Abbiamo soggiornato in questa casa per una notte prima di partire per il Giglio, e devo dire che è stata un'esperienza perfetta. La casa è appena ristrutturata, con un design moderno e accogliente. La vista mozzafiato su Porto Santo Stefano è qualcosa di veramente unico, un panorama che da solo vale il soggiorno. La posizione è assolutamente ideale: a pochi passi dall'imbarco dei traghetti, nel cuore del centro, e con un supermercato proprio sotto casa, estremamente comodo per qualsiasi necessità. Sicuramente torneremo per un soggiorno più lungo alla scoperta di Porto Santo Stefano e dei suoi dintorni. Consiglio vivamente questa casa a chiunque cerchi comfort, praticità e una vista spettacolare!

I liked the view over the harbour. Excellent. And that is about all.

The property is not easy to find, beyond walking distance of shops, restaurants, bars etc. You need a car to go anywhere and therein lies a small torture. Entrance is up a steep hill, with a very sharp hairpin bend, up more hill, and the designated parking place is about the smallest I have ever known, with two heavy concrete pillars to remind you just how small. An old bed was at the back of the parking place. Several, heavy manoeuvres to get in or out, with a Citroen C2. Never, ever come here with a big car! The apartment in my view is appropriate for two adults, perhaps with one small child. Decor is tired and shabby (various paces with smudges on walls and painting flaking off); there is an old gas cooker with the wall above the burners covered in black marks, grease stains and what looks like fire marks. Pots and pans and crockery are well used (my breakfast bowl had a crack) and look like a collection of cast offs. Furniture is adequate but a mishmash of old styles, not very attractive. The balcony has a wonderful view - shame that the bedlinen, towels of previous guests were left there to dry, to keep us company! The shower cubicle is the smallest commercially available - anyone with a slight weight problem, watch out! The toilet flush dribbles (no worry for guests, but certainly for water conservation). We spent one night there, and I am thankful. To be precise, I myself rent out three holiday cottages and know the standard which should be desirable. This place failed quite poorly. Even leaving was an issue: we were told to leave the keys inside the apartment, which we did. We drove the car tothe exit gate, then discovered you need a key to get out. I phoned the housekeeper, who said we should have driven down, opened the gate, then walk back up the hill, go 5 floors up in a lift, leave the keys in the apartment, then go down 5 floors, walk down the hill to the car. !!!! By the way, the lift stopped working once during our stay.
