My husband and I had a relaxing trip with our old dog. We went to Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury, about 50 minutes away. We also had a nice short hike at Lake Willoughby. The host was responsive about our arrival and directions. We had no trouble finding the place. The Genny in Craftsbury has just about everything you need, with super nice people and hot coffee in the mornings. The Willey's Store also had way more than you expect. Both were worth the trip (we got a steal on a gallon of maple syrup at Willey's!). It was raining for a bit of our stay so we didn't get out as much as we'd hoped, but it was a great visit to Vermont.

A beautiful and relaxing stay for anyone. This little house has all you need for a wonderful vacation in the mountains of Vermont.

Not much going on, but great relaxing time with an old dog. Interesting original artwork in a cozy country/mountain home. So dark and quiet at night.

We loved having an equipped kitchen to make meals. If you have sensitive allergies to pet hair, watch out. There was dog hair on the carpet and furniture. We would definitively stay here again though! The hosts were very responsive.

Had a great stay. The cottage was even nicer (more modern) than the pictures described. It was clean and well kept and we had a great time.

Everything you need for a short or extended stay. Quiet location, great walks on the dirt roads outside your door, quick drive or bike ride to Craftsbury General Store which is worth the visit...

Stayed with our coaching staff for ski races at the Craftsbury Outdoor center. Very cozy and comfortable with a nice hot shower. We really enjoyed our stay!

The host left us some coffee and bottled water for our stay as stores are a fair driving distance. We loved the cottage and would return.

This was our second time staying at Sunset Cabin and it certainly won’t be the last. John is a great host who keeps the property/ house very clean & well stocked with essentials. Highly recommend staying at Sunset Cabin if you are looking for a place to stay in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Very nice cabin

This was a great place and reasonable priced. It has ample room with a nice loft. Just be careful using google map, it took us to a different property about 2 miles farther down the road. If you’re looking for a nice quiet getaway with beautiful surroundings, this is your place.

Highly recommend this lovely, cozy yet spacious, well-equipped cottage! We planned to spend our anniversary weekend hiking, but it rained all weekend, and we had a great time cooking, relaxing, and exploring the area. Our stay was even better than expected!

This cottage is wonderful. It is located in a quiet rural area. The road leading to the cottage offers a beautiful view of the valley and amazing sunsets. The cottage has everything you need. We had 4 adults there with no problems as far as room and sleeping space. If you’re looking for a great quiet place to spend some quality time this is it.

My stay at the Sunset cottage was absolutely wonderful. Upon my arrival the hosts checked in with me via phone and made sure that I had everything I needed. The days ranged from quite cool to extremely warm in my time there, and I was well prepared for both with both AC and a propane heater available! What funny art and such a lovely place to retreat- no frills but exactly what the doctor ordered.

We were in town for a wedding and spent two nights at "Sunset Cottage." It is exactly as described; a small, clean, comfortable cottage. The wifi was good, the house was clean, and the location was good. We mostly just slept at the house so didn't use the kitchen/appliances (other than coffee maker) or the outdoor grill, etc., but they all looked great. Could be a nice place to hang out and relax; comes stocked with board games, books, etc.; we just didn't use any. The only comment - follow the directions you get from the host in your email to get to the house! We initially only entered the address into Google Maps and it defaulted to "Craftsbury", but the house is in "Craftsbury Common", so it directed us a few miles up the road to the wrong spot! But the directions in the email are exactly right.

Great location & lovely cabin

John's cottage was a lovely oasis for a solo retreat. It was surrounded by lush greenery and very peaceful. The cottage was cozy and quite comfortable, with great picture windows to enjoy the scenery, a comfortable bed, hot shower water, etc. A nice experience!

Had a wonderful stay at this quiet, clean, lovely cabin. It was very relaxing and had plenty of room for myself and my dog. Loved the loft area for watching tv. Had everything I needed and then some.

Came here as our yearly VT getaway from DC with my partner and dog. The location is perfect for what we were looking for. We were able to get in several hikes within a short drive in the area and also very convenient to Hill Farmstead. There are a few great general stores also within a short drive. Highly recommend The Genny in Craftsburry. The house is just off the road but surrounded by trees given it a more secluded feel. The road is also very quiet with not a lot of traffic. There are not a lot bells and whistles with the house but that is not the point as it was comfortable and quiet. I come to this part of the country to slow down and disconnect and was able to do so. With that being said there is wifi and smart tv that worked well. House comes with anything you need for the most part. If you plan to do some serious cooking you may want to bring some things with you but it has the basics. Also you will want to bring bathroom essentials but that should be expected. Listing was accurate so we were not caught off guard. John was a great host and had recommendations listed for the area. He also called to check in on the night it was getting cooler to see if we wanted him to come by and turn the heat on. He did not need to do that but appreciate him checking in. The price for the place was very reasonable especially allowing us to bring a dog which can be hard to find and in many cases charge exorbitant fees to do so. I highly recommend this place and would stay again!

The house is super cozy and a very comfortable stay for us and our 2 month old and dogs. Plenty of room for the dogs to run around and the views were great from the property. Short drive to hill farmstead and lake willoughby. The only downside to the stay was that there was no hand soap, soap or shampoo for the shower and no coffee filters. We ended up just picking up what we needed, but for how affordable the stay was we didn’t think it was a big deal. Thanks for the stay!

The great thing about this place is very close to my daughter’s place.. The place is clean.. The kitchen provides all the necessary things for cooking breakfast and enjoy our coffee every morning. Thë washing and dryer were a plus for an unusual rainy weekend.. The owner was very quick to answer our questions thru texts.. We enjoyed our stay at the sunset cottage very much and will be back again in the future.

This cabin is private but still close to everything! It was cute, clean and comfortable and we will most definitely stay there again. John was helpful in every way and always responded if we had any questions.....it was great week away and we look forward to the next time!

Was only at Sunset for two nights but it was perfect. The Wi-Fi was very handy when it turned out TMobile does not work in most of Vermont! The box fan made all the difference on a warm windless night. We even borrowed the VT road atlas from the house during the day to find our way around!

Our family had a great time at sunset cabin, house and yard were well kept. Plenty of space outside and lots of amenities provided by host. Property was relatively easy to find and close to general store

This is an awesome place to stay. Quiet. Away from everyone. Friendly little town. 100% local. Met the owner John who was cleaning our place when we arrived. John showed us around the house and was very helpful. We would definitely come back and stay again.
