atami resort, we became regulars to a great bar that makes the best pina coladas! I know there is so much to see and explore in El Salvador but besides one day in San Salvador and one evening in El Tunco, we didn't want to leave our paradise. We absolutely loved our time there. I am the owner of a surf school in Los Angeles and we have been hosting our bi- annual surf / Yoga retreat at Villa Del Olas for 5 years now! In total we have stayed 12 times. The Location is directly on the ocean. The community is safe and secure. 12 people can sleep comfortably. The kitchen is fully stocked. The property is well maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful. There are 9 hammocks in all :) Our favorite thing is the beachfront BBQ. A couple noes to fellow travelers: 1. Some months are hotter than others if you are sensitive, Dec to March are very temperate where as April/May are very hot -- but it is always easy to cool off in the ocean, the sparkling pool or the yoga deck. 2. Once you get past the fact that beachside amenities in El Salvador are somewhat limited and you turn off that HD video feed on your iPad,... Really there is no better place to be than Villa Del Olas. If you really need it, the Atami club just 200 yards away has a dedicated wifi line. 3. The management can arrange airport transfer, tours or even surfboard rentals for the beach just in front. Make any special arrangements well ahead of time as good tour guides and rental cars get booked out, especially at the holidays. We have countless students and adventure travelers who consider their trip to El Salvador the best trip of their life. This is mostly due to the amazing rental property Villa Del Olas. Seamless would be one descriptive I would use. It was just like walking into my own vacation home. Great place and an even better host. The place was clean and the home was beautiful. Packed with amenities and overall a great value. From check-in to checkout, everything went smoothly. All of his properties (at least the ones I've been to) are beautifully maintained. I wouldn't hesitate to rent from this wonderful gentleman at all.

Trip was Unreal ! Tyler was the man on so many levels. Food and service were outstanding. At any moment they went above and beyond to serve our needs even a custome coffee run. The house was such a perfect set up with a relaxed atmosphere and a convinant quick trip to small city life,beautiful water falls and most of all perfect surf! I don't want to talk about how good the trip was with tyler because people will discover the hidden breaks tyler showed us and I don't want to share!

Great location! But, what a miserable stay!! Upon our arrival (not before) we were notified that the air conditioning in the master bedroom was broken AND HAD BEEN FOR A WHILE!!! That essentially rendered the master bedroom useless. El Salvador beaches are EXTREMELY humid, and temperatures were in the 90's. Since there is no air conditioning unit for the main floor of the villa where the kitchen and living areas are, that master bedroom unit would have partially cooled off the living area. No A/C meant a very hot and humid interior - unbearable days and miserable nights. The only cool spaces were the other 3 bedrooms. We rented the villa specifically because we wanted to give friends and family that live in El Salvador an opportunity to visit with my 91 year old mother-in-law who has Alzeimher's. Because of health issues she needed to remain in the house. Everyone that came to visit was miserable and suffered through to keep my mother-in-law company. Some gave up and hung out by the pool leaving her alone. The living room furniture is also very uncomfortable. They photograph well, but all the cushions have collapsed. We had to take the pillows from the useless master bedroom to put them on the furniture to sit on. There is no microwave available which meant we had to generate more heat to warm up food. There are over 40 steps in the villa - all without handrails. The last day of our stay, my mother-in-law fell down the steps and broke her ankle in 3 places. It took an ambulance 2 hours to arrive because of the remote location, and all day of phone calls trying to notify Tyler whose only response was “I’m sorry”. Then that night the electricity went out in the entire house leaving us in total darkness without A/C. SCARY AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! I had to make my way down the outside stairs to get to Tyler who had now returned to stay at the casita. He was very unconcerned. At first he suggested the electrical outage might be due to us constantly running the A/C making it sound as if it were our fault. It was infuriating!!! I told Tyler he was not responding with the sense of urgency that an owner should to which he replied that he was not the owner, he only booked the villa. NOTE THAT ON THIS WEBSITE TYLER IS LISTED AS THE OWNER! I asked him repeatedly to provide me with information so that I could speak to whoever the owner is. HE REFUSED. I COULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

Easy planning and coordination with tyler. Wonderful accommodations for any kind of gtoup..family, friends..all ages. Private beach..Private pool..and well equipped. Both ceiling fans and air conditioning for multiple comfort tastes. Very clean and lovely staff Truly "a no problem " appoarch to any request...great guide-keli, cook-blainca...and tyler makes wishes come true. very very great property .

RIGHT ON THE BEACH! the pictures and description given didn't even do this place justice - It was even better in person! Gorgeous house- Lots of open space, always clean, spacious bedrooms, plenty of shared living space too, indoor and outdoor lounge areas, pool overlooking the ocean, plenty of shady spots with hammocks to stay cool. Some people say El Salvador is dangerous, but I didn't feel that way when we were here. this place is luxury!!! I was only here for a short surf trip, but it was incredible and I miss it already. Don't stay at a local hostel = do yourself a favor and stay here. clean & beautiful! :) We had hired locals come to the house make us papusas from scratch and actually even let us try to make some of our own! The place is so comfortable. Surfers and non-surfers alike will love it! it's in a gated community. the house is quiet and cozy for sleeping, hanging out, or lounging about between surf sessions.

I met my wife in Toronto four years ago. I have been down to meet her family in El Salvador, but we have always been nervous about taking my family there. My parents do not travel much and are a little picky in general. We also invited my brother, his wife and two teenage kids. Most of our concern as a family revolved around my parent’s comfort and our sense of safety there. First, the house was the perfect size for us. All the adults had their own space and the kids bunked alone giving us privacy. We even had a little side room and cradle for our two year old baby. Second, Villa Del Olas is right on the beach and stayed cool enough all day. We never had to turn on the A/C for more than five minutes and even then was just to cool off a room for a siesta. But anyway, most naps were out doors in a hammock or pool couch. Even my parents enjoyed the temperate all day and never complained once about it. Still, glad we had the A/C in their room just in case. Third, the house is inside a gated community, flanked by sheer cliffs. There is only one gate in or out. It felt 100% secure and we even left the car safely on the street every night. Also, the house locks down like a fortress if you want it to and there is no way in from the street. The beachfront is patrolled and guarded 24/7 so we had no concerns there either. One thing that took some getting used to was the armed guards. In some ways it made my brother and even I a little nervous. We don’t have a lot of guns in plain view in Canada. However, my wife’s Tio (uncle) explained why this is normal and important in El Salvador. Once we started see a simple deterrent to basic crime, handled by trained and licensed security agents, our bias shifted. Fourth, there were activities and luxuries to keep our whole family happy for eight days. Mauricio took the teens surfing one day and to a zipline another. Mercedes gave us a Pupusa class one night and then cooked dinner for everyone. The wives booked massages right at the villa. My dad went fishing out in front of the house nearly every day. He did not catch much, so he walked the fish market one day and then fired up the poolside BBQ. Delicious! Finally, The best part of the trip was simply relaxing to the sound of the ocean, which echoes like a song throughout the entire house. We didn’t really know what to expect before we left Canada, but what we got: the best family vacation of my life. Thanks again to the Villa Del Olas staff!

The house was rented for an all inclusive surf & yoga retreat I have stayed in homes in Bali, Hawaii, Costa Rica Nicaragua, Mexico, Malibu and Santa Barbara ... none of these have even come close to the experience of Villa Del Olas in El Salvador. First off the ocean is right there. I mean there is not a hammock in the place you cant hear the waves crashing. My friends actually changed rooms with me to the casita, which is built directly over the cliff, because it was "too loud" for them. I have never slept better. Since the house is build into the cliffs you look straight out over the ocean or walk 40 steps to the beach. There are tons of coconut trees home to local Jay birds singing songs in the morning. The house is open to the ocean and gets great ventilation. We used fans, but never turned on the A/C the whole time we stayed. Oh and the service.We did not have to do anything. Tyler set it all up. Surfboards, airport transfer, inland excursions and surf lessons with local guides, catered meals, yoga, massage, daily cleaning, pupusas, custom cocktails, volcano lakes, fish BBQs, it really was all-inclusive to the extreme. Can't wait to come back next year!

We went to El Salvador for a wedding. Weren't sure what to expect. The stay at Villa del Olas was the absolute highlight of the trip. The villa is gorgeous and very comfortable. We had 1 couple and 3 singles in our party and it was perfect for our group - would easily accommodate 3 couples and a couple of kids. The access to the beach is incredible. The beach steps away from the Villa is the like something out of a movie - it's fabulous. The property manager is fantastic - reliable and very conscientious. We also hired him to drive us around and that worked great. If you're planning a trip to El Salvador and your group is more than 2 people - STOP LOOKING. You won't find a better place to stay in any better setting.

The Villa is lovely and has everything you need for a wonderful getaway with friends and family. A truly beautiful place to stay. Marcos was very helpful in organizing airport transport and tours for our large group, and Manuel and Mercedes took wonderful care of the house. My only complaints - internet access was not easy in the house (a short walk to Club Atami is the the best way to access the internet) and the knives were to too dull for food prep, but we bought a sharp knife and sharpening stone we left for future guests.

My extended family (10 of us) came to Villa Del Olas for a 2 week vacation and loved it! The house is very comfortable, spacious and has everything we needed during our stay. Mercedes who comes 6 days a week is amazing and made sure that we were comfortable and had a beautifully clean place to live. The views are fantastic. The waves were great at the local beach and every other surf spot was only a few minutes away by car. When I come back to El Salvador (FOR SURE!!) I will do my best to stay at Villa Del Olas. We had booked our first few days in El Salvador at the Hilton and the remainder of our vacation at Villa de Olas...we should have stayed at the Villa the entire time! We booked the entire house (not including the Casita) and it was amazing. I was a bit skeptical at first since I had never booked a private home and had to give 1k as a security deposit down upfront but I left yesterday and the $ is back in my account today...so please don't let that deter you. The house is beautiful and the view is breath taking. I'm glad we booked the entire house because it would have been odd share the space with other people. We had several visitors and they all want to rent at some point in the future. And this review would not be complete if I did not mention that Mercedes is wonderful! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will be sure to return VERY soon. Oh yes, and a bit of advice- the house is located about 15-20 minutes away from the nearest supermarket so if you don't have a car/ride do your food shopping before getting there. You are responsible for everything including condiments so buy everything at once. We rented a car for $25/day ask Mercedes for the details.
