Every time we stay here it’s wonderful. Close to town. This is a very wonderful house. This house is our prime choice when visiting Guatemala. House keeper is available for cleaning and cooking and does a wonderful Job.

Our family just traveled to Antigua to attend a wedding and chose this beautiful house outside Antigua and we were not disappointed. It's a colonial-style home with well-appointed rooms. Lots of quaint gathering spaces and courtyards. The solar-heated pool was a plus. We enjoyed quiet restful evenings. Maite and her husband were so welcoming and helpful. The communication prior to and throughout our visit was superior. She gave us recommendations for trustworthy transportation individual which we used to move around town, The house is in a secure gated community which made us feel safe throughout the stay. I hope to return to Antigua someday soon and will reach out to Maite and hope to stay at this property again. Thank you Maite for going the extra mile to address our needs and communicating with you was impeccable.

This house was amazing! There were ten of us, and we had more than enough room to be comfortable. The pool and the back yard area was really nice, the kitchen was large and well equipped, and it was a godsend to have laundry. We even found the games and played some Rummikub. The decor is fun and interesting—there is so much to look at; it's like a museum. I can't recommend this place enough.

We loved this house! Location is good, house is wonderful, owner was great to work with. We will probably stay here again when we come back! Our only issue initially was finding it, because the map that Vrbo put had it downtown and it’s not.

Have stayed here many times. Wonderful house and safe place to stay. 10 min to down town. Owners go out of there way to make sure you have everything you need.

Our family of adults stayed at Maite’s home for a wedding in Antigua. Everything we needed was there. The home was stunning and very comfortable. We loved gathering at the pool in the beautiful courtyard. The best part was the responsiveness of our host: she recommended a driver who met us for our very late arrival at the airport and took us directly to the house. On our request she had snacks and a few breakfast items at the house for us - such a huge help. Our host also recommended a cook who shopped for us and made the traditional Antiguan dish, pepian, with us - delicious! The fact that the house was a ten minute Uber trip from Antigua was good and bad - good that we had a safe, comfortable, quiet refuge to return to at the end of the day. The bad - just that you can’t really walk into town. This is a great place to stay with a large family or group of friends.

Five of us stayed and it met our needs perfectly. Plenty of bedrooms and a choice of beds and en-suite or nearby bathrooms. Security was great. No A/C so fans might have been nice as it was warm to us Americans Great outdoor space. Covered areas with sofas, tables & chairs and in the open 4 loungers with umbrellas. Immaculate pool kept at an ideal temperature. Even an outside shower. Supply of nice beach towels by the pool. Built-in wood fired grill and a supply of wood is in a corner of the garden and we used it to make tortillas. Firestarters might help those not good at lighting wood fires. Plenty of outdoor lighting for either cooking or relaxing. Beds were very comfortable being slightly firmer than too soft. Good size rooms. Netflix was great as was wifi. Bathrooms had basic shampoo & liquid hand soap but no conditioner. Of course, you may well have your own supplies. Extra towel or two would have helped but we used ones from bathrooms not in use, Perfectly adequate top-loading washer and separate dryer is available. You may need to get more detergent. etc, Great to use at any time especially if travelling light The kitchen is adequate but oven was a little challenging at first. Some pans were a little old but not really an issue. We did have to buy coffee and paper towels. Central Park is 1.6 miles away. First part down narrow road with no sidewalk. We've seen books for guest suggestions and that might be worth adding We really, really enjoyed our stay!

The house is Beautiful and comfortable!!

The residence is located about a 5-10 minute drive to the center of Antigua. It is very tastefully decorated and has plenty of different areas to sit and enjoy the house. We traveled with a 2.5 year old, 4.5 year old, and 8 month old. There were tons of photo ops in the house itself. The only warning I would give is that all of the decorations around the property are impossible to resist for kids to try to pick up. Our most common phrase to the girls was, "do not touch". The host was very responsive, and all of the staff of the complex was very friendly.

Lovely as usual. We had active days hiking and it was nice to come home to peaceful and welcoming house.

This house has a wonderful feel to it. We were in Antigua with family and friends. We enjoyed cooling down in the pool and sitting outside with our breakfast. It is a short distance and an inexpensive Uber ride into Antigua proper- easy to meet up with other friends who were staying in the big hotel there. After dinner in the busy city, we enjoyed coming back to the quiet of the house and the amazing view of the mountains. House is at base of some gorgeous views. I hope this house can be our go-to for Antiqua. Lots of special touches in the house itself. You can tell the owners love their casa.

Villa Carina is a gorgeious home that while large enough to house our group of 5 colleagues traveling together, still feels comfortable and cozy. The hosts met us at check in to provide us with an overview of the property and to answer any questions about the house or surrounding area. We felt very welcomed and cared for by the hosts. The house is located within a small, beautifully landscaped gated community so we felt very safe throughout our stay. The house had everything that we could possibly need, including strong, consistent wifi. We were able to easily walk to the center of town, but it is also possible to take an UBER for those who prefer not to walk. While the house is gorgeous, the back yard and solarium are breathtaking. We spent countless hours enjoying the blooming flowers while cooling off in the private pool or catching up on reading in the lounge chairs and outdoor couches. Coffee in the solarium, enjoying the views, while literally being surrounded by the most beautiful flowers was a perfect way to start our day. This is a suberb property with wonderfully attentive hosts. I can't wait to return.

Very attentive owners , very quick to reply to our needs. The house was fully stocked with everything you could need on your stay . The house is more beautiful in person than what you can tell in the pics ; located in a very safe community just minutes away from center of Antigua . I cant recommend this house enough . You will not regret making the desition to stay here . We are very great full with Maite and her husband for their kindness and for allowing our family to enjoy their gorgeous house . I give it 5 stars ; if it had more stars to give I would do it as well .

Photos of this lovely Colonial style home in small, secure compound are 100% accurate. A Sense of Place (wonderful antiques & textiles) with modern comforts (Wifi, multi channels on flat screen TV, soft toleit paper) makes Villa Carina a perfect family or friends gathering locale. The children (is 50 still a kid? ;-)? might prefer being closer to town but Great Grandma liked being outside until visiting downtown together in the late afternoon. Do get a maid: Maria Luisa is highly recommended.

This house is amazing! Beautiful, spacious, super clean, and well maintained. Every aspect showed even better than presented in the pictures. Maria, the owner, was responsive, accommodating, warm, and professional. As my family looks back on the wonderful memories we made there, the house will play a significant role in retelling those stories. It was perfect for our very special getaway. We will definitely be back!!!

We stayed at this property for a few days. We felt safe as the home was within a gated community. The home was very big. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are in a museum. The purpose for us renting a home is to be able to treat it as your home away from home. We have family in the area who wanted to come visit us. The last time we were in Guatemala was five years ago. So, it was understandable that they wanted to say hello. Getting quick visits approved by the homeowner was a little challenging. Apparently, the house rules are that no visitors are allowed. After some back and forth, Maite agreed to allow our family to visit for a couple of hours. Then, we had other family that were traveling from further away, we invited them to stay with us since the house was large and we had bedrooms we were not using. I immediately let the homeowner know and that appeared to be an issue too. We explained that we were okay with paying extra fees for the additional 4 persons and that seemed to smooth things over. The property was very nice, secure, and comfortable. But not being able to receive visitors made it challenging for us since we had family that were going out of their way to come see us. Overall, it was a great experience.

This property is an oasis, tucked away in a gated community. It is less than a ten minute Uber ride to downtown Antigua. The backyard was probably our favorite place to gather for coffee in the morning and afternoon swims. The kitchen has everything you need, the linens are in good condition and we were able to do laundry before packing up to leave. We highly recommend this property.

This is a spectacular, spacious, first class property adorned with artifacts and thoughtful design throughout. A dream design for families or couples. Relaxing ultra private pool and patio area with security system surrounding the perimeter. Very safe and secure. We’ll repeat what many have said - the pictures are just the beginning - this is fine living in the Antigua area. Our only comment (not a negative) is the location for what our expectations/needs were based on approx. location on the VRBO map. So this may be a VRBO issue? Anyway, the property is a 30 minute (easy, nice) walk from Central Park. We did it several times and many will take taxi/Uber/tuc tuc - all easy to do, but requires coordination/time. This is common for rental homes in the area. The house guide provides numbers. Point is, you don’t just step out into town, and you will need to take transportation in/out at night in my humble opinion. Every single description of the home itself is 100% accurate and Maite was very quick to respond to questions. I would highly recommend this home and the professionally run and very secure association it is in. Again, first class.

This property is absolutely gorgeous...the pictures do not do it justice. Decorated to the tee... PLENTY of space for the 6 guests in our group...everyone had their own room. Gated commubity allows you to feel safe at all times. Gorgeous kitchen for cooking....the pool and fountain in the courtyard provided a wonderful relaxing atmosphere.

Really nice place; the owner reply for any inquiry is right away and the place itself is wonderful and cozy.

What a beautiful home! Close to everything we needed, and plenty of space!

My family (four young adults, my wife and I) had a fantastic experience renting this home during a trip to visit Antigua. The homeowners, Jorge and Maite, welcomed us as we arrived and gave us a very helpful overview of their home and ideas for our stay in Antigua. The home is very beautiful and quite large (which gave us ample space and privacy within our group) and comes with very nice amenities. It is great home for exploring the many things to do in and around Antigua or for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views and scenery if you just wanted to hang out at the home for part of the day. The home also has a refreshing swimming pool that we utilized one afternoon. The home is about a 15 minute leisurely walk to the central park in Antigua but there are also many Uber drivers who can literally pick you up anywhere within a couple of minutes and drop you back off at the front gate of their exclusive gated neighborhood (which gave us a very good feeling of safety and security). I would highly recommend this home, and again, the owners are very nice and available to help with any questions or concerns as they live in a nearby community.

I stayed in this beautiful house with my family for a few days. My brother was getting married and I needed a place close enough to the center of Antigua, but quite enough to enjoy our time together as a family. The house is absolutely amazing, clean, quite, charming and much more. I would definitely go back in the future. Maite and Jorge were very gracious and accommodating when we were running late to pick up the keys. Maria Luisa was just as amazing. She maintained the house cleaned and cooked for our family and made us feel at home. A truly amazing experience. Thanks Maite and Jorge - you made our experience in Antigua that much more enjoyable.

Maite and Jorge were wonderful hosts and there was plenty of room for 10. The outdoor space was beautiful; flowering plants, pool, grill, and seating for plenty. House was clean and inviting. Luisa was a great help with grocery shopping, meals and clean up so our family could spend more time together having fun! We also felt very secure with the gated neighborhood. We were very pleased with our stay and hope to return in the future!!
