We were looking for a getaway, not too far from home. We had a very nice stay at the lake house. If you're looking for outdoor fun and family time, this is a great spot. I loved waking up in the morning with my coffee and looking out at the lake. It was great to just walk outside, grab a kayak and go! We hope to return in the Summer and get some warm-weather fishing in. There is a marina very close by where you can rent boats and/or book fishing charter. The house had everything we needed, we really enjoyed it.

Beautiful property and the owner is very responsive.

House was perfect size and in a perfect location just minutes from the marina where we rented a pontoon boat. Loved the house’s private boat dock area with swings and seating and the private beach on this property. The house’s boat dock was a great place to watch the sunset and see all the stars come out. House had paddle boards and kayaks too. Really lovely to sit on the big screened in porch overlooking the water!

The house was comfortable overall but the bedrooms are very small and 1 very outdated bathroom for 4 adults was not comfortable. We knew about the downstairs bathroom but that became seriously annoying to have to go outside to access. There is no tub to bathe children. A full size mirror somewhere would have been useful. The back porch is wonderful. The owner is generous with offering use of household items and water toys. The sandy beach was nice for accessing the water, which got deep very quickly so great location for boating and swimming. We appreciated being able to bring our dog but didn't learn till we arrived that a neighbor's cat wanders the property all day, particularly the dock area. The cat is very friendly and our dog is not bothered by cats but others might be so it should be noted in the listing. The cat made itself comfy on chairs and towels left out, leaving cat hair to shake out so that would be a problem for anyone allergic. Additionally, the neighborhood is full of dogs, who bark a lot. One large dog swam in from another house to approach our dog and the toddler. He seemed friendly enough but it was a little unnerving to face a strange dog that way, with no owner in site. The dock has lots of seating but is mostly sunny so an umbrella would have been useful. Shoes are a must..the entire dock is in need of repair. Raised, uneven, splintered boards were a problem every step. Overall, we had a very nice week and thank the owner for sharing his home.

The house was perfect for what we needed and Scott was a wonderful host. We’d love to come back.

Had an amazing time at this property enjoying the spectacular view hanging on the covered deck and screen porch. We spent time swimming paddle boarding and boating with family. Lots to love about this location! Scott was a gracious and responsive host. All in all, a great getaway

What a great time. The property had great accommodations both inside and out. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing. We will definitely be back.

We had an amazing time at this lake property. House was very clean, lawn was clean, beach and dock were clean. The little beach was great for our 2 and 3 year old to play on. The shallow water entry was very helpful for little kids not experienced with swimming/deep water. We would definitely stay at this place again!

The property was great and family friendly. We enjoyed our stay and its proximity to Mitchell's Point Marina, which allowed us to rent a boat for the day with ease.

We were supposed to be at the beach but our plans chaged at the last minute. Wanting a change of scenery and to still get away for a few days we found this place. Nice cozy little home with lovely screened in porch. Great dock and small beach area at the water. Even though it was just two of us and our dog there was plenty of room for more! Bed rooms were somewhat tight and shower was small but most of your time will be spent at the water or in other areas of the house. We also enjoyed walks around the neighborhood and dinner one night at Mitchell's Restaurant & Pizzeria which is just around the corner at the marina.

My husband and our 3 adult children wanted a short getaway. Due to our differing schedules, we could only stay Saturday through Monday. This property was very accommodating in that regard.

The house had all we needed to have a great time, the kids spent a lot of time on paddle boards and we had a wonderful stay enjoying the lake, watching movies, board games, the fire pit and the grill. The host was friendly and always responsive. Would recommend for sure!

We had a very relaxing Thanksgiving weekend enjoying beautiful sunsets, fire pits and talking long walks. The house is small but easily accommodated theee adults and four college age kids.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Easy check in and departure. Dock, Lake and firepit area was where we spent most of our time. The Lake is so still and clean and incredible... Cabin is a little rustic by modern standards but fit the bill for the setting and was more than comfortable enough. As mentioned, load up on food and supplies because it is a bit of an inconvenience to get that once you settle in, and there aren't many places to eat or drink at. Once at the cabin you don't really want to leave anyways. We did spend a day walking the dog around the state park which was a 15 minute drive and that was worth it and we enjoyed. Overall a really cool lake house and would recommend if looking at this area.

This was a perfect week of vacation! We had everything we needed in a clean home! There was a small beach area in the backyard with easy walk-in into the lake (our dog loved the lake more than any of us!). The dock was the perfect way to stay in the shade and still enjoy the lake! I’m pretty sure we will be back!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

The home was very comfortable. Activities in and around the house suitable for all ages to enjoy. Renting a boat was easy. I recommend booking boat early in the spring to reserve what you want when you want it. Docking at the house was easy. I also recommend that everyone in your party bring an awesome float. The house has canoe and paddle boards. Thank you to Scott for letting us rent your cute cottage, it was just our style. I also appreciate great communication!

My family had a wonderful stay and a great week! The place was well kept, had a beautiful new screened in porch, nice quiet cove, and everything you would need to enjoy time together at the lake. This was a great place to stay for our family. The owner had everything set up nicely and was very responsive in communication leading up to and throughout our stay. It’s a beautiful place which a spectacular view on the lake. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will certainly do so again!!

I can’t say enough good things about this property and rental experience. It was my very first time using VRBO and it was seamless! The host was a great communicator. The home was the perfect size for my family of three plus our GSD. The screened in deck was so spacious and looked righ out onto the lake. The water was crystal clear and you could just walk right in. The dock had a table and chairs plus built in benches. The view was amazing! The neighbors were friendly. We felt like we were in our own little haven. It was great to be able to use the canoe and life vests. Next time we will stay longer and rent a pontoon boat. The marina is literally around the corner from the house. I can’t thank Mr. Hall enough for sharing this gem with us!

It was perfect for us for the weekend. The house was as described and worked great for our family of four and puppy to stay while putting hours on our new boat before end of season.

My very first contact with the host was exceptional. They forgot to add the fee for pets and when I inquired they said that it was an oversight and waived the fee from my honesty. The house was cozy, clean and comfortable. It was in a quiet neighborhood and the location on the lake could not have been better. The main reason for going to Smith Mountain Lake was to fish. We were able to keep our boat at the dock which was so convenient and much appreciated. The boat ramp to launch the boat was literally one mile down the road. We were able to park our boat trailer on the property with no problem. It was so nice to walk down to the dock, board the boat and go fishing. The cove the house sits on was near the dam and the fishing was good. It was wonderful to be able to do laundry and the kitchen and grill were easy to use. I can't say enough about this place and the host. We will book again!
