Not only does this place have the ultimate cozy cabin feel it also has so much character. From the stained glass and funky cabin decor to the claw foot tub and incredibly comfortable mattress of the log frame bed. The wood stoves create so much warmth and ambiance but there is also the option for central heat which is nice too. My husband and I stayed with our 2 college aged boys for a few days of skiing at Mt Snow and Okemo. The boys had plenty of room to sleep between the comfy futon and high quality inflatable mattress or couches. The hot tub was wonderful after a day of skiing, the star gazing beautiful. The town of Bennington is 5 min away with restaurants/market but other towns less than 20 min away offer amenities as well. The host, Lars was incredibly helpful, patient and accommodating. Great communication! We would like to come back in the warmer months too as the property and location are a perfect Vermont destination!

My dog and I snuck away for a few days to this tranquil spot. Home and property as advertised and more. Hiked at Lake Shaftesbury and the checked out the Robert Frost trail too. It was exactly what we needed. Lars was great to interact. Thank you for sharing your home. Can wait to go back!!!

We fell in love with this extremely private converted barn. It was private and in the country but minutes from attractions, restaurants and shopping. Lars is an amazing host and very responsive. We were lucky enough to have a clear and starry night for one of our hot tub nights. We had a fire and sat on the rockling glider bench equipped with cup holders as we browned our marshmallows for our S'mores. The wild rabbits welcomed us home after our adventures during the day and when we arrived. There is a Keurig, so bring your k-cups! There is also a regular coffee maker. The washes and dryer made it nice to clean our clothes and bring less with us. This truly was an amazing area of Vermont we had never been to and we will be back!

What a perfect property! So close to town, yet amazingly quiet and private. My husband and I booked our stay to enjoy the Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots Festival in Manchester, so we spent most of our stay off the property, but we loved returning at night to peace & quiet, and enjoyed the hot tub under the stars. We did a lot of bird watching (we live on the ocean so we don’t get much more than seagulls and pelicans!). We also explored the trails around the property as well. Lars did an EXCEPTIONAL job making sure we didn’t need anything. Highly recommend!!

Had a wonderful stay - well equipped with everything one would need for a confortable stay. The location is very private and quiet yet short driving distance to groceries, restaurants, gyms and other services. Great base for all types of outdoor activities. Lars, the owner is very responsive. Highly recommend!

A very comfy place,

The Authentic Barn was incredible. First floor and a loft. Sits on 6 acres, nice woods, hot tub, close to town yet far away, lots of hiking opportunities. A must stay.

The converted barn is rustic, yet comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with nice upgrades. You can soak in the bathtub while watching the birds from a massive picture window. The bedroom was huge with a very comfortable bed. We took advantage of the cozy wood stove. The outdoor property has acres to explore through pathways through the woods and benches to stop and enjoy the tranquility. Best of all, the private hot tub that can be enjoyed morning or night.

A great thank you to Lars for an absolutely perfect getaway for my family. The place was amazingly clean, property was stunning, and all was just right for a fantastic few days, right down to the books and toys for the little one. Easy access and communication—I could not recommend this property more!

One of the nicest places we've stayed at. Convenient location, but with lots of privacy. We used the fire pit twice. We heard owls and turkeys and watched bats flying over. The night sky was clear with lots of stars. The living room and bedroom were large and comfortable.

This place was the perfect quiet getaway vacation destination perfect for a couple. The interior of the barn is very tastefully adorned with old rustic curiosities and dark wooden beams. The yard surrounding the house is expansive and secluded because it is surrounded by dense forest on all sides. Lars was an attentive host. I recommend this place because it is very chill and peaceful.

My wife and I both needed to disconnect and unwind after a very busy start to the year. We looked for cabins in Vermont. and the pictures seemed to match what we were looking for. We arrived, and found EXACTLY what the pictures and the description offered. Lars was very informative and helpful, and checked in to ensure we were ok with everything. The entire stay was exactly what we both needed. The trails around the property were really fun to explore. The one other thing I liked was the lack of TVs in the living room and bedroom. This really helped us to digitally detox for the week as well. Thanks again Lars!

We booked this sweet place to celebrate our engagement we were not disappointed! beautifully restored, well-appointed, and just darling to unwind in front of the fire and relax. Lars could not have been more helpful and communicative, and stayed in touch to make sure we didn’t need additional help from him, as during our time there a significant amount of snow was predicted. Just needed a long weekend away ... somewhere quiet, pictureesque, and private. #winning at the Vermont Barn! It was a lovely stay on a beautiful piece of property. Great property! The house is cozy and warm with a fantastic wood stove. I love everything about this place, it is well stocked with all the basics and an awesome hot tub. The grounds are wonderful to wonder around or just to hang out and enjoy the silence of the outdoors. Communication with the host was easy and we booked it again for another stay. Myself, my spouse and another couple spend every new years at a cabin in upstate New York, and this year decided to try Vermont. i’m so glad we did! the property was absolutely beautiful, secluded, and well-stocked. The area has plenty to do, and Lars was a fantastic and communicative host. Hope to return again soon.

My husband and 2 doggies spent our Christmas holiday here and it was great! The coverted barn was amazing, rustic, cozy and has everything you might need and more. We arrived to a awesome Christmas tree set up just got us, Lars was so attentive and responsive, the electricity went out for a few hours due to a storm and Lars helped anyway he could, we got power back quickly. The house is conveniently located near Bennington, restaurants and places to do snow activities, we enjoyed snow tubing in nearby Stratton and then enjoyed the hot tub after a cold fun filled day. We loved our stay and can't wait to go back. Thank you to Lars and his housekeeper for helping make this a magical stay

My partner and I took a trip here to relax, play and make art. The spot was perfect with lots of eclectic art through the house and property. Loved the little trails! My only concern was how dry the house was.. especially with the wood stove on. The salt water in the hot tub was a wonderful surprise.

My pup and I very much enjoyed our week-long stay at this unique property, set in a very secluded, quiet location just a short distance from Bennington. The house is furnished in a very lovely, woodsy-themed manner and every time I turned around I found another interesting feature, decoration, or piece of artwork. I loved cooking in the rustic kitchen, with its beautiful view of the Vermont scenery outside. The October weather was unseasonably warm for much of our trip so we got to enjoy sitting outside during the day as well as using the woodstove in the evening. (Plentiful free firewood was much appreciated!) The house is very spacious with multiple seating areas for reading or relaxing. I'm not a fan of spiral staircases so I did not use the loft area much, but for those who venture up it would also be a great area to enjoy, especially with its large, sunny windows. I also did not use the hot tub, but it's a nice, recent addition to the outside ambience. Lars was a great host, providing detailed information ahead of time and answering any questions or concerns I had during my stay. It's obvious that this is a well-loved home and I'm grateful that Lars has chosen to share it with others. Very much recommended.
